Bluemercury has some great products in stock. I personally only shop there for the Diptyque candles, which i believe is the largest in the area. They have a wide selection of trendy lines in the beauty world and the shop is small and cute; however....the staff seems a bit out of it. Every time I walk in, they ignore me until i ask a question. Plus, I was there 3 times in one month and no one remembered me? It's not H&M people, at least pretend you care about who walks in! read more

I'm used to the warm demeanors displayed at the Princeton, NJ, Philadelphia and Ardmore PA. Blue Mercury stores. I was at this location twice. Once getting ready for a meaningful date. I felt utterly invisible. The surly attitude of the employees was a shock when Im normally a fan of Blue Mercury. I did contact the CEO about this already. And received a lovely apology and 50 dollar gift card. I am relocating to D.C. in July and hope to find the attitudes at this location much improved. read more

I'm not the kind of woman who normally shops at stores like this. I'm more au natural. But, I was told by a friend this store has some phenomenal products for the "older woman". Upon entering, I was met by a friendly young woman. She was quite helpful, and very knowledgable about the products. When I mentioned the cost of some, she was quick to tell me LEGITIMATE reasons as to why the costs were so elevated. Vanity is one thing Americans will pay for, time and time again. After a good 30 minute browsing/educational tour, I was ready to check out. The young lady walked me to the sales counter, and began ringing up my shop. She was friendly, polite, and very accomplished in her role. As she was reaching the bottom of my basket, a woman came over and interrupted. She asked the young lady to go in the back to do inventory, and tried taking over. I asked to speak to the manager, as I found this a VERY rude action. When she informed me she IS the manager, I told her "no thank you", and left. Because of Roxy, I shall ONLY visit stores this rude, impetuous "manager" is not! read more

Blue Mercury has a new rewards program which I found confusing and the e-mails were going to spam on my computer. I was one day late in trying to redeem a $25.00 reward after spending $700 just the month before. I spoke to the local manager and wrote to BM Customer Services, and they both basically said "too bad for you- your mistake." There is no customer loyalty with this company- I will be buying my Holiday beauty gifts elsewhere. today i had an outstanding 90 minute swedish massage with lilliam, who is the only massage therapist there. she is GREAT at what she does. i highly recommend her. for me, the test of a soothing, relaxing swedish massage is whether my thoughts start to drift into weird dreamy places (what?...turtles?) and i slip in and out of sleep during the service. this definitely happened. only tiny drawback is that the spa area is small and does not have amenities like a shower, steam room, full dressing room. but the massage is more than right on. read more

So I usually get my eyebrows threaded, but thought I'd give this place a try because someone had told me they do a good job. BIG MISTAKE!!!! I'm not super picky about how they are done, but he made them so thin!!!! My boyfriend (who NEVER notices anything about changes in my appearance) noticed my "face looked different". That says a lot. I shop at Bluemercury on a regular basis, stocking up on beauty products, makeup and perfumes. I have visited both the Georgetown and Dupont locations multiple times and there is a definitely a difference in customer service that needs to be stated. The salespeople at the Georgetown appear to be less knowledgeable about the products, not as friendly or helpful. Case in point: I popped by the Georgetown location to pick up some products and asked for a sample of another product, which the saleslady said she couldn't provide (it wasn't out--she said it would be "difficult". When I went to the Dupont location the next day, as usual the staff greeted me with friendliness, helpful attitudes, and of course, samples of the exact same product I couldn't get at the Georgetown location. I am a fan of Bluemercury and the business model. However, the experiences at the Georgetown location are always less than stellar, whereas the Dupont salespeople are eager to help you and answer all your questions, regardless of if you spent $15 or $150. The salespeople at the Georgetown location could definitely take some tips from their Dupont colleagues, and I hope someone addresses this discrepancy soon. A convenient and pleasant shop to sample fragrances by Creed and Tocca. An overall nice selection of products in a pleasing environment. It can get a little cramped at times, but always feels much nicer of an experience than Sephora which can be a bit jarring and loud. read more

