When we decided to resurface our aging swimming pool, we obtained three remodeling bids. All three estimates were comparable, but Blu Dolphin stood out because it is a locally owned Novato business, which was an important factor in our decision. Their references were outstanding, giving us the confidence to move forward with their team. The owner, Dick McHaney, expertly guided us through every step of the process, helping us make several important design decisions. He was always available to answer my many questions and did an excellent job coordinating with our landscape contractor throughout the project. We couldn't be happier with the finished result. The design recommendations Dick made were exactly right, and the pool looks beautiful. Dick and his team were consistently professional, courteous, and respectful of our schedule--and even thoughtful about working around our dog. The project was completed on time, stayed within budget, and exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Blu Dolphin Service and Repair to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, reliable, and professional pool remodeling company. read more

There are no words to express how pleased my HOA is with the service provided by Blu Dolphin. After having to deal with other companies in the past, Blu Dolphin is the best. They respond quickly to all service requests, even coming out on a Sunday to do an emergency repair. I strongly recommend Blu Dolphin to anyone who has a pool and needs regular maintenance, service, reconstruction, etc. read more

Dick is a rare find. Old-school business ethics coupled with real genuine current expertise on all aspects of pool remodeling. He took our old pool and made it true showpiece. Something you'd see in Architectural Digest. Zero sales pressure, down to earth, immediately responsive, and always available. Fair pricing. I couldn't recommend Dick and his entire team more highly. I haven't completed my project (or even started for that matter) but could not wait to recommend this company based on the outstanding customer service...I mean totally above and beyond!!!!! I have a complicated job replacing an obsolete pool light. I had a couple of company's tell me no before I finished describing the job, "been there, done that, not worth the hassle." Rebecca and the team at Blu Dolphin have had amazing communication and follow up in trying to (successfully) locate a replacement light that will fit our 1970's Anthony Pool. They have provided me with resources, given free advice, and offered to take on a job that may prove difficult. Fingers crossed it isn't an impossible task, but I will follow up to update the review once completed. Regardless of the outcome, Blu Dolphin has earn Five Stars, my business, and my recommendation moving forward!!! read more

About three months ago, I had my 50 + year old pool resurfaced. I have to confess that I was a little overwhelmed only at the thought of embarking on this process. Although I had similar quotes from different companies, I decided to go with Blu Dolphin because of the reviews I read, along with the confidence and the knowledge that the owner showed. Boy, was I right to choose this company! Dick and his son Dan were very patient and informative . In addition, they were able to come and help me with the brown algae problem that developed three months later. They really care for their customers and take pride of their attentive service, which is hard to find . I also feel they are honest. I would recommend Blu Dolphin to anyone! You will find that all his positive reviews are genuinely correct! read more

Dick at Blu Dolphin saved us. Our pool project got held up by the town permit requirements, Covid, and then my original contractors ended up getting sick. Dick came in and dealt with the town directly as well as coordinated with my architect. Yes, we had to get an architect to remodel our pool as the town required computerized plans! His team was pulled in many directions as other pool projects seemed to keep taking priority and we could not get the crew on-site to finish the project. However, Dick escalated our project and found a way to free up his crew so we could get the pool done. Dick managed the process and got our pool filled and working perfectly! If you are remodeling your pool, give Dick and his team a look. He also referred us to an excellent dealer to finish the coping connection to our concrete decking. Our concrete guy promised to handle the "Decco Seal" but then ended up saying the pool guy needed to handle that sealing when he decided to take on another project. Dick ended up making the intro and we got the finishing touches done on the pool for $500 instead of $1200 which my concrete guy had quoted. read more

Dick, who is the company owner, (family owned), and all of his employees are fantastic! We had a total remodel. New plaster, pebble stone surfacing, coping and design changes. The process was smooth with Dick always being the point person and keeping us in the loop with good communication. The final product is better than we could have imagined! Our backyard has been transformed into a Caribbean getaway; complete with Baja shelf, umbrella holders and a non-skid ramp so grandparents can enter easily and safely! Dick's got a great sense of humor too! Fun to work with! read more

It's ALL trues, I couldn't agree with all of the reviews of Blu Dolphin (i.e., Dick) more! We recently completed a pool remodel (coping, waterline tile and pebble finish) and Dick was there every step of the way, imparting decades of knowledge and experience to ensure we were pleased with the result. As others have noted, just a genuine good guy who wants nothing but the best for his clients and for them to be happy when all is said and done. When we had commitment issues on the color of the pebble, Dick took us on a Saturday afternoon to look at prior projects he completed so we could be sure. He offered various suggestions around ways to enhance our pool an overall pool experience, which I can now say my family is thrilled with and enjoying all the time! Moreover, Dick's expertise spared us from what would likely have been major issues down the road costing us thousands of dollars to repair. In short, Dick and his team discovered deficiencies with the installation of our paver decking (the decking work was performed by another contractor) causing damage to the newly installed coping and waterline tile. Dick also noted drainage/grading problems, which we were then able to address with the decking contractor because Dick identified these issues immediately. Within days of filling the pool we discovered a leak in the pool plumbing (caused by jack-hammer when old deck was removed), and once again Dick was there to help troubleshoot and ultimately located where the leak was and repaired it for us. If you're looking to remodel your pool and want honesty, integrity and quality, I highly recommend Blu Dolphin!!! read more

