I stopped by Blue Sky Bagels on a recent Friday morning with my husband... We stood in line at the register for awhile before being acknowledged and then figured out on our own that we needed to go to the other side of the counter to place our order. Once we made our way there, we waited a bit longer and then ordered a bagel toasted with salmon cream cheese -- and then back to the original line we were in to order an iced coffee with oat milk. Service was okay... not the friendliest (as others have said, perhaps a bit overwhelmed or shorthanded?) and the bagel and coffee were also just okay. I was hoping for better, but this place has potential and perhaps we were there on just an off morning. I would return if in the area and seeking a bagel, but probably would not go out of my way. read more

This was just ok went here today in a pinch and ordered a ham, egg and cheese everything bagel. Bagel was very fresh but felt the other ingredients were kind flavorless. Ham was like lunch meat and eggs weren't very hot. Service also was a little clunky and when I asked for a cup of soup the young lady acted totally overwhelmed. Paid for our order with no thank you or have a nice day. Inside was pretty clean but the restroom for sure needed some attention. Called ahead to get bagels to-go 10 minutes before leaving the house. When arriving I stood right in front of the register to tell them I had an order to pick and pay. When I say nobody acknowledged me for 5 mins AND they let 3 other customers pay in front of me....... Very rude, unprofessional, and just out right wrong. It was busy, I was patient, waiting AND smiling... waiting for someone to ask what I needed. Then when I spoke up about picking up an order they smiled/acted nice when the tipping screen came across my face. Excellent service and just what I wanted in the morning. A toasted cinnamon and sugar bagel with a smear of walnut and honey cream cheese.

First off I have to get the most important thing out of the way: the bagels? 5 out of 5. The staff are sometimes shorthanded, but do their best. They often forget the pickle slice with your order so make sure you double check for that. I've never had anyone be impolite with me despite things like that. I also occasionally get a sandwich and I have to say they are quite good and they can prepare them almost any way you like. They always have plenty of cream cheese on hand, too. So why am I giving this location 3 stars? It's the cleanliness. Especially the flies. There are so many flies buzzing around the food in this place. I understand that it's hard to get rid of them, but the bagels are out in the open all day and there's no doubt the flies are getting their grubby hands all over them before you put one in your mouth. I don't like to think about it, but the last time I visited it was worse than ever and it honestly is grossing me out to the point where I'm considering not returning until they figure out a way to deal with it. Once there's a few orders to make, the people behind the counter ignore customers completely. I left after not even being acknowledged after 7-10 minutes in front of the "order here" counter with the dude making bagels less than 6 feet away. If it's busy just tell me it'll be a few minutes and you apologize that you're slammed. It's inappropriate to ignore customers. That's how you lose business. Wouldn't know about the food , never got a chance to even order. Might be decent if you manage to come in and get your order taken. Sit down area looked alright . Goldsteins always greets you and makes you feel like someone will get to you soon if they are busy and they pump out 3x the orders. Disrespectful to do otherwise. Will not be returning . read more

Went there today for a bagel. There myst have been 20 flies flying all over inside. Our order was to go and when we finally open it up down the road, it was missing the bacon we requested. I'll have to say, most orders these days are not correct or missing items. We won't be back. I would think the restaurant business is highly competitive and some will sink because they don't pay attention to details. read more

Have to drop a star for the container of Sundried Tomato cream cheese that was covered in mold when I opened it two days after I bought it. It came straight home and went into the fridge on Saturday. Five star for the quality of the bagels. One star for everything else. They don't have updated hours or prices online. They don't respond to the email address listed on website. They are open until 3pm. They are always busy and rushing the preparation of sandwiches. They forgot to include the pickle on every single sandwich I ordered. I had no idea they had a punch card until the second time I ordered sandwiches. When I told the staff that they didn't care. They can certainly look up the previous order to see all the sandwiches I ordered and add them to the second order so that I can redeem a free sandwich. I questioned why the prices on the ticket were different than online but days later no one has replied to email. In short, if you are desperate for a good bagel go here knowing that their customer service is terrible and possibly overcharge you. read more

