When trying to find a location to obtain my BLS certification, I stumbled upon BLS Services LLC and saw several positive reviews. However, my experience was anything but positive. I registered for a class with Larry on July 6, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. On the day of my class, he calls and messages me two hours prior saying that he just had surgery on his knee and is unable to have the class because he was in pain and was unable to move. Although I was frustrated, I understood his situation. He told me to come the next morning at 9:00 a.m. but I was unavailable so I rescheduled for the following Monday at 5:00 p.m. While driving to work on Monday, he called me again saying that his leg was all bandaged up and he would not be able to have the class. I asked him what day he would be available and he responded with "I want this to be a pleasant experience for you so you pick a time that is best suitable for you." Given that I work, I picked Friday at 5:00 pm. As expected, he continued to demonstrate being difficult and said it would be better to come at 1 p.m. because there was another student registered for that time and we could work together. Although I was annoyed that I would have to leave from work early, I appreciated the sincerity in letting me know the experience would be better with another student. On Wednesday, I received a text message from him saying that he appreciated how flexible I was and that he would see me Saturday at 9 a.m. At this point, I was extremely irritated because I thought he had moved my appointment again. I messaged him back expressing my anger and he told me "Too bad we have a great group. Do you want your money back go to PayPal ask for reconciliation they will refund you good luck." I instantly called him and asked him why he moved my appointment again. He denied that he ever sent me the text messages about having a Saturday class at 9:00 a.m. and said I was still registered for Friday's class. Upon arriving to the location on Friday, I find a note saying that his phone is dead and he is at physical therapy so all students should come the following day at 9.00 a.m. I should mention that the note also said he needs to have knee surgery even though two weeks prior he sent me a text message saying that he just had knee surgery three weeks ago. Perhaps he needed a second surgery but it all seemed like a lie. I waited in the parking lot for five minutes and called him. Funny enough, he responded even though his note conveniently said his phone was dead. He told me that he just got back from therapy five minutes ago and he wasn't able to have the class because he was bandaged up. However, his house only has one entrance and I did not see anyone go in so his excuse that he just got home five minutes ago was yet again another lie. Plus, if all this time he was unable to have the class because his leg was bandaged up, who was saying the subsequent days wouldn't be the same? I asked for a refund which I have not received yet so I filed a dispute with my credit card company. This has been the most ridiculous and displeasing encounter I have ever had. I highly advise not picking BLS Services LLC for your certifications.. read more

BLS Services - CPR Classes Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

After a terrible experience with another local company that provides CPR classes, a co-worker recommended that I contact "her guy," Larry, at BLS Services. I called him midday today and asked if I could attend his class tonight. Despite the fact that the class was only a few hours later, he invited me to join and confirmed the location and time of the class. Larry offers the classes out of his home. He has the front room (formal living/dining area) converted into a classroom, and it works perfectly. There are a couple of sofas and and several chairs lining the perimeter of the room, leaving plenty of floor space open for the hands-on portion of the course. Music played while we filled out our paper work and got situated. There's even a table with ice cold bottles of water and a bowl of chocolates (awesome!) for student to enjoy during the class. There are enough mannequins for each of the students to have their own (unlike MANY other classes I have attended) allowing the class to move along quickly. Larry is patient and adept working with students of all skill levels and backgrounds. Larry offers private lessons and classes for groups. He has been teaching CPR classes for over 20 years, and it shows. The class was concise but extremely informative. The classroom was comfortable and welcoming. The instructor was fun, experienced and kept the class moving. I would highly recommend BLS Services to anyone in need of a CPR or First Aid course! I will definitely be back in two years when it is time to renew! read more

Larry was very prepared. I really enjoyed this class because he didn't stand there telling all kinds of stories to make time drag. He kept to the lessons and even helped us review the test questions at the end so we can understand the rationales. He teaches twice a week but be aware that he no longer teaches first aid, only CPR. read more

Larry Sims has taught CPR for many years and is passionate about proper technique for CPR. He provides hands on instruction in a comfortable site and answers all questions in a humorous and thoughtful way. I've always appreciated how easy it is to schedule a class so I can schedule a class the same day I have to renew my CPR card. I cannot explain how much stress this man has put me through. After I scheduled my class, he called me explaining he didn't have the actual cpr cards but he would give me a copy. He seems pretty nice at first. He even offered me a refund afterwards because he coukdnt give me the actual card. The next day I told him yes, I would like a refund via email. He didnt respond so i tried calling him. He ignored all my calls. Finally, He told me he would issue a refund the next week (it was a friday). I then emailed him back wanting reassurance that he was sending it in 2 weeks via mail. It's been 4 weeks since our initial conversation about the refund. And 2 weeks since he "supposedly sent the check". I'm out 55 dollars and he refuses to respond to emails. I wish I would have never found this scammer. I do not recommend him at all. read more

Went online to book a class with BLS Services was charged and paid $55 dollars. The morning of the class my lady received a text with no name or contact information saying he had the flu and wouldn't be giving the class. After finding out this was Larry she called him back to tell him she really needed the course offered on that day that she paid for. She had to find a different provider to get in the required course for her job that her Supervisor found for her. When we inquired about getting a refund we were told to contact PayPal and try to get the refund from them even though he had already been paid. After the fact he refuses to answer calls or anymore emails giving her a refund for a course HE canceled without prior notice leaving her to scramble to find another last minute class. read more

I have had a First Aid class today and it went very great. Larry is very knowledgeable with a lot of experience in medical field. He was able to answer all my questions, provided real life examples, used visual and hands on approach. He also printed supplemental material for me to refer to if I need.
