Bluebeard is the best of everything that you could want a small atmosphere that is welcoming, warm and fun as well as a delicious menu that is curated every single day to be unique and fresh with ingredients according to the chefs taste of the day. The best thing you could do is to get appetizers, main courses and desserts to split among your table. Whether you are a NA girl or enjoy specialty cocktails or a glass of wine, there is something for everyone here from the bar. Speaking of the bar that's the best place to sit if you can get there early. (There are several locals like us that know the trick to getting there is to get their right at 4:30 or five when they don't yet put out their dinner menu.) If your star is aligned, the croissant pudding will be on the menu. I promise I am not leading you astray when I say order one for the table and order one to-go for breakfast in the AM. Small establishment with a quirky vibe. Liked all the old typewriters in the bar area. The vegan gazpacho soup and blackberry peach sorbet were very tasty as was the mocktail. My husband thought his salad might've been overdressed with a little too much salt. My only complaint is when we arrived, they didn't seat us so we could get appetizers and drinks while we waited on the rest of the party. Instead, we had to go to the bar, do a tab there, and then another once our other guests arrived and we were sat at our main table. would definitely go back though. read more

From start to finish's, everything was excellent. Our server was very friendly and professional. She gave us excellent recommendations and timed our meals perfectly. Great place for a date night, work lunch, or night out with friends! Bluebeard keeps me coming back. It's just fantastic and I'm so grateful it's right here in Indy (fountain square). This time we started with the Brussels sprouts Caesar. It was so good. It was kind of a safe dish but the dressing was extra tangy and delicious. The apple was a nice twist and the hard boiled egg added some protein! Loved it and the portion was quite big! We also got the potato wrapped walleye, which we weren't sure how it would really be prepared and presented. It exceeded our expectations (as their dishes usually do). The sake yuzu emulsion blew me away - it was light yet buttery and I had to ask for a spoon to get every last drop! The wrap was dough like, but not heavy or too doughy. It provided a nice crispy crust and was really unique. The beets, orange and shallot added earthly flavors but also brightened and sweetened the dish. 1000/10. The bartenders were kind and helpful as always. It was a snow day so it wasn't overly crowded, but the locals made their way into the restaurant! Can't wait to go back per usual. read more

Note: from 3-5pm is snack time, so smaller menu... but still delicious. If you need a place with fine dining and a higher tier of experience I would pick this. My family and I went during the snack time and it was delicious (see pictures). A lot of different flavors with balance between strong and smooth presence. Also the mixologist has my admiration, I tried and recommend the Naive Melody (a creamy bittersweet) and the Forever Fall (tequila-based blend of fruits and bitters). Inside there is a dining area and a bar area, both pristine and with warm welcoming lighting. The repurposed metallic and glassy items play well with the leathers and orange lighting. Why not try a place that has received a James Beard nod? I asked several locals for recs but for some reason they couldn't recommend anything too great. Did my own research and found this place. I love the decor and vibe. They offer outdoor seating and are known for craft cocktails. Unfortunately, I didn't partake..I did however have a great meal. I started with a salad that was HUGE..it was so damn good I just couldn't stop eating it. For my entree, I chose chicken over Grits with an olive tapenade I think..lol. I have to write these within a week bc I forget what I ate. Chicken was cooked well but topping was wayy too salty for me. Great flavor but I needed that saltiness taken down a bit. Staff was friendly and I would love to return if I'm in the area again. Their menu changes frequently so it's nice to know you can always find something new. read more

We have been to Bluebeard a handful of times and each time the food was creative and well balanced. We went recently for dinner with some friends and I was less thrilled about some of the items we ordered. Some of the sides were overseasoned/salty. We had a soup that was definitely too thick/gelatinous and too seasoned. Other items were good and its still a great experience. Service was very professional but almost a little cold for the vibe that seemed to be happening, but everything was accurate and she was happy to split checks in the weird way we did. Overall I give 4 stars because I've enjoyed many meals here, would still go back, but can't say this last experience was the same as my first few. read more

Bluebeard never disappoints and yesterday's visit sealed the deal. The afternoon block was very very busy with 3 big parties. Considering how good the weather was this didn't come as a surprise and our server let us know that our order would take very long. While I would have knocked a star for the wait the food made up for everything. The spring greens salad delicious lemon pepper vinaigrette and fresh vegetables with a topping of creamy feta. The salmon toast was exotic with a charred taste that added so much flavor and warmth to the dish. Bluebeard is a farm to table concept. Highly recommend!!!! read more