Not very interested in pursuing work or customer service friendly. I called to see if I could talk to someone about a pool resurfacing project. They were not interested citing the fact that county permits were required. I indicated that I was aware of that and willing to get the appropriate permits and that other competitors today are willing to build that into the cost of the project which is what I am expecting. They indicated they are not willing to do this and would not even participate in providing a quote. Their staff is not able to articulate why they would do business differently than everyone else. And this is not about not wanting to get permits. It is about wanting to follow the right process and working with a business that will provide the right guidance. I guess they don't want business. read more

Blu Dolphin did a great job refurbishing my pool. Replaced plaster with mini-pebble, new tile, new skimmer, LED color light, auto-fill water system, etc... Very knowledgeable and on-schedule with a fair price. read more

Old school service. Best in the business. PERIOD. You can't afford to put your pool in anyone else's hands.

I have been with Blu Dolphin for many years and have always had great service. This year I've had more problems due to algae blooms and an aging pump not functioning. Dick came out at night and on weekends to respond to each of my inquiries. He was so attentive, thorough, and exceptionally fair with his charges. He's like the old fashioned kind of service guy - he cares about his clients and takes personal pride in solving problems, and communicating with his clients. He goes the extra mile. read more

We just finished having our pool resurfaced and repair of the skimmer and new tile around the circumference all done and coordinated by Blu Dolphin. We could not be more pleased!! We had several estimates including one from the prior company who did the job many years ago. Dick @ Blu Dolphin gave us the most inclusive estimate and suggestions to enhance the remodel. His crew are excellent technicians. Their foreman Lazlo is terrific. He stays on top of the job making sure we were happy with each segment of the work. Each day the crew cleaned up spotless. Dick checked in with us frequently to ensure we were happy with the progress. Job finished in one week, pool refilled and Blu Dolphin is assisting us during the follow up period. We are thrilled with the results. If you have a pool in Marin, need a remodel/ re-finish or other service, this is the company to go to. You'll enjoy working with Dick and crew. read more

If I could give Blu Dolphin 10 STARS I would in a heartbeat! DICK MCHANEY the owner is one stand up guy who knows his stuff. Not only is his work, communication and service superb, he is HONEST and Genuine. He never disappoints, has fair pricing and is very trust worthy. I highly recommend Dick and Blu Dolphin. He has been servicing my Company Pool for over a decade and he still goes out of his way to always make sure we are well taken care of. When our pool heater went out, he was onsite immediately....when something is broken, he doesn't skip a beat to make sure we are back in business asap. I can't rave enough about his service. You won't be disappointed in his quality of work either. This man truly goes above and beyond, stays and works long hours to make sure we are always up and operating because he knows our business' pool is our livelihood. I can't count how many times we have called him for one thing or another, and Blu Dolphin is continuously here within a reasonable time frame. THANK YOU DICK, you are more than appreciated. Support your local SMALL BUSINESS, this is truly one that deserves it!!!! http://www.bludolphinpoolservice.com/index-1.html 10 STARS!!! read more

Our pool heater was stopped and I called few local repair guys. First, I was recommended by one of the pool repair service (listed in Yelp of course) that our pool heater is in very bad shape (top of the line model in 2010) thus needs to be replaced with new. They came up with the cost of 3.3K for heater and 110 labor per an hour. I kinda thought it was too expensive as the model they referred was 1.6K in Amazon and everywhere. Anyway, I ordered the heater while I was getting another opinion from Blu Dolphin. They came by on a same day. They looked at the heater and said they were pretty sure that the heater can be repaired. He had his son come by next business day and his son fixed the heater and it runs as good as new now. I returned the heater which was sitting in the garage although I had to pay return shipping. It would have been minimum of 4K but it was fixed at a fraction of cost. Belvedere/Tiburon repair services are not cheap of course and I am usually ok to live with that however I found few repair services are not honest and just trying to rip off customers. Dick and his son were highly professional and honest. I highly recommend Blu Dolphin to neighbor friends, These guys are absolutely fantastic and trustworthy! read more

The owner, Dick Mchaney, communicated well regarding the work that needed to be done and the risks involved, completed the work as agreed and then went the extra mile when additional problems arose for which he had not bid.
