It has been 9 weeks since I wrote my original review of Blue Pearl in Paramus. My dog was only 4.5 years old, she was beautiful and sweet. She couldn't breathe through her nose when she died, as it was filled with puss. The vet that euthanized her said it was either a nasal abscess or septisemia. She was in excruciating pain. I see the fear in her eyes ever time I close mine. I left her at Blue Pearl on Friday and picked her up the following Tuesday,at a cost of 10,000. The dog that was returned to me on Tuesday, could barely walk. I remember asking myself, omg why did I leave her there? We left her there because we trusted Dr. Davidson, we liked him, WE MADE A MISTAKE. The Dr's change , one Dr goes home and a new one comes on, and everything changes. I spoke with Dr Davidson on Saturday and his exact words to me was that he was very pleased with her progress, and that she was looking really good. My heart soared, thinking we could bring her home. He suggested 1 more night on oxygen and a new Dr would call me on Sunday to let me know how she was doing. We wanted what was best for her so we agreed. Sunday new Dr, more's tests, more money. After she died and I started asking questions, I found out that on sunday the oxygen nebula that was stitched right below her right nostril was coming loose, so they removed it and stitched it in her left nostril. They remove the nebula by cutting it out, stupid me thought she was in a kennel that was oxgenated, as none of this was explained to us, and we just didn't think to ask. It's Monday and guess what, new Dr. Calling me insisting she needed to do bone marrow biopsy to rule out cancer. I wouldn't agree, and told her I was confused because Dr Davidson told me she was getting better ,and the Dr on Sunday said so too. Nothing had gotten worse, and her bloodwork had improved. I called several times on Tuesday to make sure she got all her meds through her iv. When I got there iv was out and no meds were given. Their excuse was miscommunication by the vet tech with the Dr. She never got any of my messages! (I should explain she was on iv doxicyclin for lymes.) The doxy was very hard on her gastrointestinal tract so we opted for iv treatment. I was calling to check on her everyday, and the information I received was different ever time I called. Is she eating, yes she is. She ate really good today, if I called back the same day, I was told, no she hasn't eaten since yesterday. When I started questioning them about what they were telling me I was told, oh yeah that's right, I made a mistake she did eat today. I truly wonder if she was eating. At home I noticed she was dripping blood from her nostril, I took a flashlight and saw puss inside her nostril. Took her to local animal hospital who cleaned out her nose and gave me antibiotic ointment, and said she had a slice or cut on her muzzle. Also told me to call Blue Pearl and ask them how it happened. I spoke with Nari at Blue Pearl who explained about the oxygen nebula. I remember asking her if you stitch it to her muzzle how do you get it OUT? WE CUT IT OUT! With scissors. I said omg whoever cut it out, cut her or tore it out and she has an infection. No Dr until tomorrow, but they will call the next day. Her face begins to swell, her nose is seperating from her muzzle, she can't breathe thru her nose, her eyes are filled with fear! We rushed her back to local animal hospital who wanted us to take her to blu epearl, and we declined. She was in alot of pain, and the vet said she had never seen anything like it. She felt it was either a abscess or sepsis from the wound on her face. She asked me if I had taken pictures, and I told her yes. She also said based on what she was seeing she would no longer refer to Blue Pearl. The Dr said it could easily be another 15,000 to 20,000 and no guarantee she would make it. I had taken all of my bills with me and I was at about 14,000 already. We chose to put her to sleep. I was trying to save her, but ended up torturing her by putting my trust in Blue Pearl. I will never forgive myself for going to Blue Pearl. I have spoken spoken to so many people who have lost their pets at a Blue Pearl facility. They are located across the United States and owned by mars Corp. If you read a good review about them, ask yourself if that person's husband, wife or other family member is an employee of theirs, as that has happened. I don't expect you to read my review and agree with me, I'm only asking that you keep an open mind and do your research on facebook and online before you choose to take your pet here. My husband and I are older, all our children are grown and have families of their own. Our pets are our family, and we love them like family. Please choose wisely. read more