Blue Sky makes me feel nostalgic. We used to walk to the downtown location a lot as poor college students and it always filled and warmed us up! My favorite is definitely the Asiago Cheese with veggie cream cheese! But I think I have had every bagel they have to offer (except maybe plain...what's the point?) and most of the cream cheeses (Or "bagel frosting" as my 4 year old likes to call it). Each one is really perfect. The bagels are delicious with excellent texture. A shiny, firm exterior with a squishy center. They are made fresh every day and it's easy to tell. Some of the local grocery stores carry their cream cheese to buy and that's always a treat! They also have great sandwiches. Lots of yummy lunch meats and options, like chicken salad or tuna. All the extra veggies are free (I feel quite offended when someone charges me $0.50 for lettuce). Insider trick: skip the slice of cheese and mayo and have them spread cream cheese inside. Oh yea! They do have soup, but I am really not a fan. I should ask the next time I go in....but I'm fairly certain that the soup is not homemade. It tastes canned to me. But this isn't a soup place, so I'm not really holding that against them. I would love to see Blue Sky get a little crazy and start featuring a unique bagel of the month or something. Something creative and zesty and unique. Their bagels are delicious but predictable. I would definitely go out of my way to try something fun and new. read more

If you haven't tried this bagel shop you are missing out! Everything is made in house and you can taste it! I got their bagel and soup and it was phenomenal! The honey Walmart spread had chunks of Walmart! And their asiago cheese bagel was fantastic! When you first go in it's a little confusing as to where you order because the cash register is near the entrance. But the staff is super nice and they quickly pointed us in the right direction. Great way to end 2014 on New Year's Eve morn with bagels at Blue Sky based on the recommendation of friend Carl Y who has provided my hubby and me with tip-top-tips on local gems since we moved to Eagle in mid 2014. Maybe not Brooklyn bagels but pretty darned close says my hubby native of that NYC borough. Blue Sky boils the bagels before baking, just as should be, lending chewy texture and bakes them on cornmeal dusted pan adding that "just right" element to the bottom. We are new fans. EATS Friendly people behind the counter serving up bagels of many kinds. There were people in and out on New Year's Eve day buying bags of bagels to go (94 cents each or less if buying a half dozen or more) or eating in bagels with a schmear (about a buck and a half) of many different kinds of cream cheese. Several people were also enjoying what looked like generously sized bagel sandwiches, deli and breakfast styled both For future reference I noted they have egg salad on the menu and also tuna salad. There are not many places I trust to eat their tuna salad but this is on that list! Next time. This time I can attest that the jalapeno cream cheese was really good on a sunflower seed bagel and so was the honey walnut cream cheese a winner on the cranberry orange bagel. VALUE Fair prices it seemed on all menu board items. Two bagels with cream cheese and two cups of coffee clocked in at only about seven bucks, including tax. Great value. VIIBE It smells wonderful when you enter this bright, light space with lots of room in aisles and between tables. High seating and standard height table seating. THE DRILL Line up at the counter to place your order. One of the friendly staff will bring it to you when it is ready. Get your own beverages (Dawson Taylor coffee is from a pump pot) and bus your own table when finished. THIS N THAT: 1) PARKING: In the Millstone Market stip mall lot. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in and throughout. Plenty of aisle space. Standard height seating throughout. 3) DAY OLD BARGAINS: In the back of the shop is a basket with bags of day old bagels priced at five bagels for only two bucks. Each bag holds one variety but there were several varieties in the basket. Day old bagels make great strata, bread puddings, crutons and sliced up toasted as alternatives to regular crostini for snacks. So I've only been there once but my first experience was pretty solid. I'm in from out of town and frankly their bagels weren't five star but the service was so overwhelmingly friendly that I had to give them a six for service and a four for the bagels. They offered options and they were helpful and answered a couple of silly questions of mine and overall seems pretty happy to help out. They're doing their best to enforce social distancing requirements even changing the entrances so that you enter one side and leave the other. I absolutely appreciate that! There was a customer in front of me who didn't have a mask and you would think they would request a little more forcefully that people wear masks because it's not the non-mask compliance people that are at risk Dash it's everyone else. The staff had their masks on and seem to respect the requirements. Good job people. There were a Decent number of bagel and spread options so that we could choose more or less what we were looking for and they seemed more than happy to build them as we like. I am not a huge bagel person, but this place really does go above and beyond what a "normal" bagel is. we had some brought into my work from a client and I wanted to eat the whole bag! I only had 1, but maybe i'll try more later LOL! I had the everything with the garden cream cheese- which had chunks of bell pepper and shredded carrot mixed with plain cream cheese- it was so yummy! I wanted the entire container. we also got quite a few other flavors of cream cheese- honey walnut, berry berry, and plain. the bagel itself was chewy and crispy and fresh. the texture was absolutely perfect. and the size of it was very generous. I am stuffed after just one. I can't wait to try this place again! read more

