Bloomies!!! This review is only for the home stuff on the first floor. I had to get a last minute wedding gift for my friend and I wanted to get a nice/pricy little gift. The store is clean and neatly organized, and sales staff were extremely helpful. I ended up buying a cute salt and pepper shaker for $89. O_o One would assume such a place like this would offer free gift wrap, but sadly they don't. The basic wraps start around $8+. But with that cost, I'd rather buy wrapping paper and ribbons and do it myself. read more

Where do I start! I love this store. If you enter from the West side via the parking lot, you walk up to this beautiful exterior wall that looks like liquid glass. I didn't stop to examine what it really was, I was too excited to go shopping. But as you go through the doors, you'll notice that it's not immediate shopping, but an art walk of sorts. There are paintings hung in the hallway before you reach the main shopping area. It's a great idea!!! It gives you some time to just appreciate the creativity and immerse yourself into a bit of culture. I went straight to the jeans shop and met Michael, he's the sales associate who is the denim expert. He spent so much time with me to help me find the perfect pair of jeans. His excitement was addicting! I think I tried on over a dozen pairs of jeans. It was exhausting, but I think that's the way to do it! When there are so many pairs to try on, I knew immediately, the 'No, this doesn't make my butt look good' from the YES, this is the one! I ended up buying 2 pairs, but still have at least 4 on the "to be purchased at a later time" list. The store is nicely laid out, clean, fun and fresh. Things are easy to find. Dressing rooms are big and have lots of rails to hang ALL the clothes you picked up. This is a must go shop! read more

This store is beautiful. Beautiful on the outside and, especially, on the inside. My favorite Bloomingdale's I have been to by far. The design and layout is exquisite. Very high end all around with their service, prices, and quality of items and variety of brands. You want good quality clothes that will last... come here! I have always experienced good customer service here too. Though it may be high end, I have luckily not experienced any snotty service, like some higher end stores I have shopped at. A lot of parking out of both of their exits that lead outside, but it can get crowded, especially during the Holiday season! read more

You would expect Bloomingdale's such an upscale store will have a better service staff. Unfortunately it's not the case based on our experience today. The service lady at the woman's AG Jeans counter was not very nice to customers. All she cares was selling the store credit cards. As soon as we said no, she sent us to a different service person. The department manager was able to listen to our concerns but we left with bad taste regardless. Sorry, the price does not measure up with the service, so we will not come back again. read more

I'm amazed by their customer service! The back handle of the large Longchamp Planetes Tonal tote I purchased in July 2011 recently started to crack and I was so disappointed! I loved this bag--it's so versatile and classic! So, I took it to the Longchamp boutique in South Coast Plaza hoping that there would be some kind of warranty, but the sales associate informed me that all they can do is ship the bag to their repair department and send me an estimate of how much it would cost for me to repair the handle. Mind you, all this would take 4-6 weeks, in addition to me paying to fix this defect! NO THANK YOU. I purchased the bag on Bloomingdales.com so I headed over to Bloomies to see if anything could be done on their part. The first sales associate I approached, without even so much as looking at the handle, saw me take out my bag and immediately offered an exchange. I wasn't even planning on visiting Bloomies so I left my receipt and Bloomingdale's card at home. However, the manager looked me up with my ID and SSN and was able to find and print out my transaction history for me! With that, the sales associate seamlessly exchanged my 7-month old bag for a new one, and I walked out with a brand new Lonchamp Planetes Tonal. What a completely unexpected surprise! One thing though, why there's only four stars, is because the sales associates are a bit pushy here. They have sales goals to meet, and they are not afraid to throw out suggestions and recommendations to make you purchase as much as you can, as soon as you can. read more

My favorite dept store at my favorite shopping center mall. Pretty much everything I need for my wardrobe. They have one of the best fragrance selections in the area. Awesome staff at the fragrance counters. One of my favorite things to do is to go sample some colognes and talk about our opinions and share w the staff. read more

This is simply the best Bloomingdales I have ever been to. It is aesthetically pleasing, everything is neat and tidy, and the customer service is (almost) perfect. I really like that they have a home store in the store, which makes holiday shopping a breeze. There is something for dad, bro, mom, and everyone else who makes it on this year's shopping list. For my figurative bros out there, the men's department is very hip and now, without going overboard. For the ladies, the entire second floor (third if you are counting the basement home store) is filled with great clean racks of clothes. I also enjoy how they stylish lay things out in store-in-store formatting. It feels like you are taking a walk through an array of shops, not just shopping endlessly at a chain store. Special standouts are Tahari, DVF, and Vince. The cosmetics department has anything you could ever desire from super-luxe high end brands (i.e. Le Mer) to your regular department store makeup. Everyone has always been super-helpful. The handbag department is always hip and carries mid-range labels to the Louis Vuitton store-in-store. Very now. It also has merchandise that you don't see everywhere. The attached restaurants, Charlie Palmer and An Qui, are simply divine! All is all, it is a very good shopping experience. Pro-tip: -1 Star for not being able to wear sweats and roll in all messy. I get much better service when I am in work clothes. read more

