Our Server Samara (I believe was her name she never introduced her self but had a gold chain with what I assume was her name) was very inexperienced and had a mouth on her, passive aggression is a poor trait in food service. We were a large group and she obviously could not handle a party that large and someone should have come in to help her. Food was very low quality. Street tacos were somewhat ok, but steak plates were over cooked, birria burnt and greasy, chips were horrendous and old, just not great food with subpar service. The Vibe of the place was off since we entered. The 20% grat is customary, I know, however, every place that does it warns patrons of it through their servers. SHE DID NOT and some of my family members ended up tipping on top of the mandatory grat. Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen, but this one is very low on quality and service.

The owner seems to have just given up on the restaurant aspect of this establishment completely, unless you're looking for a skeevy bar in the middle of nowhere this place just isn't going to anymore. The last time I went to Aurora's it was around breakfast time, I ordered 6 simple bean and cheese tacos to bring home to the family but I waited like 20 minutes. Mind you, the restaurant was completely empty save for like two people. I don't see any reason for it to take that long, I could make bean and cheese tacos faster at home. Waiting in this restaurant for 20 minutes was a pretty uncomfortable experience, nothing about it feels welcoming or comfy at all and the owner was giving me the stink eye the whole time, she seemed to not want customers in her restaurant. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I've given Texas Pride plenty of chances to impress me but they manage to fall short of my…read moreexpectations. First time I came here was in December 2010, years before I got my car. I took the 30 bus out here, almost a decade before Via service to St. Hedwig was eliminated. I always found the BBQ mid and not as good as Rudy's but better than Bill Miller's. I made the long drive out here the 2nd time when I got my car. Still not impressed. A year ago I came here to try their fish for their weekly fish fry on Fridays. I got 2 pieces of fish, 2 sides and a Dr Pepper but was disappointed with the size of the fish pieces. What's worse is the $20 price that I foolishly wasted when I could've gotten better fish from Laguna Madre and I don't even like that place. I mean who in their right mind goes to a BBQ place for fish? And the last time I came here wasn't any different. The brisket was dry and the sausage and turkey were mid. The creamed corn was ok and the pinto beans weren't hot enough. Oh and the last 2 times I ate here, they were out of my favorite item and the only good thing they serve here, the peach cobbler. Instead I got the banana pudding which was just like those crappy, pre-made banana pudding cups found at any roadside chain gas station/convenience store like Buc-ee's or The Texan. It is roomy and spacious inside and the seating consists of picnic tables designed for crowds of people and has live music on the weekends. When you pull up to the restaurant there's a storefront reminiscent of an old Western film with a 7up logo. Texas Pride is one of those overhyped and overrated BBQ joints that probably used to be good in its heyday which was probably back in the mid 90s to 2000s but then fell off drastically somewhere along the line. Do your appetite and wallet a favor and bypass TP BBQ and make the extra drive to La Vernia and go to Rabel's off FM 775 and FM 1346 and thank me later!

It's a bit hidden in a tire shop area, but don't let the surroundings appearance miss guide you. Because this place is a gem, the moment you enter you feel at home, and you can see a good amount of seating. But the most important thing to remember is the food. The food here is very well made, a home cooked meal is what you feel upon eating. I ordered the "Tampiqueña" and believe it was cooked just right. The dish came with a cheese enchilada, rice and beans which were equally delicious. You can't go wrong with this place. And what makes even more special is the people who work there, the most amazing and kind individuals. I highly recommend this place.

Don't like it, but I get it. I ordered the Asada fries and the Normitas Nachos. Both kids ordered their own burrito. We had Lemonade, a sweet tea, and a Mexican coke. Chips and salsa were served. The chips were a tad stale and the salsa could use a little more love (flavor). Everything we ordered tasted so good. The waitress was friendly and got our food out to us without any issues. But after that she came by maybe 2 more times then we never saw her after that. We got our own to-go boxes from the counter and just made our way to the register after waiting for her for a bit. I think I would want to go back to actually try the food whether it be for breakfast or lunch. But something other than the appetizers to get more of a taste of their regular menu items.