Blubeard has always been our go-to special occasion spot, birthdays, anniversaries, etc; however lately it's become our reliable neighborhood spot. The food is just always delicious and comforting and we almost always seem to be able to find a seat at the bar which is our favorite spot to sit. Specifically the bar stools by the window (so for the sake of us please don't sit there at 830 pm). The lighting is soft and the wooden bookcases make the room feel warm and welcoming. Sometimes we just pop by for a nightcap and dessert. The bread pudding is delicious and the cocktails are on point (even though they are lacking local spirits). The space is small so it's also never too loud and by saving grace I think they may be the only restaurant in the city left without a TV so you can actually sit and have conversation with your date. read more

Easily my favorite place I ate in Indianapolis! This is your classic local restaurant that tries to source local ingredients and has lots of unique menu items that are often rotating coupled with a house cocktail list with interesting spins on the classics as well as some challenging new school tonics. I can't remember all the cocktails I got, but they were all fantastic, they had a small selection of beers, but they were all very well curated. My only complaint is that the menu dish I got, the steak, was a bit too rich and opulent for my tastes. There were just too many rich and savory treatments on it. It felt like instant gout. I had to scrape off the cream sauce because I just couldn't handle that many rich and savory flavors at once. The chimichurri, which usually adds lightness and brightness to something like this, had anchovy in it... so there was no respite from the nonstop umami bomb that was this dish. I would absolutely come again, I just wouldn't order this dish. read more

Based on the bartenders recommendation I ordered the squid tagliatelle which was awesome. It was a light dish but still a little more than I could finish. Great service. Awesome cute place. Came here with my girl last night for some vibes and convo and had a good time. We waited for about 45 min for a table. Our server was phenomenal, I think his name was Adam. I ordered a salad (chop salad) and sadly got food poisoning from it. One of Indy's most famous restaurants and longstanding contributor to the community! If I didn't have Bluebeard down the street to stop in for a quick drink and oysters on my walk I don't know what I would do. Top notch full bar with the best service, great for sitting at the bar for some good conversation. Total hipster vibe and perfect for an impressive date. This is not small plate dining: the main portions could be shared even though the starters are on the small side. The papperdelle pasta is my favorite but every item is made with high quality ingridients. Definitely try out the oysters and bread as a starter - deep, rich flavors! read more

I recently learned Bluebeard serves lunch and had to immediately try it out! As one of my top places to try in 2025 it was beyond delicious. Uh-mazing. Ambiance: The tables are packed a little tight but this place has a very cozy feel that is easy to talk/hear in. Service is excellent and they have a solid list of cocktails which are creative and tasty. Food: Their menu rotates regularly but being farm-to-table you rest assured everything will taste very fresh. I would highly recommend get a salad to share even if you're not typically a salad person. The beet & albacore salad and brussel caesar were both creamy and delicious, we practically got full on salad before our entrees even came out because they were so good. The mains they describe as somewhat small plates so we got three and enjoyed them. The hamachi crudo and boneless chicken were our favorites with bright and bold flavors. The squid ink tajarin/pasta was heavier and smokier in flavor and just didn't mesh with the rest of the meal quite as well. The only critique I can possibly leverage is the plating could be more thoughtful if they were trying to win a Michelin star or something but no complaints with the food at all. Overall we had such a great meal here and are looking for excuses to come back. Would highly recommended giving this place a try if you haven't yet, probably one of the best in town. read more

Simply amazing. Fresh, unique flavors. Visiting Indy for the week, stumbled across Bluebeard as a Farm to Table outpost and couldn't have asked for more. Complex and new cocktail offerings led to an amazing shared app and salad, followed by incredible pastas with all the local flavors we could hope for. A crazy good burrata-pine nut pesto pasta was wonderful and a newly introduced stuffed rye pasta with aged Gouda and corn was simply delicious. We're only here two more nights but already talking about a return. read more

There were 6 of us on a Tuesday night. Lamb ribs, duck, ribeye and salmon were all terrific. The desserts were ALMOST too pretty to eat. The chocolate honeybee was decadent, the passion fruit sorbet was nice and tart served in a bright orange colored, white chocolate shaped bowl oh and the pistachio traveler cake mmmm! I even stepped next door and bought delicious black sesame and tahini bread. I'm going to use some for French toast. This is a little pricey, but definitely worth the splurge! read more

The waiter was very knowledgeable on the portions, and was helpful in directing us to which plates we might like best. The food was so good that I only got pictures of the few of the plates! We had dinner here for our anniversary. The staff were friendly, but we felt some lag in between times they would check back in with us. They have a good playlist going on in the background, but not so loud you can't hear across the table. We were seated in the dining area by the entrance, which felt a little cramped with the tables so close together since it's such a small space. The grilled bread was a great starter. We also got half salads (beet and a house-type salad, I can't remember the exact name and their menu has changed since we were there last month after looking at their website). Highly recommend the salads for some extra veggies. They were great portion sizes and nicely seasoned! For mains we got one of the specials that night and the diver scallops. Both were amazing. However, the strawberry ice cream cake we got for dessert was really lackluster and the sponge was super dry. They were not able to make espresso martinis when we ordered dessert, so that was a bummer as well. All in all, other than dessert, we had a great time and would definitely return. read more

