The girl literally picked the bottle up that was right in front and took it around the corner (out of our view) and spent 5 minutes pouring God knows what. I grew up playing hockey in little rinks. Places like Downers Grove, Saint Spectrum, and this one, Addison Ice. They were never really big and fancy and that's what made them charming. The smell of sheet rubber and zamboni exhaust coupled with cold beer, stale whiskey and crushed out cigarettes would cling to the air and hug your nostrils, reminding you of early morning or late night practices. But that was from a far away time. It's not something you see very often unless you're out in the boonies at some rural rink. Long story short, that small rink experience is rare and seldom paired with a decent food & beer stop experience. I felt that nostalgia when I saw Blue Line come up on my discovery page in Addison. On the outside it looks like a single rink built for mites, but it's much more than that. It's in the Addison Ice facility, which, by the way, is clean and doesn't stink like hungover hockey parents or wet equipment left in a bag all night. It houses Blue Line Bar & Grill, a smallish bar reminiscent of old-time hockey that doubles as a family restaurant and caters to the hockey families that frequent the sheet. Its affordable menu and beer prices are intriguing, and when eager for a quick bite, I gave it a shot. IT SCORED!!! Top shelf and to the right where momma keeps the cookies! The food is great. I had the Pretzel Bites with beer cheese and the Hangover Burger with Onion Rings. Hot & delicious, all of it was good. The bites can be ordered sweet or savory, I had them salted. Perfection. Crispy exterior with a proper soft and chewy internal fluff. The beer cheese was warm to the touch, but didn't burn my mouth. The Hangover Burger was gourmet, a quarter pounder of beef sitting on a soft bun spread with a delicious mayo, draped with a bed of chopped lettuce and pickle, it had cheese melted on top and was crowned with savory grilled, seasoned onions. For the starter and main course it was an excellent experience and the attentive staff arriving with Pints of Labatt's and Malort on hand to wash it all down. We were the only Hispanics there. Racism? The bartender was kind of very rude when she served our food. basically she just threw it on the table and said here's your food. All it was chicken wings she gave us no plates to eat on and when we were complaining about the bill she would ignore us. We had 17 wings at 0.60 cents and 4 beers at 2.99 came out to $36 after questioning her about the price she could not come up with the right answer17 wings at $.60 and four beers at three dollars but then she sold me the beers for 425 so it's kind of confused, was racism or she wanted to take the tip out of our bill. This place can't be beat if you're watching a game or a practice happening at Addison Ice Arena which is attached. If you're a hockey fan, this is your spot! If you're a hockey parent, I'm sure you have grown to like this place a lot. If my girls dancing school had a place like this I could chill at while I wait for them, I would sign them up for a lot more classes! It's the perfect set up! You can get a nice view of the ice, but from a seat in this warm and cozy place. You don't have to sit on the bleachers in the cold arena! Grab a brew from one of the friendly bartenders. Shout out to Suzy, she's amazing! Chow down on some tasty, reasonably priced bar food. Play some slots, curl up by the fire, or take a glance at one of the televisions guaranteed to be airing a Hawks game. Very cool, down to earth little place, even if you don't know someone on the ice. Just a chill sports bar with friendly patrons. Wish we had one back home! There's really not much not to enjoyed here. I really loved the time I spent here and look forward to many more times to come! Oh, and look out for their events such as "Pack The Stands". It's a good choice for a quick bite after hockey or Zumba. I said good; I didn't say healthy. You can get salads and wraps, but where's the fun in that? This is your typical bar food: burgers, hot dogs, wings, pizza, wraps, fries, etc. I highly recommend the Macaroni Wedges, which are mac n cheese triangles that have been battered and deep fried. Soooooo yum! It's like the State Fair in my mouth. My friend and I have ordered grilled sandwiches. She had the grilled cheese and I had a ham melt. Mine was alright, but they didn't use cheddar on it. I'm not going to say it was wrong, but it's not what I am used to. I would go with the cheddar next time. The fries hit the spot. One time we came here and the cook wasn't there or he had left, so our choices were very limited. But if you aren't hungry you can always grab a cold beer and have front row seats to hockey practice. Love this place and due to our participation in Chicago Bruins Hockey, we are here 2 - 3 times a week. Food is great, drinks are greater, and the service is awesome. A very well - managed location, if you are in the area stop in and try a burger. The Tazer is our favorite. read more

For a hockey parent, this place is great. The food is really good and the environment is fun and friendly. Only drawback is the rink itself. Someone needs to care a little bit about the cleanliness and upkeep of the building, parking lot, landscaping, etc. read more

Amazing waitresses. Great food, I have tried the chicken fingers and fries and they were fantastic and priced well. Love the funnel fries. Pizza was great when we were with a group. Also they have good drink specials. I recommend no matter what you eat that you get the funnel fries for dessert, freshly fried and fantastic, not a large portion but good enough for a nice dessert for one person per serving. This may be the closest thing to "Cheers" in the area. Great drink special, salads and burgers. I would say food is good and better than average pub grub. Being a hockey family, this place has been a staple for hanging out during practices and watching home games. They don't have waitstaff, just bartenders, so if you want something you have to get up and order it yourself. Great bartenders who have almost become like family over the years. You pay for bad service and horrible customer service and satisfaction These folks are rude. Used them for a ice skating party and could not be more disappointed. With over 20 parents there, potential customers I might add, they could have had a lot of future business. Received many negative comments about the staff that served us. Ayo. Their brunch menu says biscuits and gravy are $4, INCLUDING toast and hash browns. I'm like, "What a steal!" I order it, only to be told after it arrives that nope, the menu lies, it's $4 just for the biscuits and gravy. Which, by the way, are just alright. Y'all should really change that.
