I am NOT a makeup person. If I ever needed anything, I would just go to CVS or Walgreens and just buy whatever I used to buy for my skin when I was in middle school. I decided, being almost 40 and on the job market, to finally invest a bit in my appearance. I walked into Blue Mercury and was treated like a long-time, valued customer. I didn't catch the name of the folks that helped me, but they advised me on what the best thing was to buy for the simplest makeup application, and even gave me some samples so I had a proper mascara to use on the day. I visited this store a few weeks ago with two friends but this has been on my mind ever since. While the store is stunning, the customer service really ruined our experience. There were two employees working. Only one paid attention to us even though we all needed individual help. We found this employee to be dismissive and quite frankly, insulting. My friend asked for a highlighter and the employee said sarcastically "well what have you been seeing online that you like?" When she showed us a product she said someone on tik tok with lots of "older followers" likes this product - we are in our 30s. That is offensive. She then proceeded to pretty much ignore us and the other employee there paid us no attention. For an expensive store that requires assistance, this was extremely disappointing. read more

I went in to Blue Mercury just to browse but ended up asking for some Surratt products. The salesperson asked if that was all I wanted and I said "yes from that brand". She went to go and find the product and I was waiting and had picked up another item I wanted to purchase in the meantime. I saw her go up to the front of the store and get on the phone. Come to find out she started helping someone else and never acknowledged me again. I was with my friends and we all walked out and nobody acknowledged that we left the store even though I had asked for a specific item to purchase. So rude. I wanted to support a local store but I took pictures of the items to purchase online before I left. Will not return. read more

We all came for a makeup session. The makeup artist used one of us as his model and had the rest of us follow along. He explained everything clearly and with the product was and did for your skin. This is a great place to buy your makeup and skin care. They have their own brand and also other popular brands. Their parfums are limited I do believe they carry all Channel fragrances. If you wear, Channel they have it, if you want Bobby Brown they have it, if you want......they might just have it. Went into Blue Mercury looking for a specific item. The salespeople clearly did not want to help me. Perhaps my too casual athletic wear wasn't fancy enough for them, or I left my diamond rings at home in this heat. Left without purchasing (I'll spend my money elsewhere.) Won't be back. Customer service couldn't be worse. Bought an overpriced Caudalie cream that didn't work out and kept box intact. Bought it months ago admittedly and couldn't find receipt. When I called the store they said I could bring it in for exchange. When I came in they gave me a different story. Said they wouldn't take it back it for a store credit despite the fact that they confirmed they were easily able to lookup the transaction in their system using my phone number. Pathetic. Bluemercury is a high end cosmetics and skincare store that also sells some basic home goods (candles). The store itself is beautiful. It's so bright, clean and shiny. The make up is well displayed and you can try out everything! Think or it like a much, much nicer Sephora! Some of the brands include Nars, La Mer, Bumble and bumble, fresh, Laura mercier, and Bobbi brown. The staff here is knowledgable and talented. If you're looking for make up or skincare you are in the right place. The store itself feels much cleaner, more relaxing, and more intimate than the mall. If your just out to browse on your own, you won't feel pressured either. As with most things in west Hartford center, parking can be tough. You will likely pay for a lot or street parking (if you can find it). Given the high end names, the products are also on the high side, but that's to be expected. I feel like most people that go in looking for those specific products are already well aware of the cost. read more

Three weeks ago I visited the Bluemercury in Glastonbury and was left with a terrible first impression by sales people who didn't acknowledge or greet me for the entire duration of my visit in their store. Today, I visited the West Hartford location... What a difference! Night and day! Not one. but two associates approached me to help me and answer any questions. Lauren the manager) is the BEST. She is so helpful and honest, and does a great job of recommending products that you will actually use. If a color doesn't flatter you, she tells it like it is. The atmosphere in the store is bright and very clean, the staff is always friendly and helpful, and it is my first choice place to go when I'm either just in the mood for a new lipstick or I'm looking a full seasonal makeup overhaul. What a fabulous venue with the wonderful sales associates led by manager Loren. Every time I walk in the store I am greeted warmly by one or more knowledgable associates ready to help me. I especially like that those that I have dealt with know all of the product lines - to those that I see in the department stores to Blue Mercury's own line, a real find. Love the brand's body & hand lotions and its facial products. There is never any feeling of pressure to buy as so often happens at other stores. The esthetician was so knowledgeable! I have had facials in most places around WeHa and I have never experienced this level of knowledge about recent products and face massage technics. My daughter went to Bluemercury on her own to be made up for her senior prom. She could not see what the male employee was doing, but when she finally saw a mirror, she complained to him that his make-up application was too light for her actual skin color. He disagreed. Because she is a teenager, she paid and left. I was home when she came back and when I opened the front door I couldn't believe her face. She looked like a ghost - the make-up color in no way was close to her skin tone and it looked ridiculous. She knew it and was very upset. She ended up washing it off and doing it herself and looked 100% better. I suggest that the employees listen to their customers, especially in light of their prices. If it wasn't for the time deadline of the prom, we would have marched back to town. Lesson learned for my daughter. Customer lost for Bluemercury. read more

I'm a little late in writing this review, but oh well..So I'm someone who has very little make up skils. My make up blending skills has it's limit. My ideal make up kit would be easy breezy stuff. Else, I'm out without anything. It was my graduation evening and I wanted "some" make up. After running some errands, I happened to walk by this store and just walked in to get some foundation and stuff. I had tried a few so far and none of them were easy. So here I am, wanting just some basic stuff which will be easy to apply. One of the consultants(I want to say her name was Nicole, but it's been two months and I might be wrong) here helped me so well and was super quick (super important as i was running late). She got me the perfect kit from foundation to lipstick to mascara to eye shadow to some other stuff.. All of these were with such easy applicators, that it felt perfect. Now it barely takes 2-3 mins for me to get my full make up on! and the best part, she did my make up for the graduation in like 5-10 mins. And it looked perfect. It looked so natural but neat, I loved it. My graduation pics were great. Love this store. read more
