Kim is also a certified personal fitness trainer and that really shows in her instruction. She takes the time to break down each move and explain the physics and offers lots of tips and encouragement to help you master them. You'll definitely feel comfortable taking a class from her no matter if you are 20 or 50. She brings many hoops to class each week for you to try out. You'll want to buy one the first night if you don't already have one! It's just THAT addictive. I often find myself shoulder hooping without a hoop. It's like when you step off a cruise ship and you can still feel the boat move for a week after you get home. The hoop becomes a part of you. Not a bad gig. ;)

While they updated the calendar for New Years Day to indicate being closed, they made no such updates for New Years Eve, indicating they were open until 7P AND that they had an all day special from 9-5 for shotgun shooting discounts. When I showed up at 4P for a standard indoor lane I was told they closed at 4. No notice to paying members, no updates to the calendar for NYE (31st). This is compounded by new, untrained staff with inconsistent policies: some indicating their new electronic waiver (signed when you join, and required for guests) had to be filled out each visit; others never even nothing to ask (knowing members had already signed). It's still a great place, and the staff are both friendly and helpful. It's still a good value. It's just starting that "we're not new anymore, how much less can we get away with and people will still pay for" phase. That's disappointing... but not unexpected.

Their handguns are at a premium cost due to the fact that they are of the highest quality and hand made. It really reflects on it when you use them. They are First Responder friendly and made in America. I can't say enough of how great their weapons are and the quality that they promote. After class they are always happy, encouraged and excited about coming back. We continue to choose Arts Avenue because we know the teachers genuinely care about our girls and provide a loving and encouraging environment for them to learn and grow in dance. This year we have classes with Ms. Kate and Ms. Alex. Ms. Kate is highly qualified with a B.F.A. degree in dance and choreography with many years of professional experience in those areas. She is always kind and patient, but encourages setting goals and challenging her students to grow in their skills. Besides directing the company team (which has been winning lots of competition awards), Kate has choreographed beautiful ballets for the Arts Avenue team performances the past two years. Ms. Alex is currently pursing a degree at Southwestern University with a minor in dance where she is also the Pom Squad Captain. Ms. Alex loves many genres of dance from ballet to hip hop and makes her classes really fun. She is always kind and fun but is also very organized with lesson plans and goals to encourage her students to grow in skills. This year she even organized a fun Pom Camp for the kids with Southwestern University and they were able to perform for the university basketball game. Those details--rehearsal schedules, dates, and location--were never communicated. When we asked for clarification, we were told the studio was still working through the details, which is unacceptable given that families had already paid. To make matters worse, the studio attempted to attribute the confusion to my child rather than taking accountability for their lack of communication. It also became clear that the studio prioritizes its competition team, while other students receive significantly less organization and preparation--despite paying for recital participation and costumes. We expected a much higher level of professionalism and transparency.

It will definitely take a few lessons to get the technique under my belt (I am sure this varies by person). Emily owns the studio and teaches the lesson. There was about 10 people in my "intro to wheel throwing" class. Everything is provided in the class and it was about three hours long. Emily teaches you the techniques and you get to make as many as you can within the course period. I was able to make 4 imperfect "bowls." I suggest that you not wear anything nice because it will be messy. I got clay/mud in my shoes, on my legs, and my clothes--fortunately, it comes out fairly easily, just a warning! However, I think it was worth it. I found the process to be very therapeutic...and humbling. I plan to take more classes and hope to get better!

This would make it very difficult to reach someone immediately in case of an emergency. Our concerns about this were brushed off, and we mostly communicated with one of the students, who, to her credit, was always kind and willing to answer questions. I believe her name was Anais, or something similar. Nevertheless, we ultimately decided to pull our child out of the studio due to safety concerns and the repeated difficulty of reaching someone quickly by phone. Having a landline and a staff member stationed at the front near the doors at all times would have made a big difference. On several occasions, we walked in and no one even noticed, which caused my wife significant anxiety. It was unfortunate to leave the studio, as our child absolutely loved her ballet teacher.
