We had captain Brad at the end of June. There were 2 divers and 3 snorklers on our boat that day. My family was the group of snorklers. Brad took us to two locations that were perfect for both snorkeling and diving. The first was a reef where we were able to get up close to the reef right at the surface of the water. The 2nd was a large ship wreck that you can see in the pictures attached to this review. Brad also made sure that my brother was given good directions as it was his first time ever snorkeling. He also made the waiting on the boat enjoyable while we waited for the divers to get settled in luring fish back to the boat where we even saw a barracuda chase a yellow fin snapper right out of the water (picture attached). Brad also took us to sites where we were the only snorklers which made the trip even better! I appreciated the view without all of the other snorkler fins in the way. The shop had lots of masks, snorkels, and fins to borrow and made the process of getting on and off the boat very streamline. There is another large snorkeling company in the same shopping strip, so just make sure you are going to the correct door. The other company was very friendly and guided us to the correct location upon arrival. There was ample parking when we arrived, but I imagine when the other company has lots of customers, the parking could get crowded. The parking is also on shells and not paved. read more

We had an amazing time with Angie and Buddha! Family of four, kids 15 & 11. Completed our Open Water certification. Rented the whole boat for 3 days in the morning. Went diving with them 3 days, 2 dives each day. This is our second dive trip. The first was in cancun where we got Scuba Diver certified. During this trip we upgraded to Open Water certification. Cannot say enough about how good of an instructor Buddah is. My wife had some anxiety about diving from our last trip and Buddah got her through it. I don't know if another instructor could have done that. He was also great working with our 11 year old that can be a challenge. The individual attention was greatly appreciated. We learned so much! The boat is fantastic as well. Very comfortable and well maintained. We really enjoyed having a smaller setting and avoiding the crowds. Buddah and Angie gave us great recommendations on dive gear as well. We ended up purchasing mask, fins and snorkels this trip. We now have 12 dives under our belts. Planning another trip back to Key Largo and will definitely dive with them again. read more

Just came back from the Keys diving with Blue Water. I spent days researching dive shops down there. I am a experienced diver, but this was my wife's first dives after getting certified. All the other shops where cattle cars with 20+ people on the boats and I wanted a bit of extra attention for the wife. Pascal was a dream to work with! He runs a small boat with a max of 6 divers. Dwayne was the DM who led us out on 6 dives. I cant tell you enought how well he took care of my wife and led the dive. She freaked out on 1 dive and he did a great job of calming her down to continue to dive! The boat was perfectly setup for diving and got us out to the sites quickly. Dwayne is a trip! His stories and personality make the experience even better, both on and off the boat. We will be back to get the kids certified and he is the ONLY one who I would trust with my pre-teens, and that says alot. The rental equipment was up to date, which is unusual for alot of shops. I came down to Key Largo to finish my open water certification. They provide every single thing you need, even goggles, snorkels, fins etc. which is uncommon for many places. It's nice so you can try it out before making a significant investment in your own equipment. It's very nice that it's small group diving as well, only up to 6 people. Angie is super responsive for booking, makes sure you have all of the information and things you need before and while on the boat. Buddha is a very experienced dive master, helps you every step of the way, and made me feel comfortable despite me being in my head and nervous out of my mind. By the last dive I felt like a pro. He knows all of the good spots and how to spot the cool animals. We saw 2 sharks, an 800 lb grouper fish, many schools of fish, so many cool things to take in. We have always loved BlueWater Divers and I was a little nervous to hear they were under new ownership but GUYS, it's EVEN BETTER! We haven't been diving in a few years because of the kids being too young and we took a refresher course from Andrew. He is so knowledgeable and HUMBLE. He helped us feel 100% comfortable about diving again and was happy to answer all of our questions. The dives were AMAZING! Bluewater divers went above and beyond my expectations. Not only were the diving sites the best i've ever dove but the crew was top notch as well; Andrew and Robert were both very friendly and knowledgable about every site we went to. We saw loads of turtles, sharks, rays, and much more. They were also very helpful by giving us recommendations for local restaurants and other activities like kayaking and jet skiing. The boat is smaller than your typical dive boat which gives you a much more personalized experience. The first day of dives we had the boat completely to ourselves (me and a friend). There were actually more crew members (including the divemaster in training) than paid divers! They offered oranges and water in between dives and beer for after. What more can you ask for? The dive operation is average. They need to tighten up the operation. Owner checked me in and barely acknowledged me. Start with saying "good morning" and smile. Make people feel welcome and they will come back. The weather was not ideal but the owner and boat captain found a great second dive with good visibility. The divemasters where very nice, but one was unfamiliar with the reefs and was given a synopsis prior to the dive. The owner did switch out the tanks, but kind of rough with my regulators and BC. Respect the gear bro. One thing I like to hear before the dive is instruction on reef etiquette, eg - don't drag fins or let gauges dangle and hit marine life. I also like to know what reef we are diving, what the geography of the reef is and the highlights of the spot. Heard none of this. read more