Do not shop at Blue Mercury online! (1) Their website is not user friendly - I wanted to search for an item & I could never find it unless I searched through all of the products of that brand. (2) Twice I have tried to add a 'free treat' to my bag and by the time I finished entering my credit card #, the item is no longer available (3) Customer service reps are useless. The are trained to say 'I'm sorry to hear that' & 'Is there anything else I can do?' - which is a joke because they sound insincere & they can't/won't do anything to help. (4) I have left at least 3 voicemails for Marla Beck (202-342-9800 ext. 201) & I'm still waiting for a response, which will never come. (5) For a luxury goods company, they have no idea how to treat luxury clients. I don't see Blue Mercury surviving more than a year if they continue on this way - horrible customer service, bad website, clueless to what can make or break a luxury brand. I wanted to treat my wife to a massage for her birthday, and I was near the Bethesda location, so I popped in to see if they offered massages. They told me that they did and sold me a gift card to cover a 90 minute massage. When my wife tried to schedule it, she was informed that they only offer massages at the Georgetown location. Only on Saturdays. Only from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. No one at the store told me this when they were ringing up the $150 for the gift card. My wife works on Saturdays. I was pissed and felt ripped off, but Blue Mercury is a high end store with a decent reputation, so my wife decided to hold on to the gift card and wait for the next Saturday she had off. The first time she scheduled the massage, Blue Mercury called and cancelled a few days before because they said the massage therapist wasn't available. So I guess this means they only have one person available once a week for three hours. Why even bother offering the service at all?!? She was finally able to book the massage a few weeks ago. The massage room is a closet. A filthy closet. There was dirt all over the floor and rust stains on the walls. There were four trash cans in the room. Not sure why a tiny utility-closet-turned-massage-room needs FOUR trash cans, but there they were. And the worst part, it reeked of vomit. She asked the massage therapist if he smelled it too, and he said that the room pretty much smells like whatever is in the street outside. The actual massage was fine, but the overall experience was about as bad as it gets. Avoid this place at all costs. Bottom line: the employees only care about separating you from your money. read more

I used to love all the Blue Mercury's and thought that what set them apart was that their sales personnel were also basically makeup artists, who could offer endless color matching and suggestions. I visited Gtown store recently and found that line of service kind of indifferent. Had better advice at their big neighbor next door. I also miss their cash register checkout. The whole wandering sales associate with a credit card reader to me lacks the satisfying experience of checking out with a flourish, having your merchandise beautifully packaged in a bag, handed over with a smile etc. It felt rushed and insignificant. Basically, shopping is emotional and when I drop as much money as one can at Blue Mercury I would like the whole experience to feel elegant. I do love their product line, but would basically try the product myself at any store's makeup counter, and order online from BM (and get all the sample goodies) than bother checking in at this particular store. read more

I've been going to this location for a few years now and I've seen it go through its ups and downs. I'm delighted to to let everyone know that this store is definitely on its up and its primarily because of Amanda, one of the best and talented aestheticians in the DC area. I went in for a eye brow and upper lip wax and it was the most amazing experience ever. Amanda was fast, gentle, and efficient. She knows how to properly shape your brows based on your face shape and makes them proportioned to what is best suited for you. She is so gentle, you don't even feel the hair being plucked out, or when she applies wax and removes it with the cloth strips, and I got out of her room with very minimal redness on my brows and upper lip. Not only is she an experienced aesthetician, but she is highly knowledgable on skincare products and will choose the best product to compliment the service she did for you. Again, I've been driving from Manassas, VA to this location for years because it was the original bluemercury, and I've come here for the service and pampering, but I do agree that in the past customer service was at its minimum, especially the last 2 years. But there is only good things to come at this location- with new, friendly management and staff and with especially Amanda as one of the top beauty experts there, she is definitely one good reasons to keep coming back at this location for more of everything! I saw their sign out front advertising brow waxing/tinting. I've been wanting to try tinting and not a lot of places in DC do it. I was able to walk in and see someone right away. The back room where they do spa services is quiet and spa-like. I don't love waxing (I prefer threading), but she didn't make them too thin, so I was happy. It's expensive though: $25 for waxing, $30 for tinting. I think I'll keep going to Dupont Threading where I can get my eyebrows done for much less and they look just as good. Blue Mercury is the cutest shop if your looking for a all in one. The brands they offer are exactly what I look for when I go shopping and on top of that they are also a full service spa!! The setting completely changes once you enter the spa and it's so relaxing. My esthetician was Kai and because of her this will be my new spot whenever I'm in town. She was super helpful when it came to product knowledge and understanding of what I needed and not being too pushy like I saw some of the other girls, it felt like shopping with a friend. My service was pleasant & efficient and met all of my waxing needs. ( we all know seeing someone new for our lady parts is hit or miss) So if your in Georgetown and have some time on your hands, I highly recommend stopping by blue mercury & seeing Kai you won't be disappointed! read more

