If you are craving a good bagel, you should go and check out blue sky bagels! I was having a get together with friends in the morning and I got a dozen bagels. Felt like I needed a little more to start the morning so we got a couple of breakfast sandwiches, which gave me the fuel I needed to start the day. They did a surprisingly great job on the latte and mocha as well. The staff was so nice and made my latte just how I like it. All of my friends were very happy with the bagel options. I definitely recommend getting the honey walnut cream cheese and trying it out. I've been having it every day since because it's so delicious. Plenty of places to sit down and eat as well or can grab and go if you need to. I will definitely think the blue sky the next time I need a good morning treat for a group of people. read more

Everything was really good except two things. One, I ordered a toasted bagel with extra butter. It dripped all inside everything inside the bag and my car when I pulled it out. It had a great amount of butter, but needed double wrappers. Second, I ordered two containers of SALMON CREAM CHEESE (Lox). They were placed at the bottom of the bag and stayed cold. When I got home I unpacked and found they were PLAIN. These were for my wife and I went out of my way to Blue Sky for the Salmon cream cheese. I got an email with the receipt and it showed plain. Whenever we are here in Boise, Blue Sky is always a must stop! We discovered this place a few years ago when we came to visit family who had recently moved here. We were staying at an Airbnb nearby and stopped to pick up bagels one morning. I was back in Boise recently and told the family that I was bringing breakfast! Stopped at the Meridian location and ordered the bakers dozen along with four different flavored cream cheeses. I love their personalized service but was sad that by the time I came all the sesame bagels were gone! No worries because it really doesn't matter which ones you get, they all are perfectly made and cooked and offer you that great tug when you bite into the bagel. Their cream cheeses are fresh and flavorful and I had gotten the bacon/scallion this time around and there was nothing left! Everyone who had it loved it! I also ordered a cold brew coffee, without ice...which did throw everyone for a loop at first but I had ice out in the car so just needed the coffee! First time and only time I went in I ordered a breakfast sandwich with a plain bagel. Employee tried to force me into an "everything bagel" which I did not want because it had several ingredents that would have upset my very tender tummy. I had to threaten to not pay for said bagel, was ignored. Forunately Manager heard the conversation and asked if everything was ok. Employee said "nope just fine here!" To which I had to correct the record and explain to Manager. Had to explain that I had a very long day planed and that I, the driver/owner of the vehicle I was going to be in and the TWO other passengers would all be very appreciative if I wasn't constantly vomiting and having diarrhea in a confined space on a long daytrip to the Sun Valley area. Manager told Employee to go into the back, Employee refused, Manager had to state "that's an order, not a request." Finally got bagel made correctly. Never got anything for my trouble, just an insincere apology from Manager for Employee's poor behaviour. There's an old saying that goes "you never get a second chance to make a good first impression." Exceptionally poor first impression was made. Haven't been back since. Probablly won't be. read more

I have to start this review off by saying that I am originally from New Jersey and can be quite the bagel snob. New Jersey and the New York City area of New York (there's a huge difference between the New York City area and the rest of New York) has some of the best bagels (not to mention pizza, delis, hot dogs and Italian food) so my standards are kind of high. So with my review of Blue Sky Bagels, I will try to take into account that to paraphrase Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz," we aren't in New Jersey (as opposed to Dorothy not being in Kansas). I will say that the exterior is attractive and inviting. Walking in, I found it similarly inviting and a pleasant place to grab a bagel and cream cheese. Service was relatively friendly and the pricing was fair. I opted for the everything bagel with the jalapeno cream cheese. I found the bagel to be ok, nothing spectacular, but nothing despicable and terrible. Again, I understand it is not New York and/or New Jersey, but I was hoping for more. Also, they were rather light on the cream cheese. In New Jersey and New York, a bagel with a schmear of cream cheese usually equals the bagel with an inch or more of the cream cheese, here they put way too little on. Again, I understand I am not in New Jersey or New York, but I just expected a bit more. Food has crossed state lines and you should get at least a decent version if what was once a regional thing. I have found great sushi in Vegas, great Italian in Florida. I was even shocked finding good barbecue up in Jersey. I remember twenty years ago when I lived up there, we had a place that we thought was good, then I moved to the south and found out it was terrible. On my last trip home to Jersey, I found some wonderful places. Sadly, this place just did not rise above mediocrity. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything special. I give it three stars (), not terrible, just not exceptionally good. If you are dying for a bagel and are by here, well, it will probably satiate that craving, but will leave you feeling a bit sad afterwards, missing the greatness that a bagel and cream cheese can be. read more

