This is the first time that we have been to Blu Karma but we have heard great things! There were 7 of us and we tried a large variety. We had everything from boneless spareribs,salt & pepper chicken wings, chicken fingers, lettuce wraps and teriyaki beef to Pad Thai, Peking duck, crispy beef, and sushi as well as sushi pizza. This place is very special! Every single dish was excellent, not just good. The waitress that we had was very helpful and she was constantly checking in on us. This is a tiny place so make a reservation but don't miss a chance to go there. This is the Best Asian restaurant on the North Shore. read more

The food was just ok on average. The miso soup was really good but came out just luke warm, and the veggie egg rolls were good. But definitely not the best spicy tuna roll I have had. It was ground up tuna mixed with spicy sauce. When it's prepared this way, you never know how fresh it is. The udon noodle dish was a good sized portion for two. The flavor was good, but the shrimp were small and the oil seemed heavy on the noodles. The best part of that dish was the broccoli and mushrooms in the noodles. The dried stringbeans were on the spicy side and would have been better with garlic instead of the chili. The waitstaff were way too serious and hardly smiled except for the woman that appeared to be the owner--she smiled. read more

Delightful, delicious and de-lovely! Wife and I stopped here for lunch on our way to Vermont and I could not be happier that we did! I tend to be nervous about Asian Fusion restaurants. The old adage about if you try to do too many things well you don't do any really applies to a lot of places in this category of dining options. However, there are exceptions to every rule (how many cliches can I get into one paragraph) and Blu Karma certainly is that. Every dish we ordered was fabulous (with the possible exception of the miso soup which was not as flavorful as we'd like it to be). The sushi was fresh, presented nicely and was the perfect texture and temperature. And any place that brings out gluten-free soy sauce is a winner in our book! The pork fried rice and crab Rangoon were both among the best I've had and the sesame chicken very tasty as well. And they have a $1 oyster special with well-shucked and yummy oysters. As if the delicious wasn't enough, the service was also tremendous. From Tina (owner?) to our waitress to the oyster guy who told us why and how he picked today's offering it was clear all were dedicated to ensuring a positive dining experience. We had dinner here tonight for my birthday. With a yelp checkin, you get a free crab app. It was so-so, but who can complain about free? Realistically, I wouldn't order it again though. He had the house fried rice (delicious and light, compared to other place's dense and oily F.R.) and I had the special blu karma maki, as well as the true love maki. Both were absolutely wonderful. We also had the chocolate cake with ice cream (and a candle!). It was cute that the waiter sang happy birthday. Thankfully my husband joined in so he didn't feel awkward! My only complaint is they do not offer a sashimi appetizer. I wanted 1 maki roll and a small assortment of sashimi. Because they don't have it, I would be forced to have 3 pieces of the same fish, which was not ideal. Meh. So I got two delicious rolls instead. Otherwise... Excellent. read more

Blu Karma has good sushi, simply put. For the more complex review - Blu Karma has some really good sushi, and not so good sushi. Their really good sushi is expensive, and their not so good sushi....is also expensive. I had a single order of the Sake Sushi (Salmon meat on top of rice), and each one was teeny-tiny. I'm not from Texas and am expecting a plate sized piece of sushi; no, I'm expecting something worth the $5.50 I shelled out for that one order - not scraps. Also, the Sake Sushi wasn't well put together. On a happier note, I also has the Golden Tempura maki, and that roll was fantastic. The quality was a 180 (a reverse for those who didn't do too well in trig.) from the Sake Sushi. It was well made, tasted great, and the quantity was what I expected. There were two others rolls (I was sharing with someone else, I wasn't eating all of these orders), and they too were good as well. To sum it up, there were hits and misses, but mostly hits. My only other gripe are the prices. Some prices are understandable, but the Sake Sushi was obscenely over priced. there were a few other items that were a bit pricey, but you'll tend to spend a lot when going out regardless of where you go. I'd recommend this place, but just be aware of what I personally have experienced. read more

Loved the food here. Came in the night before Valentine's day without a reservation and getting a table wasn't difficult at all, although they were clearly busy! I drank the Lychee sangria which was delicious. We had the Dragon Eye and spicy edamame for starters and sushi for dinner. Everything was great! Service was excellent. Sunita & I found ourselves in Danvers, MA at lunch time today with absolutely no idea where to go. Using our GPS we discovered more places than we cared to think about, so just chose one that what would fit both of us (difficult as she is a vegetarian.) Did we ever make the right Choice! As soon as we entered, we were happy with our decision. The interior was well furnished in a minimalist style. Very appropriate for a restaurant with "Karma" in it's name. We were greeted by a warm and welcoming person, who we later learned was also the owner along with her husband. Tina and Evan were fabulous hosts! Everything we had was FANTASTIC and the presentation was out of this world. We started with a delightful Carrot Appetizer in a thin and crispy phyllo style shell. We both had the hot & sour soup which was flavorful and left us each with a warm glow. Which is hard to do as I like everything extra spicey and Sunita does not. ( I learned that I could have had mine "Crazy Spicey", ah, if only I had know.) For our main course Sunita had the Udon Soup and I had the Mongolian Beef Lunch Special, with a spring roll. Both dishes were wonderful. The vegetables were crisp and fresh, the noodles (& Beef) tender and tasteful. All in all, everything was AMAZING. Thank you Evan & Tina, for a excellent dining experience. I'm sure we will find our way back to Blu Karma again. P.S. I see I forgot to mention we also shared the Sweet Potato Maki. Awful experience. Called at 6pm for a 2 plate order, wanted it delivered. Was told the online order would was confirmed at 6:05. Said it would take an hour. Food arrived finally at 7:50, delivered by one of the cooks, who didn't know English. Blu Karma is cheap, pathetic, and shameful. Maybe they should not be so cheap and hire better delivery drivers, a delivery service, or maybe more cooks. Instead of, you know, paying slave wages and offering terrible customer service, as is well documented here. Also the food was soggy, cold and gross. I am going to actually dispute the charges with my bank because this amounts to business fraud. I wish to God they would just put the Kentucky Fried Chicken back in the that spot instead.