Small boats and good divemasters. Surprising additional guide fee. We liked this operation because of the small boats. We are not fans of the large cattle boats with 30 or more divers. Duane and Pascal were very good. My only issue, and the reason I did not give 5 stars was when we booked these dives, they asked if we wanted a dive guide for $30. I could have easily said no but it's been a while since we've been in the keys but thought a guide would be a good idea. Well, it turns out that we really didn't have our own dive guide as expected. There was 1 divemaster who was overseeing everyone on the boat. I asked a few other divers if they had paid the extra money for a guide and they did not. The owner assured me that this is a typical fee and everyone except locals pay this fee. I've dove with many different dive shops around the world and have never experienced this. Usually a dive master is included in the price and it's up to you whether you want to follow him or not. If I pay extra for a guide, it is my personal guide and that's that. I have wanted to scuba dive for a very long time. I have been incredibly afraid of sharks and the ocean since I saw Jaws as a kid in 75 or whenever that came out. My wife booked a DSD dive for me on July 5th, 2022. She's deathly afraid of deep water and wouldn't snorkel or swim in deep water at all. I learned so much from Duane during that dive that I had zero anxiety, worry or issues AT ALL. He's super fun and crazy, plus a very professional and knowledgeable instructor. Just the right guy for me to learn from. He probably would've been a great Pirate. Lol. So, I just came back to Key Largo this week and Certified. Super excited about it. We had 4 great dives. My wife came with me on the boat and by the time we were on the second dive, Kevin had gotten her in the water (30 ft), with a mask and snorkel. It'd been 4 years since I last dove and Buddha was willing and able to make my dive safe and fun. Fair to say I was closely supervised and directly assisted at times... but once we got going we saw a number of sharks, several turtles, lobsters, a Moray eel, and plenty of fish. We initially booked through a company we had gone with previously only to show up day one to find out the owners had sold. It was a definite upgrade for me! Checking in with Pascal was easy and dive master Duane and Captain Clint made us feel right at home. Duane is an excellent dive master and showed us some great spots. We had a marvelous time. We went to Key Largo to share experiences with our children that we had. My husband works around the world and we enjoy traveling. We brought our Autistic son Marty and our Nephew and his fiancee who had just become engaged. Our two grown children and our son in law and infant grandson. Aaron took the most beautiful pictures and our niece and nephew used the opportunity to take their "save the date" picture. "I caught my fish". Our son Marty was treated respectfully and gently and very skillfully by Kelly and he enjoyed seeing Jesus under the water. This was a once in a lifetime experience for him and another amazing milestone in his life. Our Son in law got his first experience swimming in the ocean. He is an accomplished outdoorsman and martial arts instructor as well as a award winning marksman.He took great gopro photos and video and was beaming with joy at his first experience. Our daughter got a great picture with her cousin and we got plenty of laughs with our other son, and a memory we will never forget. Many Christmas dinners will end with the story of snorkeling off KeyLargo with the kids. We couldn't be happier than having gone with Bluewater Divers. Thank you for a wonderful memory!!! read more

Christie is the BEST! and we all LOVED Captain Ann too!! I was the "cruise director" for our ladies' trip to the Keys late June through 4th of July. There were five of us: two certified divers, one newly certified for this trip, and two wanting to take a resort course on site and dive same day. As we were all traveling from different places, there was a bit of back and forth on our desires. Christie was very accomodating in answering all of my pestering questions and was able to take the two resort course students in the morning, and all of us together for diving in the afternoon. I felt that her pricing was some of the best I found and her availability/quick response in answering questions was fantastic. The resort course was super easy to catch on and Christie has a very calm demeanor that really helped my one friend who turned out to be more nervous than I expected underwater. We were able to bring snacks with us, but they did provide waters and orange slices. The orange slices are heaven after being in the salt water. We dove two different locations. I will say that I was a bit overzealous in my excitement as a first time diver and kept getting a little too far away from Christie on the first dive as she was trying to help my friend who was having issues with her ears. She was patient with me and just motioned for me to come back closer to her. She would help us spot cool stuff and since we had an underwater camera with us, was more than happy to help us take photos and stuff. When I return to Key Largo (because let's be honest, I can't imagine anyone who has ever been choosing to NOT return) Christie will be my first contact to secure my diving for the trip. And so, my love of scuba ignited and now I'm off to my first live-aboard trip in the Bahamas. Happy diving y'all!! read more

