I had a hard time believing that I was drinking locally made rye, but there I was: nice seat at the bar, the joint hopping, having a version of a Manhattan and smoked old fashioned with my favorite spirit. There's no food, save for some bagged pretzels and such, so feel free to bring something from one of the surrounding spots (we brought salami and cheese from Bagliani's. Tonight was my first time at Blue Rascal Distillery. We've been meaning to try it out now for a while but haven't had the opportunity. We were heading into hammonton tonight for dinner and on a whim decided to stop for a drink first and we're very happy we did. We stopped at the front window (which also had some barstools on the inside and outside of the building) because there was a menu on the counter. We were promptly greeted by an incredibly friendly employee who was eager to explain the menu and all of their spirits. We had lots of questions as this was only our 2nd time at a distillery and he was able to answer everything confidently and with a smile. We made our way inside the restaurant and ended up sitting at the window on the barstools since it was such a beautiful night. My mom had asked about fruity rum drinks and he had the bartender make up something for us to try that wasn't on the menu. She had also ordered a Cosmo and I ordered a grapefruit and jalapeño martini with vodka. The rum drink came out first which my mom and I split. The martinis followed not long after. I thought the drinks (especially the martinis) looked beautiful and they all tasted great. We are planning on coming back to try the coffee whiskey and blueberry brandy along with some other drinks listed on the menu. After we were finished the server showed us the outside area they have in the back. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures but there is lots of room and seating with corn hole. It is amazing how one extremely rude waitstaff can ruin an evening. We have gone to Blue Rascal numerous times and enjoyed it each time. The drinks are always good. We made advance reservations to a group of 8 (6) adults and (2) kids to celebrate a birthday starting at 5PM. Brought in some food and a cake and were having a great time. About an hour in we found out it was also trivia night, and we also signed up for that. Around 6:20 a young guy walks over and informed us that our table was only 90 minutes, and we had to pack up and leave in the next 10 minutes. We said we were never told that when we reserved the table and no one said a thing when we checked in. Told us it was on the sign at the front door which when we checked was actually turned into the bar area so that you could not see it when you walked in. Now we had just ordered another round of drinks and my tab at this point was $160 so we were not going cheap. I was not happy with the way we were informed of the issue and there was no apology like sorry for the misunderstanding etc. His only comment was well next time maybe you should reserve the table for double the time. All of us were stunned by his overall attitude especially when a minute late he drops a little clipboard in front of me - doesn't hand it to me - actually just drops it in front of me and said you paying by cash or card. At that point I asked to speak to the manager, and he claimed he was it. My wife could tell I was really ready to get into it with him but asked me not to because my grandkids were there. We started to pack up and the waitress who took care of us who was really great actually apologized to us for how rude he was. The guy at the table that backed up to us told me he hopes that "the jerk" approaches us like that because he will have no problem telling him off. Sorry, this is so long but it is unlikely we would again visit what was our go-to place in Hammonton. There are just too many places that actually know how to treat customers. read more

I'm more of a beer drinker but I do enjoy a nice whiskey and whiskey cocktail every once in awhile. The place itself is nicely decorated and has a better vibe than what I would call "industrial sites" that I've visited. However, beyond that I can't say that I loved their products. It seems most of the focus is on their sweeter options, which I'm not a fan of. I've tried their whiskies and again I can't say that I'm a fan. Some of their cocktails at their location are pretty good and their staff is very nice. But in the long run, it's not a place enjoy. read more

I fantastic variety of spirits and liqueurs. I recommend trying a flight. One of my favorites was the honey rum. I'm not a big honey fan but this was perfectly balanced without a honey forward taste. I ordered a honey rum old fashion to really bring out the flavors. Excellent choice. The staff is super friendly and will help you find the right drink to your liking. I also recommend the gin and aged gin. Again, not normally a gin drinker but this gin could turn me. The flavors added to the gin make it so flavorful that you could drink this on its own. Great little distillery in downtown Hammonton. We tried a spirit tasting of the wheat whiskey, the rye whiskey, the blueberry brandy, and the gin. All were very good! We ordered two cocktails, and the bartender, Tommy, was very nice and made excellent drinks. There is a backyard with cornhole and picnic tables and some Adirondack chairs. On a cooler day it would be very nice, but it was too hot to sit outside in the sun. The property is very clean and has a great ambience. One recommendation: Tell your story on your labels and menus! Wanted to order a drink at the bar since I was late arriving and my party all had drinks. I was told I could not order at the bar and to go back to my table and someone would be right over. If I could give this place a zero I would. My husband and I decided to try this place after driving over 45 minutes to Hammonton to have dinner at The Maplewood and try a drink here. When we walked in we were quickly asked if we had reservations, which we did not, we were simply wanting to have a single drink and support a new distillery. We have done so with zero problems at other distilleries. There were empty tables all over with reserved signs because it is "trivia night", even the bar seating was reserved. So we asked if we could sit at these tiny stools on basically a window sill just to have one drink since we travelled to the area, hostess says sure. Then a lady who we thought was the server came over and basically threw us out because any minute there would be more people there and our party of 2 people who were just looking to have a single drink was going to put them over capacity. Their IG says reservations recommended, walk ins accommodated, certainly not so! Would never go back and would never recommend. read more
