What stood out most to me was how seen and heard I felt throughout the project. Dawn took the time to really listen and understand what we were hoping to create and she delivered something more beautiful than we imagined. Her landscape design was so stunning that we're actually planning to frame it, it's truly a work of art! It was also so refreshing to work with a woman-owned business in this industry. I never once felt like I was being upsold or talked down to. She made every effort to work within our budget and I felt respected and included every step of the way. You can tell Dawn genuinely cares about both her clients and her team in the way because of the pride and care that show up in every detail of her work. The crew was friendly, professional, and tidy, and the communication from start to finish was excellent. They worked very efficiently and did a beautiful job bringing the design to life. Every question I had was answered promptly and thoughtfully and I always felt in the loop. I can't recommend Rooted Outdoor Living highly enough. They're a small local team doing incredible, honest, and artistic work. It's the kind of business I'm proud to support and tell everyone about!

We ended up framing the drawings she provided because they we so beautiful! Throughout the project we had a few changes and additions and Dawn was surprisingly accommodating. Her crew did a terrific job and were clean and professional in their work. Rooted Outdoor Living was not the cheapest option we explored, but their professionalism and quality of work made the cost absolutely worth it and I would argue represents a good value for what they provide. We are looking forward to enjoying our new outdoor space for many years.

My recent experience is an example of this, I have been a long time customer since Mr. Norris owned the business; I was planning on continuing to use the services of the new owners/Not Just Grass as usual for all my landscape needs. Last April 2024, after working out details in March, I had old shrubs removed from the front of our house and new and different types planted. However, the work supervisor (Tyler) did not come with the work crew to lay out the planting plan, he had given them a work diagram, so unfortunately some of the shrubs were planted too deep, spacing was wrong on one side, and no soil amendments added, etc. I had asked for dirt and mulch to be added, but no mulch was added around the new plantings (I had to do a couple of bags myself around each plant later to help keep the soil moist after watering). They also left deep ruts in the yard/grass with equipment while removing the old, large yews. I contacted Tyler about the ruts and he did have them come back to fix that, however a year later now and the area is still sunken and no grass in spots (I will have to do a proper repair myself again). Tyler did not come back to supervise that original rut repair work. Flash forward to Spring 2025 in March, I contacted Tyler again because 1 of the shrubs had died last Fall (it was planted too deep) and another also looked dead at the time (before leaves started coming out), I let him know this and asked about replacement plants since they were under the 2 year plant warranty that Mr. Norris always provided and currently, Not Just Grass still honors. I never got a response, it was basically crickets. I sent text, e-mail, I called and left a message. I called the office and spoke to Kris who relayed my concern/messages on, but still no communication/follow-up from Not Just Grass/Tyler. Finally, I had run out of patience and had enough of the poor quality of service and called the owner, Greg V. (spoke to Kris again because he was out) and I also sent an email to the plant nursery. I explained to Kris and in my email(s) the lack of communication on their part and that I just wanted a replacement plant for the dead one (that I expected the same variety, a certain size to match the ones that did survive, and for it to be healthy), and that I would come to the nursery to pick it up myself. I also explained that I would be taking my business elsewhere from now on because of the poor service and quality of work. The owner did respond once in an email trying to tell me that Tyler had reached out on May 9, 2025 (nope, I never received a text, phone call or email from him and give me a break - May 9th 2025, when I had been trying to communicate with him since March 2025!!). The owner offered to have them come plant the replacement plant or I could pick it up as I had told them that was my plan. I replied that I hadn't heard from Tyler and that I would come pick it up and what I expected the quality to be, etc. When I went to pick up the plant, I was basically given the cold shoulder by Tyler (landscape supervisor) and Mackenzie (the plant nursery manager), I did see them, but they ignored Kris when she asked Mackenzie if she wanted to talk to me, Kris was told they were busy as they whizzed past us. Tyler indicated to us that the plant was down at the end of the nursery building. Kris, their Admin. who is basically in the office the majority of the time taking care of phone calls and orders, was actually the person who helped me find the plant (it did have my name on it) and load it into my car for me. The soil in the container was very dry, but that also made it easier to lift, and helped us out. I watered it well when I got home. So, there's my recent experience with this company (Not Just Grass) still using the Spring Bluff Nursery name, but not providing the quality of service, plant knowledge, and dependability that the former owners provided to their old and new customers. Also, their prices have gone up! It's just sad and no way to treat loyal customers! I have found another landscape company, thankfully, who have already planted the replacement shrub, added soil amendments, fixed the other planting that was struggling, and nicely mulched the area the way it should have been done last year.

Scheduling was easy, they got right to work. When there were issues, Shawn was in touch immediately and the issues were resolved often before we even realized they existed. The patio and retaining wall are gorgeous! The steps out to the yard, and the stoop from the house are a HUGE improvement over what we had before, and all done for a very reasonable price, especially since we did shop around. Needless to say, we love our new backyard and hubby even says he now has room for more grills! We have no complaints; the workmanship, value, and communication were all outstanding.

We did have some "wants" on our list which included a natural gas firepit, natural gas line for grill, seating for ~6-8 people, and enough room for entertain with some food, drinks, and a nice place to relax. From the start to the finish, Grant and Power was completely different than the other companies. Other locations just met you outside, what you wanted, and how big. Then we got a quote. However, when I contacted Grant and Powers, they started out with an email with some essential information like their insurance, a pamphlet and other information to get us started. We talked about what we were looking and then waited for our appointment Our appointment was different. Instead of going outside and talking about size... Gene sat us down to talk to us. He wanted to know what we wanted, what we were looking for and what we wanted to spend. We told him about how we were going to use the space and what we wanted and gave him our budget. Afterwards we talked about modern trends and what designs are in/out, how we wanted to place everything. Then off he went with the rest of the team to start designing it after a small down payment. He asked about budget and we talked about how much it might cost, but of course, the final bill could vary depending on the design. A few weeks later, we had another appointment where he showed us the design and it was amazing. They really sat down and listened to what we wanted because it looked amazing. The budget was completely out of our range.. granted, we knew our budget was on the low side of things, but they were willing to work with us to make this affordable. Finally, our day arrived. We got a call the night before that they were arriving in the morning to get started. During the process, the team were good...i would give them a 4.5/5 for a few minor things. They did talk to us a few times but I wish we were updated better. They were good about protecting our lawn even though some areas did suffer. Luckily (For us and them), our backyard had nothing out there. It was just bare land with green-ish grass. From start to finish, they were done in a week. We waited an extra day for another group of guys to show up to set up the firepit and show us how to use it. They were in and out fairly quickly. In the end, we got a beautiful patio. One section to entertain/eat. The other area is for the firepit and grill. Due to the design, they both feel separate from each other. We did find some minor damages that the team did not let me know or Gene. But he is going out of his way to making it right and I appreciate it. Ive had some neighbors stop by to marvel at the patio. Overall, if I were to ever move away, I would go back to this company to design a beautiful space again. I would completely recommend this company if you are looking for the same.