This is a review for the Chanel Makeup counter, I had the BEST experience here. My cousin was looking for some Christmas gifts and we had the best rep, Lucy. She was amazing, she helped pick out colors and other cosmetics that would match based on the person my cousin was giving it to. She sold us a couple of quads, some lipgloss and nail polish. She gave me a little makeover session where I was able to try the new Holiday line and she really hooked me up, eyes, lips, face pretty much all decked out and she did a wayyyy better job than when I went to mac, I seriously looked like I was caked in cosmetics! But enough about that, Lucy did a really good job the Birds of Paradise quad had very pretty colors and the end result was really nice! She also hooked us up with special promotional gifts, chanel travel sized mascara and perfume rollerball and bloomingdales travel case for free. Best rep by far, I would only go back to her. She made the shopping experience 100 times better! I definitely recommend her! read more

The week before my intimate, casual beach wedding, I decided I no longer liked my dress. I knew I had to hit up SCP if I was going to find anything worthwhile. Bloomie's to the rescue! The girl in the dress department offered to help the minute I walked in. I filled her in on my situation, and she whisked through the racks picking up potential dresses. Then, she pointed me to the juniors section next door and said she knew they had some styles over there I might like as well. She offered to hold me a fitting room while I ran over to grab a few more items. I tried on about 8 dresses similar to what I had described to the sales rep. Pricing ranged from $60 to about $250. I ended up with the *perfect* dress for $168. It was exactly what I had wanted all along. I wish I remember the name of the girl who assisted me. She was super-duper nice and totally made my day. read more

Ok, well let me just start by saying that CHRISTINA in the women's handbag department is the sweetest & most helpful person on that floor. She really went the extra mile for me yesterday when exchanging a purse. I had ordered a Marc Jacobs purse online & 5 days later they emailed that they were sold out & gave me 20% off my next online purchase. So I purchased a Michael Kors purse that I loved (at the time) & didn't like it too much once I received it. I went in the store, exchanged it & asked Christina if she couldn't honor the 20% in store since they didn't have the Tory Burch purse I HAD to have online. She was so pleasant and said it wouldn't be a problem she just had to run it by her manager and WAH LAH just like that I left a happy camper with the most beautiful Tory Burch purse in hand. For me, customer service absolutely determines if whether or not I will be back & I can guarantee that as long as Christina is there I will shop for another purse again. Matt King has been the man to see for mattresses at Bloomingdale's in South Coast for over a decade. DON'T TALK TO ANYONE ELSE! He is so knowledgeable, will tell you the truth always, and will make sure you gt exactly what is right for you! I have talked with most every mattress salesperson at both South Coast and Fashion Island and no one delivers better service and more expertise than Matt by a long shot. This is a well decorated department store. Especially the clothing department. My biggest pet peeve is the restrooms. It is so disgusting and dirty. Both restrooms on the first and third floor. The one on the third floor is a little nicer but the couches are so dirty it's hard to sit on them. I do like the cosmetics department and they have a lot of deals but nobody calls me in for the deals even though I requested it from multiple employees. That's fine. This was my first time buying something from Bloomingdales. I usually always shop at Nordstrom. I saw a really cute leather jacket on the mannequin walking in and I asked the guy in make up where I could find it. He was really nice and said upstairs and that I should take a pic of it to show them. So I did and proceeded upstairs. Right away a really nice woman named Melissa asked if I needed help. I showed her the jacket and she took me to the right department. The girl who helped me told me that it was the last one but I could try it on. I wish I had gotten her name. She was younger and really pretty and nice. We went back downstairs and she took it off the mannequin and told me to go in Chanel to look in the mirror to look at it. I loved it! We went back upstairs and I felt bad, but I told her that Melissa was helping me first. I wish they both could've gotten the credit. She was really nice and said no problem and got it ready for me. Melissa rang me up and to my surprise I also got 25% off due to Columbus Day. I wanted a Puma jacket too but unfortunately it didn't fall under the sale so I didn't get it. She also explained the loyalty program and now I'm a fan. The customer service here was great! I guess I went on a good day compared to some of the other reviews. I also want to mention, I was not dressed to impress. I had a bandana on with a baseball cap and I looked like I just took a hip hop class. I'll definitely be coming back and I recommend going to Melissa or the pretty brunette (I think she's Latin) that works to the left when you get off the escalator. read more

