A young Selvin came to give me an estimate. I never received it. I called and a woman said she would look into it. I have not heard from them and it has been over three weeks. I was ghosted. I am surprised to read all these good reviews. Just to clear things up, Selvin had the wrong email address. The quote had been sent, but I didn't receive it. It was when the followup call by me did not provide any information that I questioned the service. This has been cleared up as an unfortunate misunderstanding. While I am still looking at the quote, I wanted just wanted to clarify what happened. read more

Selvin and his team performed a 3-4 week project at my home and were a pleasure to work with. They redesigned our front walkway entrance, created a sidewalk path near the garage, created a concrete bed behind the garage, created concrete patio for a new pergola, redid our entire lawn, and decorated with new plants and foliage. It was a complete transformation that ended up brilliantly. Throughout the process Selvin was transparent, helpful, and solution-driven to help us achieve the style and quality we sought, all while keeping our budget in mind. His attentiveness is fantastic; he absolutely cares about his clients and takes pride in the work. His team is an extension of his top qualities. This is a company that we'll continue to work with as we have complete trust in their ability to provide creative solutions and perform exceptional work. Additionally, we've contracted Selvin's company to maintain our lawn, and are planning another large project that build upon the wonderful work they've created. read more

We hired Selvin's Landscaping in 2020 to build a new paver patio, outdoor kitchen and paver front porch; they also re-landscaped our entire yard, front and back, including planting, new sod, lighting and drainage. We were referred to Selvin by a former client, who lauded his professional communication, commitment to quality and the talent of his team. Selvin was not the least expensive option we considered, but he charges a fair price and honors his word. Most importantly, he and his team did an exceptional job with our project. They delivered high-quality craftsmanship on every facet of the engagement. Selvin's landscape designer, Alann, was a joy to work with and listened intently to our vision for our new back yard. Watching his design come to life has been breathtaking. Selvin's foreman, Mauricio, consulted us on major decisions, communicated effectively and was courteous and friendly, as was the rest of his team. Rarely did a day of construction complete without a visit from Selvin himself (which is impressive given that our large project took multiple weeks to complete). We've hired several contractors since purchasing our home in Elmhurst, and our experience with Selvin and his team tops the list. I highly recommend him for landscaping and hardscaping. It's clear that he takes great pride in delivering quality outdoor work. read more

My wife and I have been very pleased with Selvin's Landscaping. We had them install a concrete patio/stamped concrete on the back of our house. They removed our old brick patio and rotted deck very quickly. His workers were efficient and did excellent work. The new patio is amazing... We are so glad that we used them to complete the work. We then had a crew come back and install some sod to make our patio look even better... And they did an excellent job! We will be using them in early October to put up our gazebo that we purchased from Costco... Looking forward to utilizing our patio this fall and then spring and summer next year. Their sales person Bill... Also did an excellent job... And came out and visited us three times before we pulled the trigger and signed the contract. read more

We've been using Selvin's group since we first moved to Elmhurst a few years ago - each and every time the work is great! Whether it's the new patio he put in for us, landscaping work, or last minute fence repair right before a birthday party, he's always on point and pretty much does it all. Highly recommend him for any work you might be considering! read more

In my last review I did not realized how Covid has effected everything. I am finding out how busy this industry is right now. Last year has affected everyone and everything. Selvin's Landscaping provided us with an exceptional service experience and delivered a masterpiece of an outdoor living area. Our project involved a complete redesign and build of landscaping and hardscape construction in our front and back yard: driveway, sidewalk, walkway, stairs, patio, outdoor kitchen and fireplace, retaining walls, pergolas, lighting, fence, plants and sod, as well as other seemingly unrelated tasks such as major tuckpointing of existing masonry, for example. Our project started with a very thorough consultation and a detailed budget. This was a refreshing change from our "consultations" with other well-known firms. Selvin addressed all questions and concerns in a promptly and friendly manner. He went through the entire permitting process with the City of Elmhurst (which is very rigorous), and all inspections passed without issues. The inspectors commented on the high quality of workmanship to us on more than one occasion. Selvin and Roger came up with amazing suggestions and solutions to make our project an absolute success. Selvin's team uncovered some issues caused by our homebuilder (water drainage from downspouts for example). Selvin brought them to our attention and promptly addressed. Selvin's team was professional, flexible and attentive to detail. They were very respectful, trustworthy and easy to work with. Selvin and his team made sure to provide us with an excellent customer experience and a beautiful, high-quality final product. They truly cared about us as their customers and made sure that we were completely satisfied. I could come up with numerous examples of Selvin's above and beyond customer service but one that stuck in my mind was when he stained about 10 samples of cedar wood in different shades of brown to make sure my vision for the fence and pergola became reality. We could not be happier with the finished product. We wholeheartedly recommend Selvin's Landscaping for their amazing, honest work and value. They built our dream outdoor living space and we will forever be grateful for all their work. We are Selvin's customers for life! read more

We had a landscape wall removed and a new one replaced in the front, side and back of our home. This group of hard working, dedicated employees worked hard for two days creating this wall to perfection. It was so pleasant to have young men so dedicated and interested in our satisfaction. They were polite, friendly and interested in pleasing their customer. We would highly recommend this company and are hiring them back to do additional work on our landscaping! An interesting comment is that we saw their work in the neighborhood and stopped to chat with the neighbor prior to hiring them and our experience was exactly the same! Thank you for caring about your customers and doing EXCELLENT work!! read more

Terrible customer service. Guess they don't want new customers so don't bother contacting them if you're new. Called for a quote and couldn't even get a response back from them. I followed back up and again nothing. All you have to do is tell someone you don't have the man power or aren't interested but not responding back just speaks volumes of how you run your business. Go elsewhere unless you like just sitting around not getting anywhere. read more

We used Selvin's Landscaping for new sod installation in our yard. I found them through Angie's List. I found them through Angie's List. They were great in the beginning. Easy to schedule and I was able to text with the owner back and forth with was very convenient. However, he never gave me a time and showed up at 6:45am to start laying sod. I feel that this is a crazy time to start a project on a Saturday. I have neighbors. So because the work was well done. I used them for a fall clean up. They showed up a day earlier than scheduled. I had just finished a night shift and was going to bed. He calls me and said we will be there in 30 minutes. you cleaned up the yard right. (I have 2 dogs). No I hadn't because they were due the next day! Very rude and dismissive. I won't be using them again. He acts like you work for him and not the other way around. It's called customer service. I DON'T WORK FOR YOU! YOU WORK FOR ME! read more
