We do want to say that couple of the staff really stood out for excellent customer service - Jo as a dive guide was amazing, as was Savannah on the retail side - but the overall attitude is very much like you are just a number to fill seats. I question the safety standards. We went out in pretty questionable conditions (there was still thunder and lightening when we left the dock), and we witnessed people diving that really had no idea what they were doing, were bouncing around, kicking coral, not at all in control of themselves in the water - and none of this was directly addressed. The customer service in the dive center was pretty terrible - after we purchased over $1000 in equipment at their retail store, we were told we would get a free dive. Cool. So we booked a dive for 3 days later, and when we showed up, we were told that because we booked online instead of calling them, we could not use that free dive. We tried a few times to get this resolved and were just told "well that is our policy." There are so many options for diving in this area, I do not recommend this shop - they do not seem honest or like they really care about the dive experience, just filling seats.

The staff, behind the counter, was extermely unhelpful and we both got the feeling they just wanted us to leave the shop so they don't have to deal with another tourist. We are both experienced divers, just asking to book a dive, but ultimately we decided we would rather give our money to another dive shop in the area that made us feel welcome. I strongly suggest looking for a different dive shop.

I experienced my first ocean dive through the Florida Keys Dive Center and thanks to them, my "mermaid experience" was even better than I imagined. We had a fantastic and knowledgeable captain and guides who took us to the best reefs! We saw gorgeous coral, a few nurse sharks and other small sharks, several rays and the ever elusive moray eel. The cost was around $80 per dive, not including tips. Tip your captain and crew please! They're deserving of it, I promise. It was a fantastic experience and I highly recommend giving them a call if you're looking to dive in the Florida Keys.

5/5 As a first-time…read moresnorkeler, I was extremely nervous before the trip. However, by the time we reached the dive site, all of my anxiety was gone thanks to the amazing crew. The equipment was clean and in excellent condition, the boats were newer and very well maintained, and the entire facility was spotless. They even have great air conditioning, clean changing rooms, and outdoor showers to rinse off after your trip. They also don't fill their boats to capacity, which makes for a much more comfortable and enjoyable experience. They also provided refreshments on board, including chips, water, and soft drinks, which was a nice touch. The crews--Captain Aaron and Ashlynn on our first trip and Captain Brad and Ashlynn on our second--were outstanding. They were funny, professional, and went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt comfortable and safe. The snorkeling itself was incredible. One of the highlights was the Christ of the Abyss snorkel, which was absolutely unforgettable. As a Christian, seeing the Christ statue underwater brought me back to where it all began. To think that Christ made everything around you and all the creatures is truly a tribute. We saw colorful tropical fish, a stingray, moray eel, and even sea turtles. Rent the GoPro--you won't regret it. We were amazed at how much wildlife we captured on video that we completely missed while we were in the water. It was such an amazing experience that we booked a second trip before leaving. I honestly have no negatives. If we're ever back in the Keys, Silent World will be our first stop. The one thing that wasn't my favorite was that they don't have a DM in the water and since I didn't go with a buddy, I was forced to pay $40 for a guide - even though they were super easy dives and I would have been absolutely fine on my own. 25 feet max, very very easy, and the guide kept redirecting me to what he wanted to look at. Every time I would swim off he would come get me and "redirect" me. It was kind of annoying. I just wanted to swim around and he kept pointing at things that I had no idea what he was trying to show me. It was weird. He was very nice though. The boat was reasonably comfortable but no snacks are offered. No help to get gear on or off boat. I'm spoiled by my usual boats though. But we did see a pod of dolphins on the ride back so that was cool.

I booked and paid for a sandbar boat trip and snorkeling excursion. While we did attempt snorkeling, the weather and water conditions were extremely poor--choppy water, stormy weather, and very limited visibility. The conditions were so rough that it made us feel sick, and snorkeling itself was difficult. Some of the people on the boat only went in a few minutes because it was so choppy. We were told both on the phone and in person that we would be going to Alligator Reef, (another woman on the boat said she asked the guy at the counter for the tour if we were going to Alligator Reef and he said yes), but due to the conditions, this was not the experience we were promised. Because of the weather, we were unable to go to the sandbar at all (rain, clouds, choppy water). In hindsight, the trip should not have gone out that day given the conditions, especially since the main destinations could not be accessed safely. WHICH WAS MOST LIKELY WHY WE WERE THE ONLY BOAT OUT ON THE WATER-- DIDN'T SEE ANOTHER BOAT THE ENTIRE TIME. The other thing- people snorkel in Florida because it's warm and clear. This day was raining, choppy, murky and cold! We were offered the option to return the following day by Jerry (Wednesday the 14th) for the sandbar. However, when we came back, the weather was again bad, and your staff advised that you likely would not be going out. This resulted in another wasted trip, and ultimately, we never received the sandbar portion of the experience we paid for. I was then told I could use the sandbar trip on a future visit, but I live in California and do not have plans to return, making that option unrealistic. To be clear, I did not request a refund for the entire excursion (although, I really should)--only for the sandbar portion, since that service was never provided. Even though we purchased the snorkel sand bar trip, they take you out on the boat to snorkel, make you come all the way back in to pick up more people, then go all the way back out again, so half your trip is just chartering people. That wasn't the issue (just putting that in here for others so that they know). It was so cold and choppy and nauseating that there is no way someone should be going to the sandbar! I was hoping we would have been able to resolve this directly and professionally, but the company didn't respond. It was not a fun environment for snorkeling, and clearly the company went out anyways because it's a business and they care more about your money than your experience. It was freezing and nauseating. After speaking to several employees at our hotel, they said that the company should never have taken any of us out that day and that the boating company often promise things and underdeliver and that they don't personally recommend that company to people that come in. I wish I had not booked ahead of time and spoke to someone onsite first. Also we have only one photo on the boat because it was so choppy that people were having trouble standing up to take a photo! I gave 1 star because the two men captaining the boat were fabulous and although they had to take us out by force, they were good at explaining how to snorkel and tried to make the most of it. When asked if we were going to Alligator Reef like promised, they said, "Look out there, it's pouring, it's bad here but it will be way worse out there."