I want to shout out Daniel, the makeup artist at the Sisley counter at the South Coast Plaza Bloomingdales's. I needed a new look for spring -- and he delivered. My makeup is light and pretty and easy enough for me to replicate at home. I enthusiastically recommend that you let him work his magic on you. Just one caveat: Sisley is a very expensive line, so be prepared. I am, however, delighted with the results, and hope to save money in the long run by no longer spending money on worthless products that don't suit me at the drugstore (which I used to do regularly!). Bloomies defines the premium department store experience. More so than Macys or Nordstrom. I also find their buyers do a bit of a better job finding the nicer in fashion appealing clothes than their competitors. They do have many sales and don't feel bad about searching through their sale racks. They had some pretty good deals (just sizing and style is limited on the sale racks). I came here NYE and was shocked to see they were open till 8PM. I guess good if you need something for your NYE party or are doing a more quiet version like I was doing on New Year's Eve. Service was a bit spotty but. I was here later in the day so I can see the sales associates being more tired. Anyway I actually prefer it when you are not pestered or circled like a shark watching its prey. read more

This Bloomingdales has great sales and its right next to the Sephora! They have a great return policy and the staff has been super friendly most of the time. There have been occasions where I was upset from their customer service, but overall the staff is very helpful! They have a great return policy for all items, except dresses. I was able to return flats that I had worn a few times without any trouble. Also, they do free repairs for bags bought within a year. The leather of one of my Marc Jacobs bag tore off and the strap would no longer stay put so I brought it in the store worried that they would not do anything about it, but they fixed it for free! read more

I've never been a fan of Bloomingdales...mostly because i'm not in the salary range to afford any of their stuff, but today, I was on a mad hunt for some recommended parfums by my former Italian roomies. They sent me a list of the latest and greatest, and I was told to try Bloomingdales because its the most likely place that may carry it. I have been a fan of Flowerbomb since it came out and I came back to see what else is new here. They have the Flowerbomb OIL here, which is hard to find, and I was happy to know that the OIL bottle is HUGE, for the same price as the parfum...and that it smells almost better. Its a bit lighter, but since its an oil, and non alcohol based, it stays on your skin longer. I'm a fan. The girl at the parfum counter was helpful in helping me look for some hard to find scents (it lost a star because they didn't have more than half the stuff on my list) but she was good about telling me what deals I can get if I buy. I walked out with Flowerbomb oil, a bunch of small gift scents, and a new umbrella! I just wish they had L'artisan Parfumeur here...I'd spend some mad cash if they did. read more

My family is straight-up Bloomingdale's family. This is where we always shop and park our cars whenever we're in South Coast. I usually come here with my mom for the home goods and there's only one man that can actually help my mom and me out, Mike. He was an excellent sales rep to us and we don't trust anyone else but him. Mike would always go out of his way to give us the best shopping experience and he knows his merchandise well. He's the only sales rep in Bloomingdale's that I know by name because he's the only one I will go to. Clothing department is a bit of a toss up because you have the snobby younger girls that are not helpful at all and don't think you are worthy of their time. My tip is always go for the friendly faces of the older sales rep. They are more willing to help you. I hate going glasses or sunglasses shopping here. I've never had a good experience with this department. Always stuck up and unhelpful. Makeup department is one of the best to me. They have such a good variety of products as well as higher end merchandise I can't usually find at other stores. Jewelry and Handbags are again a toss up. Except for this department I would go for the younger crowd. It's weird. After going shopping here for a while you just get into the groove and you'll figure it out on your way. read more

I found this place very interesting, it was way to open making the store look empty. Then as i was walking to purchase a shirt realizing they have actual fox fur in their store. This is so disturbing and disgusting might as well put a photo up showing the cruel conditions these foxes face. I will never support a business that supports the fur trade. Yes Bloomindale's can be a little intimidating with it's overpriced items but when this store goes on sale . . . it is sooooo worth it!!! I love going to the Bloomies at South Coast compared to the one at Fashion Island, it's much bigger and there are way less snobby sales people. The sales people at the Costa Mesa store are really friendly and sometimes they even send you little thank you notes or reminders about sales in the mail after shopping there. The store is ginormous, super clean and super organized. I just finished my Christmas shopping there and I got Ted Baker shirts and Hugo Boss dress shirts for less than $35!!! I don't usually buy things here at retail price because I wait for all the sales. I also have a Bloomindale's card so that helps with the discounts even more. They send you "B Money" that you can use together with all sorts of discounts to save even more! People are usually under the impression that you'll spend an arm and a leg if you shop here but I've spent more money on clothes at stores like Kohl's for much crappier brands and even crappier quality. Just go here when there are sales and consider opening a Bloomindale's card if you're going to shop here. You'll be informed about "insider sales" and you'll get tons of coupons sent to you in the mail. read more

