Best sushi spot in Lafayette! Everything is super fresh and we love all the different rolls. Our favorite is the Diablo roll, although everything we've tried has been good. Staff is friendly and service is quick! I believe they are walk in only, but we've never had to wait too long for a table.

Small neighborhood place in a stripmall. Sushi was tasty and fresh. Portion size okay. Pricing is moderately high. Will try come back again to try a few more rolls. Friendly staff.

We tried the chirashi and it did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. It was the perfect lunch, thank you!

Not a bad option for sushi in Lafayette. This restaurant is run by the same people behind Sasa in Walnut Creek. This is one of your best options around Lafayette and we came on Friday at 5:30 and it was already busy. Service was friendly and the fish was decently fresh: can't expect stuff flown from Toyosu every day. Would come back again as a more casual option to Hanazen.

    Philly and Lafayette rolls

Had lunch here and things were semi-crowded (restaurant was about 60% full). Tables were clean and the ambiance was calm/quiet. Would be a great place for a casual sushi date. Service was excellent and attentive. My waitress was the only server working there, and she did a great job keeping my water glass full and making sure I was satisfied with my meal. The food was alright for the price. I ordered the Philly and Lafayette rolls. They came out promptly and as described in the menu. Even though each roll only came with 6 pieces, they were very thick (about 2x as thick as the ones you see in grocery stores). The bites are well-proportioned and tasty. I did spontaneously order some inari (not pictured unfortunately), and it was just okay. $5 for two pieces felt kind of like highway robbery, but for a place that has to pay Lafayette rent, I'm not going to condemn them for it.

Great place for sushi and Japanese appetizers. Full bar. Amazing outdoor seating perfect for an sunny afternoon. The wine selection is excellent as well. Service was friend and not rushed. The ducks swimming in the pond adds to the experience.

Ohana Roll was good - that sauce was amazing. Crab and tempura shrimp inside and hamachi and shiso leaf on top.

I was a little skeptical getting sushi here after seeing the ratings but I had a hankering for some after getting some Susie's Cakes so I decided to give it a go since it was close by. I came right when it opened and decided to sit outside. I opened the menu and immediately saw high prices for sushi- one roll was already $18.95. Yikes. The waitress offered some specials - one was the Ohana roll: shrimp tempura and crab inside and topped with hamachi and shiso leaf. Sounded yummy. It arrived and it looked pretty. Gotta admit - it was delicious. The components really went nicely together and that SAUCE on the side. It was a savory sweet unagi sauce that was addicting. It really added some nice umami flavors to the roll. I was tempted to get some salmon sashimi but 3 pieces was already $12.95. I opted for the bill, which was $21 with tax. The food is pretty good but not sure if it's worth the $$$. I have a really yummy place in WC I go to with rolls for $12.95. Maybe I'll be back if I get the same craving in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Maguro nigiri, Mita Spicy Roll, and Spider Roll (left to right).

Fresh sushi and some creative maki. A little pricey but delicious. Can be a long wait for take out if ordered after 6:30pm.

This is a little gem of a restaurant with a cute interior dining area with television for people watching the FIFA games, a good bar selection of you imbibe, and a delightful patio where you can sit under a covered awning. The place has a small parking lot along the side of the restaurant located in the back. If you're shopping at Whole Foods or Mount Diablo Foods, this restaurant is located down the street from them on a side street on Lafayette Circle. I spoke to the owner, they only use the best quality sushi: Atlantic King salmon, bluefin tuna, the shrimp is cooked here, white tuna is from Korea, the onso hamachi is from Hokkaido. The onagi is high end, and ordered from Thailand. There are two other Kiku Sushi & Vegetarian locations, one is located in north Berkeley, 1416 Gilman Street, Berkeley, CA, and one is located at 538 Valencia Street, San Francisco. The food is absolutely delicious, nicely presented, and the sashimi is cut into very thick slices. I ordered my favorite go-to dish, chirashi sushi, and a specially ordered eel handroll with rice and veggies. The matcha tempura ice cream was delicious, too. You must absolutely come and try out this place, they play relaxing, nice jazz music in the background, it was good for a very nice before-the-250th-anniversary of our country, the 4th of July! Check out this place, you surely won't be disappointed!

The specialty rolls are on the smaller side, but the rice to fish ratio was pretty decent. Not a bunch of rice. But still very filling. Delicious, and the best thing on our table. First visit for us at Toyosu, over on Locust in Walnut Creek right next to Matsu. The sushi menu runs deep, from straightforward nigiri up to omakase and A5 wagyu, and the quality was very good across everything we ordered. Long sake list too, plus beer and wine by the glass or bottle. Plan around the size of the room. Small place. If you want to sit down without waiting, be there when they open, otherwise expect around 30 minutes. Parking is paid street parking with a big garage nearby, so you won't circle for long. Service was the standout. Nothing was open inside when we arrived, so we took the covered patio out front, and they asked whether we'd want to move indoors if a table opened. We said yes and ordered. A spot freed up after our first round and they came straight over and moved us. Doing that on a full night, unprompted, is not nothing. Noise was better than I expected. The room fills up, but we talked normally the whole meal. Ask for the soy paper wrap. Not printed anywhere on the menu, but clearly an option, and a good change if you're tired of nori. Bring someone who's actually into sushi and order wide. We'd go back.

They had a grocery store across that has a parking lot but not sure if it was just for the grocery shoppers only. The crew was taking a break when I walked in but there wasn't any customers. I asked to use the restroom from my far drive and that would give them time to get ready for a customer to order. My favorite choice of sushi is the lion king roll so I got that and enjoyed a few bites while the person I was visiting ate the rest. We even enjoyed the deep fried California roll. My bento box was ok and I ate the rest the next day which tasted better the next day oddly but good. They are small very intimate so a date night spot or small group of 4 will enjoy. They say evening time is when they get busy FYI Will possibly come back but I only say that because I don't live close by. I'll get sake then when I do!! I highly suggest them

The rolls were quite tasty, the miso was good, I had ordered the tempura without shrimp, and only veggies, since I had already eaten a lot of fish inside the rolls. I appreciated the attentiveness from the staff working at the sushi bar, however, upon first bite of our sushi rolls, the quality was visibly lacking. The tuna my mom ordered did not look fresh and the color was a bit off. I ordered 2 rounds of unagi handrolls and they were drenched in unagi sauce so i couldn't really taste the unagi itself. The options on the conveyer belt were limited and the food looked like they were left out there all day (we were there for dinner). And finally, we ordered the soft shell crab hoping it would have some redeeming notes and it left an unpleasant sour aftertaste. It was not fresh and that was the last straw for us. The ambience inside was cold and lackluster. It didn't look like much thought was put into making the space feel inviting. I was not a fan of the interiors. Unfortunately, this place was a hard miss for me.
