Blue Gingko is my favorite sushi spot in Lafayette. But they also do many Japanese traditional dishes as well. They have a wide selection of fresh offerings. I prefer going straight for the Chirashi plate of sushi but they have great rolls as well. I would recommend the Lafayette, Jalapeño, or Spicy Hamachi rolls. The restaurant is small and has a very intimate and comfortable vibe. The staff will be attentive and answer any questions if you feel insecure about the Japanese menu don't worry! Had lunch here and things were semi-crowded (restaurant was about 60% full). Tables were clean and the ambiance was calm/quiet. Would be a great place for a casual sushi date. Service was excellent and attentive. My waitress was the only server working there, and she did a great job keeping my water glass full and making sure I was satisfied with my meal. The food was alright for the price. I ordered the Philly and Lafayette rolls. They came out promptly and as described in the menu. Even though each roll only came with 6 pieces, they were very thick (about 2x as thick as the ones you see in grocery stores). The bites are well-proportioned and tasty. I did spontaneously order some inari (not pictured unfortunately), and it was just okay. $5 for two pieces felt kind of like highway robbery, but for a place that has to pay Lafayette rent, I'm not going to condemn them for it. read more

I was a little skeptical getting sushi here after seeing the ratings but I had a hankering for some after getting some Susie's Cakes so I decided to give it a go since it was close by. I came right when it opened and decided to sit outside. I opened the menu and immediately saw high prices for sushi- one roll was already $18.95. Yikes. The waitress offered some specials - one was the Ohana roll: shrimp tempura and crab inside and topped with hamachi and shiso leaf. Sounded yummy. It arrived and it looked pretty. Gotta admit - it was delicious. The components really went nicely together and that SAUCE on the side. It was a savory sweet unagi sauce that was addicting. It really added some nice umami flavors to the roll. I was tempted to get some salmon sashimi but 3 pieces was already $12.95. I opted for the bill, which was $21 with tax. The food is pretty good but not sure if it's worth the $$$. I have a really yummy place in WC I go to with rolls for $12.95. Maybe I'll be back if I get the same craving in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

The cutest sushi spot hidden in Lafayette. I have never had poke with honey before and their Ahi Poke was amazing. It says it's served with a spicy sauce but it's very mild/the honey balances it out. The Tita roll was phenomenal!! It's sad to see the other reviews of Blue Gingko. It's definitely a smaller place so service may not be 100% 5-star but the staff is really nice and hustling to serve you. They also have one of the best wine lists I've seen compared to other sushi restaurants. read more

Consistently fantastic food, atmosphere, and staff, whether you choose to eat in-person or pickup your meal. My family has been going here for 5+ years and it's part of the regular rotation. This is a generous 3 stars - it was really more of a 2.5 star meal. We ordered 3 rolls, salmon teriyaki, chicken udon, tempura and edamame for pick up. Rolls: These were decent. The spicy crunchy yellow tail was the best. The dragon roll was pretty good. The jalapeño roll was super unexciting. It was just a normal roll with slices of raw jalapeño on top. Salmon teriyaki: The salmon was waaay overcooked. The two toddlers who usually love salmon wouldn't eat it. Chicken udon: This was legit terrible. Like, inedible. Each adult had one bite and then we threw the entire thing away. Tempura: Pretty good. Edamame: Nice and salty. Nothing special, though. I probably will go elsewhere next time I'm craving sushi. read more

Service Excellent! Well oiled machine. Friendly staff! Chefs outstanding. Quaint and intimate. Clean as well. Very nice to not have TV's anywhere so you can converse and enjoy one another. Family friendly. Food was outstanding! We frequent many sushi restaurants including Sasa and Blue Sakana and this by far was the best Sushi we've had in a long time. Recommend the Tropical roll was flavorful and delicious. The Mita was also an excellent choice. I know where we're going for Sushi next time for sure. I ordered 7 (SEVEN as in 7) piece sushi for almost $30. was about 27 bux or something. very very mundane, ordinary sushi pieces that I could whip up by buying fish from a supermarket- not fresh at all, previously frozen exuding water molecule. 2 very mundane tuna, 2 very boring salmon, 2 very boring white fish came out. without even a salad or miso soup. she made it sound like it would be extra. I don't know... It was a total ' meh' experience. I would never go here again since I know there are so many other good sushi places. I thought it would be good since the place was quite crowded and I thought sophisticated lafayettan would choose very good sushi but I am mistaken. Pete's or Noah's in the morning, pop into McCulla's or Treasure trove for gifts n cards and always in and out of WFoods.Gingko happens to be right in the mix tucked between all of these other places making it. easy to pop in for dinner. Food is typically reliable sushi fare, with choice of sushi bar or nice booth seats to tuck in and enjoy a meal. This last visit to BG I ordered take out 20 min before I left work. I was slowly greeted to be seated and said. "Hello I've placed an order for pick up" Without word, lady turned and walked away. I stood there at the entrance for another 15 min waiting for my order; which was awkward to stand so for long near the door amongst others seated trying to enjoy their meals. I saw another person walk in and quickly raced to the podium in the back and grabbed there bag of takeout. So perhaps this is the place where one is suppose to go for pick up, noted head to the back near the steamy kitchen. Food was brought tied-up in white take out bags without a smile or thank you? It felt odd and like I was burdening them. There were only people at one table and one gent at the sushi bar..hum? Must be busy take out orders I presumed? Take out food wasn't as good as eating in house, something is just lost food quality of flavors, texture and forgot my miso soup. If you go, eat locally in house. read more
