Used to be one of my favorite fish taco place, but unfortunately their menu changed. My go to was always the BFG tacos, which were seriously one of the best fish tacos ever. Apparently, they took it off the menu the day before I came back to town for a visit. Previously fries and chips came with the fish tacos and sandwiches. Now you have to pay extra for them. I tried the Latin Mahi bowl, since my usual BFG tacos were missing. i'm not one to leave food on my plate. If I do, I usually pack it up. In this case, I didn't want to bother bringing the dish home. The fish was really dry and the beans were bland. The redeeming factor of the dish were the caramelized plantains. Those were delicious at least. I wish the restaurant would return back to its original menu and quality of food. Now, the food isn't as good and the prices are higher. This could be due to the fact that they moved from their original location to a larger building with two floors. I guess they need to cover the expense somehow, but I would have been happier had they stayed in their original location producing the high quality food that I had always attributed to them. read more

Okay, where is the water, beach, sand, and seagulls? Feels like this place should be at the shore and if it was it would get an extra star. The Baja Tacos I ordered were good though the fish was a little tough yet not dry or greasy so go figure that one. I love the thin fries and service was great. We have had several lunches here. The food is very good and the service is prompt and fun. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 are the flies inside the restaurant that were annoying when we had lunch there this past summer. It was the only time it happened, but one that's difficult to forget. On the plus side, it they have clam chowder on the menu, get several quarts to take home. A true winner! read more

WOW what a great meal. I am SO happy we ordered the Mussels. They came in this DELICIOUS coconut curry tasting broth. Excellent. I ordered the Latin Mahi Bowl, loved it. The Mahi was so so good, perfect flavor. The Black Beans, Rice, and Plantains were done well. My friend ordered the Grilled Shrimp, Asparagus, and Rice and it came with a side of Pesto Butter. I tasted the Pesto Butter, YUM! I saw them bring out some amazing looking salads and sandwiches, can't wait to come back and get that. Atmosphere: Perfect blend of Industrial, Casual, and Stylish. I still absolutely love this place. They have a new location and I love it so much more than the other place, why? Well I hated that other parking lot and this one is so much easier to get in and out of. I know that sounds like an absurd comment but really it is so much better! The inside is really clean and nice, I love the lamp jars, I notice the little details. It doesn't seem to have any more seating than it used to. It is more open and looks much nicer. I did not see any outside seating, but this also could be due to the new location and it not being super warm yet. There is a bigger waiting area in the front. Food is just as good as ever. The menu changed a little bit. I was nervous when I didn't see the Calamari Po-Boy on there because I also turn that into tacos. If you love calamari then I would definitely suggest that. NOT the one with avocado, the one with coleslaw and tartar sauce. It's heavenly. The french fries are still amazing and I love getting extra seasoning for it. The owner is super nice and friendly, always remembers my boyfriend and the waitress even remembered us. Great people and great food. read more

Amazing little fish shack I wish I lived closer to! Delicious, very fresh fish at amazing prices. A mix of classic "fish shack" fare, like fried clams, and Innovative seafood fusions (the Tokyo tacos, with seared Ahi tuna were to die for). For the summer I would suggest you wait for an outside table. We didn't, and the inside is not air conditioned, or properly vented. Still, that is pretty much the only flaw. We split an order of Tokyo tacos and fried clam strips for our apps. I had the swordfish special and my fiance had the Calamari Po-Boy. Everything was cooked to perfection. The seared Ahi in the tacos was so amazingly fresh, I couldn't believe I was in Flemington. They had sold out of the Mahi-Mahi and the other fish special by the time we got there, and it was only 7:30 or so on a Saturday, so be warned. The place was pretty packed, but our server, Courtney, was amazing. Despite the fact that she was managing two large parties, we never felt either neglected or rushed. She fully explained all the menu options, answered our questions, and chit chatted about the food and her favorites. BYOB helps keep the cost down, on food that is already amazingly cheap--especially for the quality. Be warned though, expect to be given disposable plastic cups for your wine! read more

We stopped in here for a quick lunch today, before heading out for a few wine tastings. Sat outside, kept it simple, we each ordered tacos. (1) Tokyo Taco - ahi tuna, and baja - beer battered mahi-mahi. Was the perfect size for a light lunch, no alcohol, unless you want to purchase a bottle of wine from one of the local NJ vineyards. Our tacos were excellent. Weather was perfect for a day outside, side note that i will add is that depending on which way the wind is blowing, we did get wafts of garbage. we were at the end of the dining area and this could be the only place that happens. Didn't linger but we did experience a few times. Server was very knowledgeable of the menu and specials and was very courteous. My only complaint was that water was not brought or offered, and once my seltzer was finished, he didn't ask to refill or check on our status of beverages. It was a perfect evening for outdoor dining and the hosts made sure our reservation saw us sitting at a prime outdoor table. Went to Blue Fish Grill for lunch. I've been there a number of times...both at their original location and the "new" one. The original BFG was a favorite. It was very casual and served really nice seafood at a very reasonable price. After the relocation / expansion there has been far greater variability to both food quality and service. On this visit, I found the menu changed again and all the mains are now served ala carte with all side dishes as options. Clearly designed as a move to increase revenue, I was a bit disappointed to see this most recent change. However, I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were quite good. I noticed that the tacos themselves now come 3 to an order vs. 2 on the prior menu...although they are a bit smaller...so net net...no change. Service was ok. The waiter was on the informal side...so that style comes down to personal preference. On food alone I would rate BFG a 4...but service and historical inconsistency merits a 3...I'll re-evaluate my rating on my next visit. read more

The food is great, but disposable plates/silverware/cups ... seriously ?! We had heard about this place for quite a while, with many friends suggesting we try it. We finally did. Blue Fish is definitely a no-frills casual experience. We went on a Friday evening for dinner and it was busy. Lots of people, ranging from families to older couples, filled both the restaurant and the outdoor seating areas. We had a bit of a wait, but after agreeing to take one of the tall 'two-top' bar room style tables it didn't take long to get seated. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was good albeit a little dry. It came with french fries (spiced; excellent!) and coleslaw (good). I also had a blackbean soup as an appetizer. The service was prompt, though not especially so or especially professional or attentive. The wait staff was primarily composed of high school and slightly older young people. My only complaint was the manner in which everything was served. I received my sandwich in a plastic basket and paper tray (which was fine) but my soup and coleslaw came in disposable styrofoam bowls! Our drinks were also served in disposable cups and my wife's meal (tuna steak) was served on a disposable plate! I find this completely unacceptable, from the perspective of 'green' to appearance to enjoyment of my meal. Everything about the concept is not justifiable in my opinion. We ate a nice Sunday lunch here. Our server was excellent and we followed his suggestions. One brisket sandwich with fries and the ahi tuna tacos. Both selections were great, just what we wanted. Years after my bad experience I wanted to give them another try. I made reservations online, which really weren't needed for a Sunday afternoon. Our waiter was really nice and efficient. I really like how they have their lunch menu set up, in regards to the section with picking a grilled item, a side, and a sauce. I think its great they let you order from the brunch or lunch menu on the weekend. I was surprised at the starkness of the inside, there were only 4 tables when I was there and it was loud. It could use some decorations. However my fish was flavorful and fresh. I think this is a great spot to add to my revolving restaurant list. I am definitely glad I came back. read more

Not ashamed to say i come here about once a week. The food is amazing no matter what you order and for the prices you really cant beat it. My go to is the tokyo tacos, the ahi tuna always comes out perfectly. Also, the nachos, whether its the pork or tuna, are incredible. I could literally order them as my meal. Highly recommend!