I've found The Truth, and she gave me a Brazilian Bikini Wax that was so good that I could lose track of time standing in the mirror looking at how good I look. No burns. No bumps. No stubble. No strays. No good enoughs for now. No doing it myself, or tidying up someone else's hack job. And best of all, no waiting a ridiculous amount of time for the hair to grow back, so that I can try yet another salon or esthetician. Waxed and plucked to perfection, I left that place smelling like lavender and feeling like the most beautiful woman in the world. My eyebrows are well sculpted, and actually compliment my facial features. My underarms are smooth as a baby's butt, and I actually look forward to getting naked just so I can admire my goodies. Ladies, if you're looking for a good Brazilian Bikini Wax, and you're in the Maryland, DC, Virginia NCR, I wholly suggest you try to get an appointment with Melissa at Bluemercury in Georgetown. She listened extensively to what I wanted, and advised me on what she planned to do before she started. We finished the procedure with a great lavender scented cleanser/toner. Melissa was friendly, thorough and professional. She should have "The Truth" printed on her business cards. If you've never had a Brazilian, maybe you should start with the regular bikini wax. Whatever you do, exfoliate first. It makes a world of difference. The salon is full of products, so it's a bit crowded up front, if there are several people browsing or waiting. The staff was cordial and attentive enough, even pleasant. The waiting area is small, with only a few chairs and a table with magazines, but it was very neat and clean. There are also no nail services. Over all, it was a good day at Bluemercury. Brow, underarm and Brazilian totaled $115. I was happy to leave a tip, as well. It was worth it. She was extremely knowledgeable about the products in which I was interested, skincare in general and actually saved me money by giving me samples of something to try before purchasing to make sure it gave me the results I wanted. Upon check-out, she made sure I knew about the upcoming sale and made herself available to pull products for me so they'd be available on the sale date. I got a gift card to Blue Mercury for Christmas so I went yesterday to get a Brazilian. Based on other reviews, I asked for Melissa. I found out she is no longer employed in this location. I made an appointment with Nora. I arrived early and was taken into my appointment on time. I could hear her talking with her client before me in the room, so it was nice to hear she was pleasant. Nora was definitely more than just pleasant--she was a delight. Very personable and thorough. At $60, the price was steep but if it weren't $25 more than Tammy at Polished, I would go to Nora every time just for the pleasant conversation. I suggest making an appointment in the evening during the week because the store was not busy and street parking on M was available. read more

I personally like to be left alone while i shop - unless I have a particular question and reach out to ask. As for the services, they can depend on the person. The reason I gave this store (yes, it's pricey) such a high rating is because of their customer service. I purchased a tube of lipstick about a month ago (along with some other cosmetics). And I just loved this lipstick. But ... I opened it one day to find that it had broken off inside the tube and was a huge mess. I decided to take it back and see what would happen. Now ... the lipstick could have been defective, or I could have not closed it properly, allowing it to "self twist" and break. Doesn't matter - they didn't ask. I enjoy the vast knowledge and variety this store offers, so ever since I happened upon it, I generally skip the makeup counter and go visit Beverly who tells me everything I put on my face and don't put on my face. Since learning all that I have from her, my skin (and hair) has seen amazing improvement. I might suggest to those out there who skimp on the price you pay for your hair/skin/bath products... DON'T! This is one area that you really need to splurge and go for the stuff that is going to keep you looking young for years to come. I'm even willing to share my skin care consultant here. Ask for her and be assured she'll shoot straight with you and tell you improvements you can make, what you're doing wrong, and how to resolve blemishes should you have any. You can get most anything there as well from masssage to wax to facials and professional makeup artistry. Highly recommend it and giving this place all five stars and I'm not even in the mood to give that great a review so that's really saying something! read more

Although I love the lines that Bluemercury carries, I would never take my business to this particular one. My sister and I went here last Saturday (march 31st) at 8 pm. There were 2 employees and 2 other customers at the time. At no point, in the 35 minutes we were in there, did either of the employees acknowledge us. no "hello", no "can I help you find something", nothing! The manager should do something about this for the simple fact that these employees are causing a loss of business. We did find what we were looking for and we decided to buy all of it elsewhere. read more

Went in to this Blue Mercury to see the highly referred esthetician KIMMI. When I got there the customer service from the clerks in the store was drab. However when I met KIMMI my views changed! She was very welcoming and has such a calming voice. This was the very first time in my life that I got my legs waxed. I told KIMMI that and she gave me such encouraging words and was very patient with me. AND the most important part....I LOVE MY LEGS!!!! She did an amazing job. My legs are so smooth and the results came with little pain. She said she has been in this profession for 17 years and it shows! Her professionalism and knowledge of her craft was impressive! She listened well to my concerns and recommended the store's products for the maintenance of my legs. I will definitely be going back and referring KIMMI to everyone I know!!!! read more

Just had a facial with Kimmie at the Georgetown (Washington DC) spa location. One of the best facials I've ever had. She also treated my pre-teen daughter. Her skills and recommendations were fabulous. My skin is literally glowing. Relaxing yet therapeutic. She recommended products but was not pushy at all. She gave my daughter samples of her suggested regiment to ensure that the products were appropriate for her young skin. We showed up early and Kimmie shortened her lunch break to accommodate us. Will highly recommend to my friends and I will definitely return to Kimmie specifically. read more
