The food is very good its worth it. But if the day is busy the service isn't so well other than that it's the best Mexican place to eat at.

Sorry folks, but this place is a joke. Like many restaurants in Bay Ridge they seem to think it's OK to suck. The veggie burrito had nothing in it, basically 90% rice, with some spinach, and then topped with a dollop of guacamole. The nachos had no beans, no salsa and were just pretty uneventful. The salad we ordered was passable at best - again nothing to write home about. How in the world this place gets a good rating is beyond me. Save your time and your money and skip it. read more

By far my favorite place in all of Bay Ridge!! The pictures of their food and drinks don't even do this place justice! I have never had a bad experience here, workers go out of their way and are all very accommodating. Food and drinks are excellent. My friends and I have eaten at just about every Mexican cuisine restaurant, especially in the bay ridge area, but we continue to return to Blue Agave time and time again and are never disappointed. The food was excellent at Blue Agave. The space isn't large but it's decorated very nice. There's apparently an outside space that opens soon. My Aunt and I shared the shrimped stuffed poppers: spicy pepper, cheddar, shrimp, sour cream and wrapped in crispy bacon. I had the Churriburro burrito, which was with Mexican chorizo. She had the burrito bowl that comes in a crispy tortilla bowl and three different types of meat. My only complaint was that the $2 extra guacamole cost they barely give you anything. I don't drink, but my Aunt had the Pina Colada Margarita and she enjoyed them both. I'll definitely come back here. read more

I was extremely disappointed with the food, especially with the chicken burrito. I ordered a few items from the menu from appetizers to drinks. Nothing that I ordered, had taste to it, very bland food. We had to keep adding salt and salsa to give it some flavor. They even messed up the horchata drink...smh. Standard Mexican fare, nothing special. Service totally sucked though. They sat us in the backyard seating area, then promptly forgot about us. Like five full minutes to bring the menus, another five minutes for water, then another hiatus to take the drink order, then honestly another what seemed forever to place the food order. The waiter left the tortilla chip basket with red salsa sauce. Sauce looked like straight out of a restaurant depot can. Food came reasonably quick. We had asked for just a cheese only quesadilla for my daughter (bonus! it came with chicken!), my son ordered a beef and chicken burrito (loads of rice and beans, next to none of the expensive stuff, like beef and chicken). Wife had unremarkable chicken and rice dish, and I had two unremarkable chicken tacos. Funny, a large group next to us was also laughing at some issue with their orders, but I didn't get the details. I can't come to bay ridge without stopping here, in fact, sometimes I make the trip just for them! Amazing food. The drinks are even better! They have great happy hour menus. I've been there several times to eat in and also to take out. This place has the perfect mix of atmosphere, food, service and reasonable prices. The rotisserie chicken is awesome; very juicy and wings are not burnt and dried out like other places. The crispy shell taco is another great item and not easy to find at many restaurants with Mexican cuisine. I hate soft shell tacos and I'm glad this place has them to keep me coming back :-). When you dine around Bay Ridge, you won't find other places that can serve up what this place does. Great spot for date night, large groups or dining solo. Went here for brunch a couple of weeks ago. The food was great! I ordered the huevos rancheros off of the brunch menu. I'm a light eater, and the entrees was perfectly portioned for my appetite (interpret that how you will). The mimosas were well made, and the service was great. Small restaurant with good service. Guacamole was delicious, tasted fresh and homemade. I also enjoyed the chicken tinga quesadillas which was tasty. After my first time coming here, I thought I would have to give it another shot. It was busy, so I figured this would be a good place to get some food. I got the steak, and my date got the pork. Both were tasteless, and my steak was tough as shark skin. It came with vegetables (also tasteless) which I could swear were frozen. We decided to come again because of the yelp rating and because the alcoholic drinks were fantastic. The second time, we came when it was empty and I got the burrito bowl, which the waiter assured me was a good choice. I'll admit it was better than the steak, but not by much at all. My date got chicken, rice and beans, saying "how could they possibly mess that up," yet somehow, they did. The only reason this place is getting 2 stars instead of one is because the service is good and the drinks and guacamole are good. Come here for happy hour, not food. read more

Ordered delivery. Got the arroz con pollo, shrimp empanadas and maduros (sweet plantain) to share with bae. The food took longer to arrive than it was supposed to but when it arrived it was hot and delicious. The green sauce that came with the empanadas was to die for. The first time my family and I tried this place, we were very happy. The guacamole was fresh and tasty. The steak was cooked to perfection, my wife's enchilada was good and my daughter enjoyed her quesadilla. We went again with our friends and had a very different experience. It was very loud and hard to hear the waiter. The guacamole was very bland this time around. It tasted like plain mashed avocado. The white sangria was not very good but their red was. I had the pernil, which was also bland and dry. Everyone at the table was less than thrilled with their entrees. Not sure if we will return. read more

So disappointed at their food today. This restaurant usually has delicious and fresh food to serve even for delivery (which my family had). The guacamole was already brown when it got to our house (this has never happened before). Also it is very bland it's just like eating mushed avocado. The shrimp enchilada had like 3-4 pieces of teeny tiny shrimp so it ended up being all tortilla. Lastly, the Pernil Platter tasted more sour than usual and didn't taste fresh. The place looks great but it was not for me. I would go by and get alcohol and just sit at the bar but other than that the food was not amazing. We order fried yuca which was not even fried. I know what fried looks like and it literally looked steamed with no flavor. We also ordered guacamole that had no taste which was a shock because how can someone ruin Guacamole! Then, we ordered quesadilla which wasn't that great . They just squeeze sour cream and green salsa on top of quesadilla very carelessly. There was suppose to be pico de gallo but instead they left a small piece of romaine lettuce and some tomatoes. I was really looking forward for the pico de Gallo but they ruined that too. The only thing that tasted good was the tostones and the garlic sauce that came with it. The waiter was great and tipped him very well but other than that, I wouldn't eat there again. read more

My delivery was 90min late! I normally wouldn't follow up with a review because things can go wrong for anyone. Though, what's not appreciated is when I'm told my food is late because it's busy. That has nothing to do with my experience. Which was awful. Consider, from a management perspective, that as a consumer I'm not at fault if the staff cannot keep up with in house and delivery orders. At best a courtesy call explaining the delay would be appreciated. At worst a polite voice on the other end of a call would be helpful. read more