Unprofessional and dangerous. It may be a small boat with fewer divers, but there's only one guide and one person on the boat. The couple operating the boat have been doing it only a few months, and it shows. I saw multiple incidents where they took inexperienced divers into conditions they weren't prepared for. Safety briefings are often missing details, which is a shame because with so many inexperienced divers there are more safety issues than there needs to be. One kid went out into a tough dive with only half his air because he was too green to know enough to ask about it. In an emergency situation when they should have just canceled the trip like other boats, they lost multiple divers. The wife then lashed out at her husband in front of the customers and at the only other experienced diver on the boat who had helped with both rescues. Ours was a 2-tank dive with one stop at the M/V Benwood wreck and the other at Molasses reef. Both were great dives. We hired, Robert, one of Bluewater Divers, dive masters as a guide. Awesome. His keen eyes pointed out lots of stuff we would have never seen or known about. The best was the camouflaged scorpion fish with amazing bright blue fins and the yellow trumpet fish. A turtle swam so close to me we I could have touched him. Then there were the huge groupers, huge angelfish, huge parrot fish, file fish, American ray and .... I like to scuba slow preferring to look at details and the environment around me. Robert kept us moving at just the right pace so we could both enjoy a drift and swim the reef. Bluewater Diver is a smaller operation and very slightly more that some of the larger commercial boats. Spend the little extra money and you will have a heck of a lot better dive. BTW, We dove with Bluewater Diver two days ago with dive master Andrew. He was another great guide for our two tank dive at Molasses Key. read more

Eric and Christi were great. We called last minute the night before and were pleasantly surprised to get on the morning trip the next day. It turned out my gf and I were the only divers the next morning! Eric was a helpful and friendly dive boat capt and Christi was a great guide. She showed us a bunch of hidden creatures as we were diving at the Molasses and Aquarium sites. At least 40-50' visibility and hundreds of fish. Even saw 3 spotted eagle rays at the end of the last dive. The price for 2 dives and all the gear and a guide was great. I would definitely go with them again! read more

Just finished up some dives with these folks. We had 3 certified scuba divers and 3 that did discover diving and were ready for the water portion. As can be the case, weather early in the year can be kinda unpredictable as it was on our original dive day. Christie was very accommodating and let us delay the trip until later in the week when the ocean was plain spectacular! Flat and calm vs. 3 ft seas the prior days. So, a little about their operation. What drew me to them is their small diver intimate experience. I've dove a number of times in the keys and sometimes you just feel like cattle with so many divers aboard. Completely the opposite experience with BlueWater. We had just our group and I really felt pampered by the great service and friendliness of Christie and Eric (the boat captt. Eric did a great job going through the safety procedures and making sure everyone was briefed. Christie helped everyone get situated and helped set up everyones gear to ensure we were ready for the short ride out to molassas reef. Boat is roomy and comfortable with plenty of shade cover or sun depending on what you prefer. Once at the dive site, eric briefed us on the dive and some areas to make sure to see. He helped each diver get to the nice easy back access deck and get in without any drama. We had great dives that day and christie took our group all over the reefs with each dive easily lasting an hour. Eric helped everyone get back aboard and Christie and Eric prepped equipment for the next site. All in all, it was the type of experience you wish to get every time you dive! They both are so friendly and nice that you feel like you are diving with old friends after a few minutes of meeting them. In closing, I can't say enough good things about these folks! Fun, easy going, pampered, and Cadillac service abounds. No wonder they always get 5 star ratings on yelp and trip advisor- they totally earned it! read more

We chartered a dive trip this past Monday 6/22/2020 with Bluewater divers, and were treated like VIPs. Andrew and Capt Richard were amazing. My family and I truly enjoyed ourselves and were able to relax. The conversations with Andrew and Cpt Richard were fantastic and we had a lot of fun and Andrew took wonderful photos during our dives. My girlfriend and I signed up for a scuba certification class with Christi and she was awesome! She was extremely thorough and paid a lot of attention to our needs. We started with a pool session with her in the morning and then went off to do a real dive in the afternoon. After our dive my girlfriend and I realized that diving was not for us and we decided to cancel the rest of our classes. We rented a house in key largor for a month, needed a dive shop that we could arrange for our 15yr old twins to do Padi Open Water certification, myself and my husband due a scuba refresher course, and then of course dive. Blue Water was OUTSTANDING on all fronts, from explaining the Padi certification process, the pool course - amazing instructors, certification dives and the post certification dives. Also love that it's a small boat operation (10 divers/snorkelers max). Pascal, captain Rob and the instructor crew, go out of their way to ensure a great experience. They take a maximum six divers which means plenty of space on the boat and a super relaxing boat ride out to dive sites. Captain Eric is awesome! Even though it was the off season and there was only the two of us, Bluewater took us diving anyway. All the sites were great.
