We booked here for a one night stay. There's a lot to do in the area. John Pennecamp park, the Conch House, a bird sanctuary, they have diving boats that you can take out, as well as jet skis for rent, and kayaks, stand up paddle boards, etc. The rooms were very clean and updated. The buildings are very cute. Kind of an old school Keys feel. Our room had a view of the bay with a few trees blocking the horizon. (See pictures) The bed was very comfortable. It was very cold on the weekend that we were there, so we used the extra blanket in the closet. There's a dock to hangout on but it was too windy and cold to hangout for too long. There's a tiny "beach" (see picture). There are a lot of nice places to relax outside. There was parking directly in front of our room. The prices were reasonable. I would return again and stay longer. read more

This is a very professional PADI outfit. The accomodations are good for a dive resort, don't expect a Marriott experience but it is clean and convenient. I liked that they had no carpet in the rooms. The internet works most of the time and the AC worked well. Beds were comfortable. There is no housekeeping service except between guests. There is no food or restaurant on the premises but you can walk to a bar and restaurant. If you have a car or Uber there are plenty of restaurants close by. The diving. I dove with them for 5 days. have been certified for 38 years. The staff is Highly trained and knowledgeable. I noticed that Erica and January did the bulk of the work when they were on board, the guys tried to look busy. January and Erica were both very helpful, courteous and made us feel welcome. Other standouts were Nick Christina,and Tom, again they made us feel welcomed. The boat. Pontoon style, good speed, plenty of room, many ways to exit and ladders. The dives, most were on Molasses reef with a few others including Christ of the Abyss and the Benwood wreck. The visibility varied by day. The best thing about their dives is that they are fairly shallow 20 to 35 ft So it is very safe , ideal for beginners and great if you have not dove in a while. read more

10/10 snorkeling experience! I'm from Texas and I don't get to see water so clear often. This water was beautiful, the workers have done a wonderful job rebuilding the reefs. They were all such nice tour guides and very energetic. My group forgot snacks, so I was happy to find snacks were provided. Also a shower, shampoo, conditioner and sunscreen all coral safe. Absolutely loved my experience at Amoray! I came in on a Wednesday, took a pool referesher on Thursday, scheduled dives Friday and Saturday, and returned home Sunday. Absolutely fabulous, perfect "long weekend." The staff is so incredibly friendly and helpful. I felt very welcomed and at home here. The boat was such a comfortable ride and the journey out to the dive sites was very relaxing going through the "neighborhood" and then out to the dive sites. Just what I needed for my beginner-diver anxiety. Ricki was my instructor and she stuck by my side the entire time ... again, just what I needed for my beginner-diver anxiety. She was conscientious of my hesitation to just get in and explore, and we hung out on the line until I was ready to let go and see what's out there. What a great experience! Now, the resort is no frills. The room I stayed in was basic but had everything I needed. My goal for the trip was to focus on comfortablity in the water and gain skills, so when I was done diviing for the day, I went back to my room and cozied in. The bed was absolutely divine. There are no restraunts on site and no room service. Again, no frills, but for a diver everything you needed is right there. The best part was waking up and rolling out to the boat just feet away. The front office has a nice shop to pick up anything forgotten or needed and many very nice shirts and tanks and fashionable dive attire. I live in a state where there is no diving and was looking for a place to go to for those long weekends where I can just submerse myself in the diving world, and I feel like I have found that place. We did our Advanced Open Water dive certification here with Tom. 8 dives in 2 days. We did not use the hotel. Here's how it went: The Good: - Very knowledgeable and friendly staff - Easy equipment rental for a very fair price - Fun, helpful, responsible boat crew - Did not go to the same dive site twice except the deep water dives, so lots to see in new environments - Safety was key and everyone made sure to keep things safe while also giving you a great experience - Rented gear was in good condition. When someone did have a problem with gear it was swapped out or fixed immediately - Tom did a great job giving required instruction in a practical manner; very good to have as an instructor; techniques and procedures did wonders in such a short time to make me a better diver - Snacks on the boat! The Not So Good: - Dive trip was too short. Wish we could stay a few more days. - Website is beautiful but doesn't really get into detailed information. They just say call. Could definitely use more details online so people know what to talk about when they call. Bottom Line: Excellent dive shop and tour service. Everyone from the office people to the dive crews were great. Prices reasonable. I'd recommend this group to anyone. read more