I'm a newbie Bloomies shopper. I must first admit that I fall into the category of broke college graduate, with a job that just covers my monthly food supply. I needed a new pair of shades and was getting sick and tired of spending a few bucks on cheap sunglasses from the mall that kept breaking on me. So, this week I broke out of my frugal way and decided to make an investment. No more yummies for my tummy, but I think I'll survive; I'll let y'all know. My review is for the Women's Sunglasses counter. There were 2 people working the floor that day. The girl was busy helping other customers and the guy was keeping himself busy = ignoring me. DAMN IT.. I hate when they do that, made me feel uneasy and wanna bitch-slap him and say "hey! help me out will ya?!" Yea, I gave four stars because when I finally got his attention = asked for his help; he gave me outstanding customer service. He was very attentive, helpful with suggestions, patient and tried to tailor to my needs. He wouldn't have guessed from first glance that I was a baller & ready to spend some of my Benjamins.. Boy, I walked out of Bloomies with dirty bloomies cause I ended up spending more than I planned. Hey, at least my eyes will be protected from UV rays. Never buy a time watch from them. Worst staff. Meen attitudes. My watch needed a simple repair which was under warranty less than one year old, they didnt approve it. Plus they call me to charge me 150 and when i got to the store they asked for 250. The lady there , supposed to be the manager, gives u ugly looks... FYI its a 1600 dollar watch! She tells me u didnt buy it from here until she finds out it was from there. She assumes ur lieing before she looks at the receipt. So disappointed Always pick Nordstrom instead. Last I recall Bloomingdale's was known for better service than places like Macy's. Well not the home department at South Coast Plaza - They are understaffed - they are basically understaffed everywhere except for cosmetics. The sales associates are rude, quite frankly cannot communicate and couldn't be less helpful. I literally asked for the price of an item 5 separate times and finally asked if I'm not phrasing my inquiry correctly, as I would like to know the price of the item I am interested in purchasing, at which point I received an eye roll and an answer. Their customer service is not what it used to be - I will not be shopping here again. read more

I like that this Bloomingdales has a large floor plan which offers several additional options of clothing, accessories, jewelry, men's, and home. The staff here have been friendly and helpful whenever I have stopped in to visit. This location carries a Lipsy London pop-up shop and an All Saints pop-up on the third floor. I'm more of a fan of the latter pop-up's clothing look but there are times where their clerks have treated me with icy reception. (Mainly its the type where they try to act above you.) What I also like is the fact that they carry high end designer shoe brands that sometimes go on sale with the middle brands like Cole Haan, Juicy Couture, and Miss Sixty. This Bloomingdales is where I purchased a pair of Chanel flats at a discounted price. The reason why I am only giving this Bloomingdales 4/5 stars is because of the Chanel boutique inside the store. This was the original location where I was planning to buy my 2.55 Chanel, but what deterred me were three things. One, I had interacted with a wonderful clerk who ended up leaving to work elsewhere and did not know who else to do business with. Two, another time when I was certain about buying my dream purse, I walked in during a sale time and the clerk who waited on me acted like I wasn't worth her time. Even though she scribbled the information on the purse I was looking at onto one of her cards, she seemed pretty haughty and even proceeded to act much nicer to another client who asked for her before acting cold to me again. Three, the stock there is almost always low on the classic Chanels. There is a ridiculous waiting list that people can go on for years to wait for a bag. What they happened to have in stock, seemed to always have scuffs or scratches on the leather despite it being a brand new purse. I will definitely be returning to this Bloomingdales but not for the Chanel boutique. read more

A few days ago I went to blooming dale which is located in the Costa Mesa south coast plaza and went to the beauty section to exchange blue Chanel fragrance with Dior . I went direct to Dior stand but there was only one person and she was busy with the client so I ask the next door which was LANCÔME stand to help me,unfortunately the lady in LANCÔME stand was very rude with me , she said me I couldn't do any exchange after a little talking I said her , my husband Didn't use this fragrance , he just didn't like it so I want to exchange with Dior, then she accepted but she did so many scratch on the return label of Dior fragrance, that manner was so rude, and made me sad. read more

Review is for the men's shoe department only: If my sweet son wants $300 John Varvatos boots for his 21st birthday, then Mommy's gonna make damn sure he gets them. He'd done his research and decided that the pair he wanted was here at Bloomingdale's. When we got there, Cage was our salesman. He was ULTRA helpful and really nice, got everything we needed out of the back as super speed. The best part was when checkout time came, he told us the sale started TOMORROW. Instead of being a usual commission sales guy, he recommended we schedule to pick up the next day so we'd get the sales price. He really saved me a bundle on these boots and I recommend anyone looking for fancy ass mens shoes go to him! read more
