Very convenient Northwestern / Sports restaurant after you've done anything in Evanston whether it's catching a movie, shopping or going to a NW football game. This spot has a bit of an upscale vibe with commensurate prices including an amazing Kale & Quinoa salad (trust me!) and good pizza, sandwich and burger options. They recently removed grilled chicken from the menu but they will convert any sandwich or burger into one if you ask. The kitchen was a little sloppy tonight but the service was excellent about remedying the situation.

$17.94 for this two piece Cheese Quesadilla. Rip-off! - A white plate holds two slices of cheese quesadilla, one large and one smaller, with a golden-brown crust, held by a person's hand. The background shows a black counter and some electronic devices.

I ordered a cheese Quesadilla last night for delivery. It cost 17.94. Total ripoff. When I called to complain, the manager was very disrespectful and downright nasty.

Ended up walking on Central Street to try and find a restaurant to stop in and grab dinner. The Bluestone Happy Hour sign from 4-7 on weekdays was enticing enough for me and my friend to go in. When we came inside and got to our table we asked for a booth but we were told reservations were coming in and would be utilizing the booths. So we sat in regular seats. By the end of our time eating and drinking we noticed we could have easily sat in the booths because reservations had not come in yet and we wouldn't have disrupted these reservations that were in place. Besides that, service and food was good. I enjoyed the burger and fries I ordered. A bit on the pricey side, especially for the appetizers, but overall a good experience was had at Bluestone.

A wooden table with plates of food, drinks, and condiments is set inside a restaurant near a window with curtains.

I'm new to the area. Moved here from the West Coast. Like most city folk, I regularly dine out and in 30 years I've dined out, I have never had an experience as unsettling as Bluestone Grill. Let me say, I'm a black woman with a bi-racial child. Last week, I took my 2.5 yo toddler to lunch at Bluestone. It was slow. We were sat at an empty window bench. As my son was eating his grilled cheese sandwich, he was swinging his feet and passively hitting the bottom of the bench with the back of his rubber-soled shoes. I had to take a call. The waitress dropped the check, and then the manager, who was working on her computer in the bar, came over and spoke to my toddler directly and said, "Hey bud, can you stop kicking your chair--." I interrupted her and said, "Ma'am, please don't talk to my child directly. I'm sitting right here." She then, turned to me with a scowl and said, "well, he's misbehaving and you're just sitting there letting him do it." I disagreed and reiterated the point, "still, talk to me, not my kid." She then went further and said, "he's damaging our property and you're just sitting there." I then said, he's two, he's not damaging your property, and he is not 'misbehaving' he's just being a normal 2 yo child eating a grilled cheese sandwich. She rolled her eyes and stormed off back to her computer. I followed her and asked if she was the owner. She said she was the manager. I asked the waitress who the owner was. She was afraid to answer. She said "I'm not going to argue with you." I again said, "you don't talk to someone's kid directly to chastise them when their parent is sitting right next to them. That's inappropriate." For me, it felt like the manager was looking past me and talking to a race of people or all the customers with kids. I don't know, but whatever the reason it felt like we were being judged, policed, and, quite frankly, harrassed for no good reason. The thump of my child's little 2 yo feet did not warrant all that negative energy on a weekday afternoon. Especially when the check was already served and it's a SPORTS BAR. I've looked over the reviews and have seen other people have had disrespectful and biased experiences with the management and staff at this restaurant. I contacted the owner, Pat Fowler. He insisted on a phone call that never happened so I got on a call with the other owner, Molly Fowler. She was completely defensive. She said her husband was handling and she didn't know what I wanted. After writing the whole experience in an email, I had to go through the whole thing again. She didn't think there was anything wrong with correcting someone's kid if they're running around a restaurant. But my kid wasn't running around the restaurant, he was sitting right next to me. She could see the mom-shaming in that but her manager is an older lady who does things differently. The manager also lied and said, the customers next to us complained. There was no customer next to us, a fact that the owners could've verified by checking table numbers at the time I was in their restaurant. I pointed out, I was entitled to have boundaries for my child, and a restaurant manager's appropriate response to my reasonable request should have been, "No problem. Can you please get him to stop kicking the bench." I have friends who own restaurants, and I have a hard time believing there is a context under which they would be okay with a manager chastising a PAYING CUSTOMER's kid for no serious reason; telling a customer that they were "just sitting there letting their kid misbehave" when the kid is quietly eating a sandwich, or telling a customer they were allowing their kid to "damage property" when no damage was evident would be a red flag. If I owned a restaurant, the statements would be a tell that the manager has gotten too comfortable speaking to customers out of turn. Especially when there are complaints about management on review sites. Maybe it's hard to find restaurant managers, but this place doesn't seem to care much about customer service or its patrons beyond collecting money for mediocre food. The manager should've been reprimanded not defended. I'll be shocked if this place stays profitable much longer with this level of customer service.