I cannot recommend Amoray Dive Resort highly enough! My husband and I stayed for a week for our wedding anniversary and everything was so great. The office and dive staff were helpful and communicative before the trip, answering all my questions each time I called. They were warm and welcoming upon arrival, and check-in and check-out were smooth and easy. The crew on the Amoray Diver were also exceptional. Kevin, Aaron, Kalen, Nick, January, Christina, Tom, and all the rest of the crew were attentive, funny, helpful, and knowledgeable! It was truly a joy to cruise and dive with them. The accommodations themselves are somewhat barebones, but as we were spending most of the time in the water, we didn't need much! (The AC worked which was the most importantly thing for us!) The pool is small but lovely. The lounges and tables at the end of the dock are perfect for watching beautiful sunsets. The free laundry (with pods and dryer sheets provided) means it's easy to pack light. It's good to note there is no restaurant on the property, though there is a food truck that is open sometimes. We picked up groceries and ate breakfasts in the room which was easy enough. Having the resort be geared towards divers was so lovely! With the gear wash and gear locker right there, as well as the boat right there, there was no need for lugging everything around which was great after a full day. I know we just so happened to get *perfect* weather and conditions but everything really did seem extraordinary. The dive sites weren't too crowded, the water was warm and clear, and we saw tons of wildlife including dolphins (off the boat), sea turtles, sharks, crabs, lobsters, eels, rays, jellies, and of course tons of fish and coral! It will be hard to beat such an incredible trip, but I'm sure Jordan and I will be back to try! THANKS, AMORAY!! read more

It's one step up from camping. Didn't feel safe in a room on first floor with French doors as the main entry and cars that can park right up next to door. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Its located close to many popular Key Largo restaurants... bars.. and sites. The staff is friendly and they have complimentary tea and coffee in the morning. We arrived from MIA after dark. Upon pulling in, the complex of buildings in a small dimly lit gravel parking lot can be difficult to negotiate. An email I received provided a Pin code. Also in the email was few specifics of exactly what room. We noticed key lock boxes on the walls of the rooms. The email also had a reference to Room 1. I attempted to open the lock box there. It did not work. I was kindly told through the window that someone was already in the room. This day and age I am lucky I was not shot. Pretty embarrassing. We finally located the main lock box on the wall of the unstaffed office. My pin did not work. I called the emergency number and was given the correct pin. We were able to extract our key and get to our room. The room itself was nicely decorated. One of the nicest showers I have ever seen in a hotel. Tile work was top notch. The room was comfortable. Our stay was one night as we were headed to further out the Keys. Once there was daylight, as we walked about, it is a nice facility, probably really nice for those in scuba community. I know our visit was an unsettling one. I guess I could best say, this wasn't what I was expecting. After our departure, we headed down the road to Doc's Diner. That was a great breakfast place. So much so, when we were coming back through, we stopped again. Second time as good as the first. read more

Had an amazing dive at city of Washington and undersea highway. Our instructor Kaylen was very patient and made sure my husband and I were very safe. Kent was the instructor for the rest of my family and he made it a great experience for them. The whole team is fun, funny, and makes novice scuba divers (like me) feel comfortable. Aaron was also an amazing first mate and made instructions informative and funny. Same for the captain. He was a great boat driver. Would definitely dive with them again! This resort is just wonderful. This is our 2nd time staying with them and it's still a treat just like the 1st stay. Our kids got certified for open water dive and their instructor Kalen is amazing. She helped them overcome this tough course esp my daughter who was hesitant to jump out the boat at first. They were patient with her. We dive along when they were getting their certification and it's nice to not have to worry about our kids because they were in good hands. We were able to enjoy diving by ourselves for the first time. The rooms and service were amazing too. We got the townhome this time and it was spacious for our family. And also, the food truck has amazing and affordable breakfast!!! read more

I am very disappointed with this resort. I had to cancel my reservation due to a family emergency. I called almost a month in advance to explain the situation and give them plenty of notice. I had to pay half the price of the stay at the time of booking which was months ago, and they are keeping that deposit and not refunding any of it. The only consolation is that they wouldn't charge me the 2nd half of the cost of the stay. I could understand if I did this last minute but not with advance notice. It just seems wrong that they would keep my deposit when they have plenty of time to still fill the room. read more

