I am a definate wig and hair piece lover and Solid Gold is a pretty good place to get your hair fix. The store is set up like most ghetto hair and beauty supply spots, its located in a strip mall in West Hartford, next to Pretty woman and Rainbow. GHETTO FABULOUS.
When you walk in there are guys peddling gold chains and nameplates and watches for like $200 or more. On the wall there are various wig caps, barettes, headbands, and other hair supplies. In the middle of the store there are oodles and oodles of well priced specialty hair care lines (african american and hispanic lines), including all the new ones you will see in Hype Hair and Sophisticates black Hair. In the very back of the store are a plethora of wigs and half wigs. They have a huge selection of lace fronts, including a small offering of human hair lace fronts (those suck though just not enough to choose from), and on the side walls you will find lots of weave and bulk hair. Obviously the more expensive pieces are behind the counter as in any ghetto store, but there are like over a hundred wigs and pieces to choose from. I like to go in there and try on anything new i see, and then i go home and go online to hairsisters.com and check for a lower price (and generally they are almost always cheaper), but if you are in a pinch the price at Solid Gold and selection beats waiting for your new look in mail.
Oh yeah, one more thing, when you first walk in the store there is a small table at the windown advertising cheap wigs for like some insane price (today it said 11.99) well trust me, you will look like you bought a cheap wig. PLEASE divas don't buy them, they are ugly poor and wack! Tacky!
