I came in, picked a stool without thinking too much about it, and settled in with a Newcastle. The room has that warm lounge feel--low lights, comfortable seating, bottles glowing behind the bar, and just enough quiet to let conversations happen naturally. Jen was behind the bar and did exactly what a great bartender should do. Attentive without hovering, friendly without forcing conversation, and she keeps the room moving with an easy confidence. You can tell she knows the rhythm of the place. Within a short time I had two completely different conversations with people sitting nearby--one about life and money, the other about a dice game played with six dice and house rules for ones and fours. That's the kind of bar environment that happens when a place feels comfortable and real. Sometimes the best bars aren't about being loud or flashy. They're about atmosphere, good service, and a space where people can just exist for a while. Jen helps create that here. Yeah, it's a shame that I am not allowed to put zero stars. Came in on Saturday evening, and I've been here plenty of times, even prior to the second half of this bar opening. It took me nearly half an hour to get an order in, not to say that the establishment wasn't busy, because it was...but not to busy enough, as the bartender was being a chatty Kathy with the entire bar.... not including our half obviously. Being in the serving industry for years myself, a friendly "I'll be right with you", would have put me at ease. I am opposed to just complaining though, afterall, they did get over a hundred dollars from my pocket, i stayed and tried to enjoy my time. The decor is great, very open, very easy to hear yourself talk, the live band gigs, the layout, the entire bar itself has GREAT potential. Just seems like everyone stopped caring. To the owners, hate me if you will, but seriously? One bartender on a Saturday night...in a town with 4 bars? 2 of which get busy as hell...yours being one of them. Get a bar back who can not just pick up a glass, but refill it when asked. I rarely post anything on this site, and you will be hearing from me in person, as I believe in your bar... i truly do. Best of luck But as for now... 1 star. read more

I've been a regular at Blue Horse Lounge for quite some time, and I've always enjoyed the atmosphere and service. However, my visit yesterday was extremely disappointing due to the behavior of two new staff members, Robin and Daniela. They were getting drunk with some guys from the barbershop while on the clock, which was highly unprofessional. They were free-pouring all the drinks without any measurement, and by the end of the night, they were visibly plastered. The bar was in complete disarray, and it took an unreasonable amount of time for them to take my and my sister's order. This was particularly frustrating because it was supposed to be ladies' night, which was the main reason we decided to go. Instead of providing the expected level of service, they seemed to be giving all their attention to the men at the bar. The whole experience was chaotic and disappointing. I hope the management addresses this issue promptly to ensure it doesn't happen again. The Blue Horse Lounge has always been a great place to unwind, but last night's experience was far from what I've come to expect. read more

Blue Horse Lounge is my favorite local spot. Their food (especially their pizza) is totally underrated! The food is always fresh and well-made. When I asked my kids where they want pizza and wings from, Blue Horse is always their go-to. The fact that they allow children and families until a certain time keeps us going on top of the fact that their bartenders serve above and beyond any bar/Lounge I have the opportunity to be a part of. They're like family. I recommend them 100%. They're always my go to and have been for over four years. read more

Located off Geer and Tuolomne, Jams @ 209 is a cute little sports bar that also serves an extensive menu including wings, burgers, pizza, and tacos. Every wall (and even right outside the establishment) is lined with TVs all playing different sports and music videos with a huge focus on 80's music (perfect for the Gen X-ers who seem to frequent here). Upon entering, we seated ourselves at a corner booth and a few minutes later did a nice lady provide us with menus. The SO had ran to the restroom and the nice lady asked me at the table if we wanted to order drinks. She upsold a rum and coke (the SO's favorite) not because she had asked the SO on his way to the restroom like I had thought, but because they have a happy hour special on them and a few other drinks. What a coincidence! The special was $5 for certain drinks between 2-7PM. The nice lady also tried upselling me to get a drink for myself. I feel like after saying no the first time, she shouldn't have pushed with an "are you sure?" two times after. We ended up ordering: Onion rings - great fry and crisp batter. One of the reasons I chose to come here. Mac and Smash burger with side salad - uses Kraft mac-n-cheese type noodles that were a little bland. But with everything put together (pepper jack, fried onion strings, and chipotle sauce), the burger was delicious. SO was impressed with the side salad lol It wasn't a basic garden-type, but more spinach, cucumber, cheese, croutons, etc. PB&J Protein Power burger with sidewinder fries - double patty made this reaaaal meaty. There was a subtle pb&j flavor which was nice, but wish it had more. Sidewinder fries were like the jojo's version of curly fries - thick and potato-y. All portions were big and I thought proportional to the price (esp in this economy). What soured our meal was when we received the bill. There were two line items for +$0.75 for cheddar cheese. I spoke with our nice lady server and she said that it was because we got cheese on our burgers... *question marks??* 1. The item description for both our burgers already include cheese 2. We didn't ask to sub any type of, or add more cheese 3. If we were going to be charged for cheese, we weren't prompted about it beforehand. We didn't get the charges taken off until after these 3 statements were made. I get it, $1.50 isn't much but it's the principle of sneaking in $1-2 for something we didn't ask for. It makes me think they do this often at the expense of patrons under the influence. Just a warning for future customers, double check your bill!!