I have visited this establishment quite few times in the past and I always and only have ordered the Salmon Filet (Locks & Cream Cheese) sandwich, so I cannot comment on anything else on the menu. The first time that I visited, I got my order to go and when I got in the car and opened up the paper to reveal my sandwich, the bagel was sort of bland, and not toasted at all even though I requested it to be toasted, so each time after, I would request the bagel to be extra toasted, but for some reason, it was never even remotely toasted. Strange. "Maybe it's a busted toaster or something", I thought to myself. Each time that I have ordered from the downtown Boise location, the sandwich was nice (besides the toasting ordeal). Today, I found my stomach growling and decided to order from them again, but I ordered through Door Dash instead of visiting any of the locations. Same thing happened. I requested the bagel toasted and it arrived without a hint of toasting, white as a ghost, yet soft and obviously fresh. Having said that, on it was spread THE thinnest layer of cream cheese I ever did see, one very small slice of smoked salmon, (not enough for the price at $8.99) and two slices of tomato, very little lettuce, and a decent amount of very, very thinly sliced cucumber (my special request). I was a little disappointed to say the least. Bummer, because it's one of my favorite sandwiches and no many places serve it. Hopefully, if I communicate my request the next time I will have better luck. I will always try again! read more

This was our 2nd visit. Our first visit at least 6 months ago and we left disappointed. The bagel had no flavor and they didn't have sausage which is what we usually like on a bagel. We decided to come back again because people keep saying it's so good. Well... we will not be back! Husband and I got a simple bagel with cream cheese. And then we asked for an egg for our daughter. They charged us $2.17 for a freaking egg! Our bagels with cream cheese were $2.22 each. So I asked the one who rang us up and the manager why I paid $2.17 for an egg and they said because we added an egg to our order so they make one of the bagels an egg sandwich. Ok I don't care how you ring it up but $2.17 just to add an egg is absolutely ridiculous. Our bagels were ok. I got the onion bagel and it had zero flavor. My husband got an everything bagel and said it was ok. And my dad got a parmesan bagel with jalapeño cream cheese; he said it was good because the jalapeño added some flavor to it. All the bagels needed to be toasted longer. Our $2.17 egg was flavorless, thin and gross. Our 16 month old loves eggs and wouldn't even eat it. I'm not sure why everyone raves about this place but it has NOTHING on Einsteins which I wish there was more of then around here. read more

Went to blue sky bagels this morning super hungover and super excited and the line was out the door, this lead to me believe the bagels were going to be stellar, I was wrong. I was so hungry I ordered two bagels and both of them sucked ass. First of all I ordered avocado on my bagel and they put packet guacamole on it. On my second bagel I got veggie cream cheese sounds pretty easy right? Wrong. They fucked that shit up too. Their cream cheese tasted like watered down yogurt with no flavor at all and literal chopped up carrots were in it. Never have I ever seen veggie cream cheese like that. When my husband and I are looking for a fast and easy (and delicious) breakfast or lunch, Blue Sky is our spot. We have NEVER had a bad experience and the quality and service is top notch. They often have seasonal cream cheeses which is a nice way to switch it up! Food: I love how they have TONS of different bagels, toppings (cream cheese, meats, veggies, nut butters, etc), soups, salads, parfaits, and even treats! They make sure to serve up anything for a picky eater. My husband's favorite is the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a Parmesan bagel. I love the cinnamon & sugar bagel with honey walnut cream cheese. YUM. Their soups are also very good! Drinks: They have self-serve soda fountain but also make coffee & espresso drinks. I love that! Atmosphere: It smells SO GOOD in there! It's your typical bagel shop with a lunch-line style for ordering and simple tables to sit at. Sometimes the tables and floors are a little dirty, but they're so busy that they just don't have a chance to clean them off between each customer. Service: Very friendly and helpful. The staff seemed distracted, the bagels were not toasted, and items from the order were missing. When talking to the staff they told us we were wrong and didn't seem helpful to rectify the problem. My wife and I hadn't been here in a long time, and we just wanted a quick bagel breakfast this morning, so Blue Sky was the destination. I usually stick to my same everything-bagel-with-cream-cheese most of the time, but their cranberry orange bagel caught mu eye so I tried that. There are a few others I will try next time, too.