I've been to Bluebeard several times now and the food has never disappointed. My go-to's are the oysters and smashed potatoes to start. I usually go for dinner but this time I visited for lunch so the menu was slightly different. I ordered the vodka rigatoni and it was delicious, and the pasta tasted light and fresh. If I ordered a drink, it's always a mocktail so I appreciate that Bluebeard has zero proof cocktails and other non-alcoholic drinks like homemade sodas + ginger beer on their menu. I always order the Statler mocktail and it's so refreshing! (It's the drink that's nearly empty in my photo) The desserts are always so good too so I make sure to save room when I come here. Shoutout to J'Adore! The only thing about this lunch experience was that the service was much slower than usual so it was a good thing we weren't in a rush this day. read more

The two entrees were a miss. The pork chop was too funky with the cheese and just was not enjoyable. The pasta was also just odd and not that good. The grilled bread was nice with the 3 different butters. The blackberry one stood out. Came back to Bluebeard when my boyfriend and I saw they had honeynut agnolotti pasta on the menu and decided we had to try. We started with the Bluebeard's take on an Irish coffee and a new-to-me cocktail called the Forever Fall which had tequila, St. George spiced pear, dry curaçao, and pear soda. The Irish coffee was a little bitter, but I would take a Forever Fall any day. I opted for the chicken noodle soup which was packed with handmade red pepper noodles alongside chicken thigh, diced turnip, celery, and carrot. I also got some crispy smashed potatoes which were beautifully seasoned and plated on top of a creamy, robust Romesco sauce--a true 10/10. For the honeynut agnolotti, the coffee pasta was gently stuffed with a beautiful brown butter honeynut filling and topped with a sage and sherry maple butter sauce. Every bite was phenomenal, but for $33 it was about 10 bites. We had a similar experience when we ordered a gnocchi previously. My boyfriend ate several of my smashed potatoes and is not a huge eater, but it still wasn't particularly filling. While the flavors are phenomenal, it's a little hard to stomach paying over $30 and then needing to eat a second dinner later. read more

Made a reservation which was confirmed. Got there, and waited a full 15 minutes at the hostess stand, while various busy and not busy staff walked by and either ignored us completely or said someone will be with you in passing. No greetings, no apologies. never even got our name to see whether we had a reservation. We are mellow customers, but this was so unfriendly and discourteous we left and won't be back. Jesus take the wheel. I can't even begin to describe the made with all the love and sauce from another plane deliciousness. Obvi we had to have a green to balance it all out! I don't think there could have been a better place to spend a beautiful, warm night out than on Bluebeard's patio. I came around 5:30 as a solo diner and was seated right away outside, although I saw it really filled up as the evening continued (restaurant does not take reservations). I was seated at the end of a long communal table outside; there are also more traditional tables for parties of two or four outside. I was visiting from out of town and was really impressed with everything I ordered. The cocktail menu is extensive, it was hard to pick just two! The Naive Melody had a lighter and fruitier profile that I enjoyed; I also tried the Endless Summer, which is definitely sweeter but was nice paired with dessert. I started with the bread service, which was a great start to the meal- the bread was fresh and I was pleasantly surprised at the portion size. All three of the butters/spreads were SO good. The anchovy butter was savory, the garlic confit was rich (and paired well with both butters), but I think the honey thyme butter was my favorite and packed the most flavor. I decided to try the casarecce as my main, which my server said was the only thing that never leaves the menu- and I can see why! It was really flavorful and had a nice level of spice that I wasn't expecting. The fluffy, fresh Parmesan on the top was the perfect finish and I appreciated that when I asked for more, they brought an entire small dish of it. There were four dessert options that all sounded equally good, I went with the orange financier cake. As a huge cake person, I absolutely loved this- the financier layers were rich and paired nicely with the sweet/tartness of the citrus curd and buttercream. I finished every bite. My server was Jacob and he truly made the evening so pleasant- he had excellent recommendations and described everything on the menu so well, but was also just extremely friendly and nice. Recommended by a local (friend), this was the best dinner I've had in a long time. I'll give bonus points for the friendly staff, quick service, patio (dog friendly!), and incredible menu. I wish I had more room to try more! Everything from the watermelon salad, to the Brussels sprouts, chop salad, and rum drink (I can't remember what it was called!) was so unique I am still thinking about it over a month ago. My suggestion is to go with a group of 3-6 people who you can share everything on the menu with. Or at least that's what I wish I could do next time I'm in town. Well done! read more
