I really, really wanted to like this place for my daughters. I placed them in an after school…read moreprogram here, gymnastics and martial arts, plus paid for the additional time to have them complete their homework before I picked them up. The facility wasn't perfectly organized, which I expected after seeing the reviews posted here before, but I didn't let that dissuade me. I was disappointed to find out they did not offer transportation from my youngest daughter's school any longer, but a discount was given on some of her classes to make up for the fact that I had to drive her from school to KidSport. Less than two months into the programs, the martial arts teacher quit, and there was no replacement lined up. My older daughter was upset when she arrived and didn't know what to do or where to go, so was in tears. One of the staff, instead of offering her some support or comfort, told her to "Stop whining and being a baby." Unacceptable. The breaking point came last week when I got to the facility to drop my youngest daughter off after school, the day before Thanksgiving break. My older daughter tells me that she got left at school. The person responsible for picking up all of the students from the elementary school didn't see her right away, and just assumed we were on vacation despite not receiving a note/call/email from us as is outlined in their protocol, so LEFT WITHOUT HER. The school, knowing my 9 year old little girl was left behind, called them and she came back to get my daughter. No one from KidSport called me to let me know my child had been left, or that this mistake had been made. I only found out by accident. And when I brought it up, the woman who left her behind laughed, as if it was somehow funny. I hate having to post a negative review, but when it comes to the basic safety of a child, I cannot in good conscience let it go. I can't even think what might have happened to my little girl had a responsible teacher not been there to watch over her when the people we had paid to do so failed miserably.

I enrolled my 5 yr old in swim lessons and we were really disappointed…read more The teacher we had was REALLY inexperienced. She had zero teaching skills and had no idea how to keep the kids engaged or excited about learning to swim. At one lesson, an older more experienced teacher stepped in and took over as she saw the younger teacher was doing so poorly. The older teacher got my child to do more in 5 min than the younger teacher was able to do in the first 40 min of class. I asked to switch to the older teacher's class but unfortunately she was just there to help out in the next class (and didn't teach there regularly). We WASTED the $90 for the lessons that is for sure. My older kids had gone to a swim school in Leander but she isn't teaching anymore :( Do not waste your money or time here, find a place that has EXPERIENCED teachers.

Our experience with Arts Avenue was frustrating and unprofessional…read more We paid recital and costume fees months in advance, with the understanding that key details would be provided later in the season. Those details--rehearsal schedules, dates, and location--were never communicated. When we asked for clarification, we were told the studio was still working through the details, which is unacceptable given that families had already paid. To make matters worse, the studio attempted to attribute the confusion to my child rather than taking accountability for their lack of communication. It also became clear that the studio prioritizes its competition team, while other students receive significantly less organization and preparation--despite paying for recital participation and costumes. We expected a much higher level of professionalism and transparency.

I emailed at least five times with concerns and never got a response. The production itself was also really disappointing, and I felt it made my child hesitant to be involved in productions moving forward. They preformed scenes they NEVER rehearsed. What should have been a 50 min show was 1.5 hours, largely because the teacher was feeding them all their lines. My child has been in four different productions, some for much younger kids. This production was by far the least developed and "roughest" to get through. These concerns seem to be tied to larger business issues. Although I know some folks who have had god experience with the dance side of things, the theater program is underserved and it was incredibly frustrating.

The teachers there…read morewere kind, attentive, and consistent about updating daily events and activities, which we truly appreciated. Unfortunately, our experience in the toddler room was very different. The front entrance door that uses a key code did not always close and lock properly, and the toddler gate leading to the right hallway did not lock securely, which raised safety concerns. A lot of times at pick up that hallway also smelled like a trash bag of poop was stored somewhere. Many toys were kept on high shelves and out of reach, leading children to climb on the shelf in order to access them. During transitions and diaper changes, children were often left without activities, resulting in restlessness and pacing. Cleanup also fell almost entirely on the teachers, as children were not taught or encouraged to help put toys away, which appeared to limit the teachers' ability to support children who were struggling emotionally. Communication was also difficult. At pickup, teachers were understandably busy managing multiple children, but there was little insight into how my daughter's day had gone. Messages sent through the app often had delayed responses. There was also a required supply list that included items such as a water paint kit, colored pencils, a paint apron, and crayons, but these supplies were never used in the classroom. My 2.5-year-old thrives in a structured environment. In this classroom, much of the day was unstructured free play, and she struggled significantly. During her final full week, she spent most of each day sitting and crying. She appeared overwhelmed, isolated, and unable to engage. On three consecutive days, photos shared as "gym activities" showed children sitting against a wall watching the teacher, whereas earlier in her enrollment gym time involved active movement and play. That earlier structure had been far more appropriate for her needs. While the staff were kind, the lack of structure and engagement negatively affected my child's well-being and ultimately led us to seek a different environment. Although another classroom was offered, seeing her cry consistently on the camera and struggle at drop-off made it difficult to continue.