Warning If you're anti fun and don't enjoy awesome scuba diving then stay far away from Amoray Divers. My son did his check out dives here in the Keys and we went with these guys on 8 dives in 2 days. Both are captains were extremely awesome, kind and gave us tons of information. The mates were extremely awesome and made sure we had everything we needed, including jolly ranchers lol. We will be back here and plan to go with them many more times. My GF bought me a dive experience - 2nd diving but it's been 30 years! I'm a strong swimmer and experienced with breathing apparatus as a former firefighter, so a lot was familiar/similar and easy for me to take in. Grace was my instructor - I was the o Lu one that day so we flew through the pool training. Lemme say, Grace is the bomb! Super friendly and experienced, and knowledgeable - not just about diving, but about all types of marine life; she taught me so many cool facts and information I should've taken notes to remember it all!! I highly recommend having her as your instructor. Training finished, I had a few hours to kill and she recommend several brunch places. Met back for the 12:30p launch and was advised the waves were 4-5 ft. They gave me the option of rescheduling but I was excited to go and have usually done fine on choppy waters. 30min ride out to 1st location; I did feel queasy but once in and under I was fine. I don't recommend going out for your first time in such choppy waters unless you are super confident in your abilities - swimming and strength wise as well as managing the scuba gear. Grace was with me every step of the way, but for someone who is timid in any way these co dictions would have overwhelmed you. SO - first dive was awesome... Grace pointed out so many little cools things she talked about during training that I absolutely would have missed. Got back in boat and headed to the second location. I was super queasy and told her I didn't think I could do the second but she assured me once in the water I would feel better - and she was right! This dive, we swam with a turtle, saw a big eel, and discovered a nurse shark chilling under coral rock! As we headed back I was super queasy again and per the training, yea, I vomited into my regulator. Mentally hard to do bc you want to rip it off. I was close to surface and Grace was monitoring me but didn't intervene as she saw I handled it properly. Vomited another time at surface, and then boarded. Felt decent after emptying my stomach! lol. Anyway, I highly recommend this business and Grace as an instructor. I also recommend on not trying to be macho like me and wait for less choppy conditions!! You won't regret it. read more

We went on a snorkel trip with Amoray and it was wonderful. The crew are all helpful, informative, and you can tell they enjoy their jobs and like to make sure everyone has a great time. We went to Elbow Reef and saw 2 different shipwrecks. When we pulled up to the spots, before jumping in, the guide told us exactly which areas we would likely see the most activity. We saw so many creatures! A sea turtle, pufferfish, nurse shark, barracuda, and more. Super fun time at Amoray! We got here and they had upgraded us to a beautiful 2 BR with our own waterfront balcony. Some of our favorites: housekeeper Anna Marie was so cheerful and sweet. Love her! This review details my dangerous experience as a formally loyal customer and current DMT, to warn clients of the fraud, violation of standards, and predatory behavior I experienced with David Sowers over the course of 6 weeks and several thousand dollars spent. David sold/trained me for a tech class he was not certified or qualified to teach, under the guise he was was a "technical instructor". This would mean he had significantly more training than he actually does, particularly with teaching students in high risk scenarios (EG: new gear, increased depths, overhead environments). Tech instructor certifications are not easy to obtain/maintain, and you must certify a certain number of students to progress. Based on what David told me, I believed he had extensive training and had taught a large number of students in technical (higher risk) scenarios. This is the only reason I trusted him to teach me how to work with additional cylinders, dive in overhead environments, and go to new depths. This is also why I purchased a tech class from him/ Amoray, but he was never able to give me the certification I paid/trained for. This is because David DOES NOT have any technical instructor certifications, training, or experience. This became apparent as I worked with actual tech instructors who observed how poorly, and potentially dangerously, my gear was set up. Upon further investigation, I learned that in addition to lying to me every day for 6 weeks, David has been expelled by other dive agencies (SDI/TDI) for similarly reckless behavior. I still don't understand David's motivation, but noticed consistently spotty judgment in his interactions with younger females. I'm a younger female, but married (as David well knows), so hate to speculate more on his intentions. I removed a previous post at the urging of the owner, Jeff, who assured me David would be terminated after the three of us sat on a conference call and David admitted to events listed above. It's now come to my attention that David is still at Amoray, so it seems that Jeff simply wanted me to take my review down before DEMA (big scuba conference + marketing opportunity for Amoray). I understand that most divers go to Amoray for a weekend of fun-diving, and their services might seem adequate for that. That said, we make ourselves vulnerable anytime we dive with a professional and David admittedly preyed on my vulnerability. Furthermore, Amoray's pervasive culture of permissiveness and dishonesty has no place in the dive industry. read more

I am writing about the snorkeling trip we took. Was told it was on a catamaran. It was a pontoon boat. It was really a dive excursion that threw in snorkeling. Had to ask for a life vests. All they had were these vests you need to inflate. Kept floating up on our faces. I live on the water. Never get seasick but 1/3 of the snorkelers and divers got ill. They kept saying " make sure you throw up over the edge of the boat...don't get it on the boat and the fish love it! WTF people? Is the Crew looking for entertainment? Not ONE PERSON suggested dramamine prior to the trip, knowing a lot of people get sick. If a third of your restaurant business or a third of your customers at any business got sick on a regular basis, would it not make sense to alert people, prior to the departure? Very unaware. Be advised...get a patch, take your dramamine. They won't tell you, f9r whatever reasons...and then they want a " big tip". You gotta earn that tip! read more

We had not been to the Keys or a dive resort before and the process was explained well The room was clean and the bed was quite comfortable. The process of doving was challenging for us but our dive masters were patient, professional, and made the whole experience enjoyable.