Yum - A white plate holds two quesadillas, guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo, served on a wooden table.

Today is a great day to walk around. Haven't seen the sun out for days. And it's more than a bright day cuz of the sun. It's a nice day to stumble across a nice place for a meal and good vibes. Thanks for the nice hospitality and the food look great and was yummy yummy too.

Found out it's Italian, so based on positive reviews, my wife and I went there early last night. To start they bring out a warm mini-loaf of crusty bread with a small serving of garlicky olive tapenade -- we knew right away we were gonna enjoy this place. The Bella salad had a huge amount of arugula, pear, figs and goat cheese, enough for two. My wife had a special: spinach stuffed ravioli, with a paper thin dough -- very light and buttery. I had the tasty vermicelli amatriciana -- a huge serving, the leftovers was my lunch today. What's interesting was the waitstaff tag-teamed us: Everyone could do everything from take our orders to bus dishes -- you could see they were pros, had worked together for a long time. The only negative (which I will not deduct a star for): There were two huge TV's playing with their sound off -- this did not add anything, were rather distracting. But the food and service won us over -- we will be back.

I was looking for a place to have dinner with a former co-worker who lives up near the border of…read moreWisconsin. I was trying to find a place at least midway between us and discovered Carlos and Carlos on Yelp. Carlos and Carlos is old school from the perspective you actually have to call the restaurant to make a reservation. The space itself is located in what I think is a condo building. The space itself is compact, with tables relatively close together. We ended up sitting at table next to the kitchen door, which for me turned out not to be too bad as we were not sitting on top of other folks. The restaurant and bar were packed as it was a Saturday. Based on the size of the space and number of tables, I would strongly suggest making a reservation if you go there. We started out with fresh bread and one of their specials for the night: flash fried calamari served w/fresh tomatoes, pepperoncini peppers, shaved garlic, black olives, capers & garlic butter. This was a first for me as I have never had calamari served this way and it was great. Definitely a dish I would drive back to get. The bread was wonderful and hot. I could see through the kitchen as fresh bread was being pulled out of either a warmer or oven, not sure. It was served with some sort of olive oil and pesto, I think. It made for a lovely spread on the bread. For dinner I ordered a dish called "Meatballs" and it was just that, a whole lotta meatballs with some spaghetti thrown in as a side...HAHAHA! Not complaining, just staying a fact. The meatballs and pasta were good, but I would say there was a fair amount of garlic in the dish. I had my dish as a leftover and as I was warming it up, The Doctor commented that he could smell the garlic. The Doctor had the Pollo Vesuvio, which also came with pasta. I had a small piece and it was pretty nice. Again there was more meat than pasta, but again we were not complaining. The chicken was nice and tender and had a lovely flavor to it. My GF got the Risotto Al Fungi (Arborio served with wild mushrooms & goat cheese). Prior to sampling her dish, I would have absolutely stated that this was a dish I would not order in a restaurant as I wouldn't have any interest in it. I tried a spoonful of my GF's and was amazed at how good it was! The broth that the risotto was cooked in was chicken and I think beef. That with the goat cheese made this a very nice dish and the second reason I would drive here to do a repeat visit for dinner. Portion sizes were nice as The Doctor and I had plenty to eat and enough for light snack the next day. My GF had no leftovers, she became a member of the clean plate club. For dessert we shared a slice of the chocolate mousse cake, which was really nice. It had a lovely dark flavor to it and was creamy in texture. Service was nice and everyone was friendly. There is plenty of street parking within walking distance as well. While this is a bit of a drive for us to get to since it is outside of the city, I could see coming back here. I think I want to try a serving of that risotto on my own instead of a taste.

We ordered two rolls as well, salmon rice bites, two appetizers, and two sides of sashimi. So we left three of the nigiri on the plate.., the rolls were not great as well... seeing how off the nigiri was left quite a bit of the sashimi on the plate. Forced ourselves to eat since our bill came to $180 with tip but seeing the amount of food left the server kindly asked us to whether we wanted to box anything and didn't want to get sick so politely declined. Seeing that most of the tables around us stuck to ramen understand that is why this place has good reviews.... The star is purely for the service (they sweetly took a picture of three of us) and the table was comfortable with one side being a bench against a brick wall and TVs showing the world series but a really expensive mistake to make worst of all it was my one night of dinner seeing my daughter at college and not the way that I wanted her to remember our time together.