My kids attended this school for about 8 months…read more There are a few pros including: access to cameras, full Spanish immersion, multiple rooms around the school (library, gym, playground) to make it more like a real school. However, I think the cons may out weigh the benefits. Some of my complaints include: there didn't seem to be any sort of curriculum in the toddler classrooms and barely any toys or activities done. They just wandered aimlessly a lot of the time. I know this age is hard, but since moving her to a new school, I've noticed just how much INIC was lacking. A lot of the staff don't speak English at all which made it difficult to communicate at times to figure out what went on/any issues with kids during the day. A big thing for me was my kids were sick literally every single week by the weekend. They'd recover by Monday and be sick again by the next weekend. It was miserable. My kids have gone to many different schools and camps but they have never been as sick as when they attended here. All that said, I think it really makes a difference who the teacher is, because we loved the communication and kindness of our oldest's teacher. I think overall they just have a lot of growing to do to make curriculum more robust and the structure/rules, and maybe cleanliness comparable to other schools/daycares.

I had severe bleach damage from an all over bleach I did myself and tried to cover up with box dyes…read morebut the end result was always an orange. I cut off 6 inches and came here to fix it!!! Faith was an amazing stylist, she used a permanent color on my hair to match my dark roots and did a phenomenal job!! It's been around 4 months since she did it and the color still sticks perfectly!! She was also super sweet and very easy to talk to, we had many light and fun conversations throughout the process. Definitely will come back if I need another appointment!!

I have to unfortunately update my review to 2 stars because my recent experience turned out…read morehorrible and I will not be returning. I am not going to name the individual who worked on me to be respectful to her, but I will say the girl who colored and styled my hair needs a lot more training before she is ready to really work on hair. I left with hair dye all over my forehead, my sideburns were soaked with dye and behind my neck by that wasn't the worst of it. I didn't notice how much dye was left in my hair until I got to my car and started running my fingers through my hair. But I was wondering how the hair stylist working on me didn't notice the dye all over my face? Also, my curls, if you can call them that - turned out horrible with tons of frizz on the top of my head, I absolutely hated the way my hair turned out, total waste of money and time. I walked out spending $125 on a single color process, deep conditioning, styling and a hair product - way too much if you ask me for how things turned out. I understand these people are in training and I get that. The prior hair stylist who worked on my hair at this salon did a great job, but she graduated and suggested this newer gal. I trusted the process, but the process didn't turn out well at all. I will say the new gal who worked on me was kind. I am sure she was trying to do her best, but when dealing with someone's hair the basics like being removing all the dye out of someone's hair so it doesn't stick to their face and remain gooey in their hair is imperative - I needed to really wash my hair when I got home, also knowing how to do basic curls in someone's hair should be fundamental - the gal who worked in me had no idea how to curl hair at all. For those wondering why I didn't say anything during my visit, when I looked in the mirror and saw what a mess my hair was, I just wanted to get out and leave and just never come back, which I won't. Then when I went to the register to get rung up it took forever as I was standing their waiting because they were training another lady how to use the register. I believe I realized while I appreciate the lower price point on service at the salon academy, and understand most of the people working their are in training, it's simply not worth it to me to work with people in training who don't really know what they are doing yet, with the risk of messing up my hair and then walking out unhappy. I would rather pay a higher premium working with an experienced stylist knowing I am walking out feeling good with nice hair. I will not be returning to the salon Acedemy in Georgetown.
