We needed a property clean-up after moving into our new home. The property borders woods on two sides and had been significantly overgrown. I contacted SAR for some work in the yard to create mulch rings around our maple trees. Jonathan responded quickly and we set up a time to meet. After meeting him and talking through what I wanted we agreed on a price and went from there. They added me into a already jam packed schedule and within 2 weeks I had all of the work completed. The results were beautiful and I couldn't be happier. Jonathan and his crew did an excellent job and everything was all cleaned up when they were done. Called for a quote and made an appt. for someone to come to my house. After a half hour past when Jonathan was supposed to be here, I sent him an e-mail asking if he was still coming. He calls a half hour later and said how busy he was and not acknowledging he received my message so I don't know if he did. He said he was in the neighborhood and could be there in 15 minutes. Did I still want him to come over? (What do you think?) I told him yes. He gets to my house and seems to be semi-bored with the whole thing. Then he tells me he will have a quote in two or three days. I never hear from him again. This is the sad state of business these days. If for whatever reason they don't want to do the project they won't get back to you; they just let you twist in the wind. I can take whatever reason you give for not wanting to do the job. On the day work started, his crew showed up on time, were very pleasant and finished the whole project in one day even in the extreme heat. I stumbled upon SAR on Yelp while conducting a search for landscaping contractors for my parents. Jonathan who was quick to respond to all emails and understanding of my situation. Jonathan always responded to emails same day unlike other contractors I was talking with. After a few back and forth emails and a few quotes I decided to go with Jonathan because he offered a competitive price and had great customer service. My dad is not an easy one to please as he has been maintaining his yard for the past 20 years. So asking him to give it up was somewhat difficult. There's always something about reviews. I reached out to them because I was looking to get some pea gravel delivered. Unfortunately they don't deliver but I'm taking time now to write a review because... I was so impressed with the respect and helpfulness. Usually you call and if you ask for something they are not interested in they just hang up and leaves you with a bad taste... right? I called to ask if they deliver pea gravel and whoever was on the phone, I'm guessing reading from the other reviews it's Jonathan responded with a no but when I asked do you have any recommendations he was clearly interested in helping me and suggesting places that I would even get it for cheaper. Then after even telling be directions and details, while seemed like he was in the middle of working because other guys were talking in the background, he ends with have a good weekend sir. Hey, I don't care who you are, but if you have someone who's going to interact with you like this... even to someone who is NOT using their services, then they are the ppl to go with. For three years whenever they would say they were going to do our mulch beds, it was minimally 3-4 weeks later than they told us. They didn't follow up, we had to keep asking when they were going to complete the job they had committed to. Last year they were drinking beer while working on the mulch beds and we were appalled. Drinking alcohol while working is never acceptable. They send bills sometimes three months later after the fact and do not keep track if they didn't mow due to rain or weather and bill for it anyway. We kept track and had to address that we were billed when they didn't mow and then they corrected it. When my wife sent them a text letting them know that that I had contracted a different service (due to the explanation above) the owner Jonathan replied "Not a problem. I wasn't interested. Best of luck" after we had paid them thousands of dollars over the years. Highly unprofessional. read more

I have used them for the first half of the year. While the experience started out fine and some projects were completed. I had to micro manage their ability to cut my grass consistently. They could never stick to a schedule and had to be called almost every week to cut the grass. No one has time to micro manage grass cutting. I am very busy with work and such. I don't need to be wasting my limited family time tracking these people down every week. I would never recommend using them for continued lawn care by any means. read more