Still not a hit for me. Line moved very slowly even though there were quite a few employees, who were pleasant and helpful. Glad for the parking! Still not a very diverse selection of bagels, smears, add-ons, and wish a breakfast sausage was available. Bagels are okay for Boise, I guess, but the bacon-scallion cream cheese had very little flavor and imperceptible amounts of bacon/scallions. Coffee was extremely weak and watered down and only regular milk provided, no cream, no skim, no milk-alternatives. The ordering system is worse than Starbuck's. I placed my large order with modifications at the first counter, where they wrote it all down. Great! Now on to the register where I had to repeat every word again. Listen, I haven't gotten my coffee yet, why are you making me do this again? I know they are trying to get everyone through quickly, but there needs to be a better system, perhaps the first person can type or have a copy for the register? Oh, a good bagel. Is there anything better? I love the bagels here. They're chewy and dense and delicious. They're freshly made throughout the day which is important for quality. They offer a large number of options of bagel types, so you can choose savory or sweet or plain depending on your mood. I'd you don't want just a bagel, they offer sandwiches. They have both breakfast sandwiches and lunch types. I love that they have a veggie sandwich. I normally just get a plain bagel, because I'm a Plain Jane in general. If I want something more substantial, though, I can get the veggie sandwich stacked with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, hummus, and mustard. Even if you're vegan you can get something substantial which is hard to do in these parts. They also offer soup and salad, and you get a discount for a bagel on the side if you'd like something to round out your meal. They also offer sodas and coffee. The cafe has plenty of seating and is generally pretty clean. I really appreciate that at the end of the day they bag up the previous day's bagels and you can get them for half price. You can purchase a big tub of their cream cheese to make yourself breakfast at home if you'd like. The servers often look pretty tired, honestly, but I don't blame them. I think they have trouble finding staff right now and I'm sure they're not paid well enough for their time. They are always polite and efficient and I encourage everyone to tip them for their service. Overall Blue Sky is a good place for lunch. Prices are a little high, but it's a quick place to stop by and offers a convenient and healthy option. read more

Sadly, the couple times I have come in here, the staff is always kind of stand offish. Today, they were being catty with each other and it was weirdly uncomfortable. By far the worst bagel I've ever had in my life. Do yourself a favor & go anywhere but here. Bagels from the grocery store bakery taste better than this, bagged bagels in the bread aisle at the grocery store taste better than this. Absolutely no flavor bagel or cream cheese. The cream cheese had this weird grainy texture. Not to mention, there was only cream cheese on ONE SIDE of my bagel, I know this because I asked for a slice of tomato. There was no cream cheese on the bagel that was on top of the tomato. I asked for the bagel to be double toasted for flavor because from the counter they looked stale & flavorless (it wasn't double toasted I watched them only toast it once). Gosh I'm so annoyed I wasted $4 on this. If you want to go to an all around phenomenal bagel shop visit Freedom Bagel in Meridian or Good Times Bagels in Boise. Who doesn't appreciate a tasty bagel shop? This one is by far the best in Boise! The bagels are always fresh, and the cream cheese selection is full of variety. I LOVE the sun dried tomato! If you go on the weekend, you will most likely have to wait a bit in the line, but the staff really moves through it quickly, and is friendly while ensuring the speed! I've ordered them via DoorDash also, and the freshness and quality is consistent. I recently had guests stay with me from out of town, and pre-purchased a dozen bagels and a few containers of cream cheese a few days before their arrival.
