Got together with family for breakfast. I was a first timer. Loved it! You order when you walk in. They have a breakfast menu, brunch and lunch menu. They also serve coffees both iced and hot with lots of flavors as well as matcha and teas. I had an iced cinnamon roll latte. So good! I also had the breakfast classic which included eggs, ham, potatoes and small pancakes. Also very good! They have seating both inside and outside. The inside is a little small but they have plenty of tables outside along side swinging benches and games such as a large connect four and cornhole boards. Service was great! We didn't have a specific server but everyone was attentive and helped us throughout our time dining there.

We tried this place out on a whim after Sunday service and it was PACKED! Don't let the long line deter you; it moved quickly and we were able to find a table outside with a lovely view of the country side. Our food was delivered to our table in a very timely manner and everything was delicious. I got a matcha lemonade and my food was awesome! (Avocado toast + key lime waffles *to share*) ... My husband's meal (brisket hash) was good but he definitely said my choices won. Check it out if you're in St. Hedwig! This was our first great dining experience outside of the city.

This place has the views and vibes! I went with my family to have breakfast on the weekend. We all got a coffee and some pancakes. The pancakes were very good tasted just like when grandma would make them they also had some cool games for all the families to enjoy. The staff were very welcoming which made the place even better.

This is our favorite hidden gem for breakfast or brunch. Amazing food and excellent service. The staff always make you feel like family. Their outside patio is furry friendly as well. Don't let the long line or full parking lot scare you away...From their coffee to their pastries it's all delicious!

Have been customers of the Blockhouse for years. Noticed today that while the prices remain steady, the serving sizes have gotten much smaller. The size of a latte cup has shrunk. See photo. Biscuits and gravy don't have enough gravy. When we asked for more, we were charged for a side. Omelette size has also shrunk! Disappointed in the recent changes. $60 for three small meals. Ouch!

Great way to start 2025. My first time to St Hedwig and this adorable place, but definitely not my last. We started with lemon blueberry bread, because breakfast should always have an appetizer. It was perfection on its own, but even better with coffee. I got the huge breakfast sandwich, which was served on a sturdy toast with thick, crispy bacon, cheese, and an egg that broke when I cut into it; so, so delicious! I also got the brisket hash to go for my folks who raved about it. The service was amazing, always someone asking if we needed anything. Can't wait to try their lunch out in the back!

I was told about this place thru a mutual friend. Maria and decided to go and check it out. I also invited my family, cause they are lasting we don't invite them. We got to this restaurant and noticed they have plenty of parking and a drive thru. They have two entrances, front and back. The back has a patio, which is nice. Games and a swing to chill on. The back patio has about 6-8 tables. Once you get in, you'll have to go to the counter to grab a menu and place your order there. The line does get long sometimes. After you order and pay, you'll get a number, find a table and the employees will bring your drinks and food. I got the brisket hash with two eggs on top. A London fog tea. Very delicious. Maria got the classic breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and a biscuit. Also a coffee. We've been here twice now, and will continue to come. We want to come for lunch one day. Service is great, plenty of employees around cleaning and asking if we are good.

Cute brunch spot tucked away in the country. As soon as we pulled up all I could smell was warm maple syrup. The smell obviously influenced my choice that morning as I got the pecan pancakes. Every one at our table lived their meal. This place is delicious, spacious, and eventful. There is a nice outside seating area as well as tables inside. I can't Waite to come back!

Absolutely love this place! Found this gem one day driving through the outskirts of 1604. Me and my husband have breakfast here every weekend! Yes! Every weekend! lol we never get tired of the food! They have weekly and daily specials. The food is ALWAYS good! Service is amazing! Restaurant is a little small inside but they do have outdoor seating. Definitely my favorite place in San Antonio! Side note this is also one of the many restaurants I've been to that has both pancakes and waffles! Other places only have one or the other. Thought it was worth a mention since my kids love waffle and love pancakes!

Awesome food, only reason why it's not 5 stars for me is the way the service is setup. Not a fan paying and tipping before actually receiving service. Prime example was last week my father in law wanted orange juice after we sat down and it never came and the waitress also said we had to get back up and go pay for it. I live about 5 miles away so it is close. Food is good, eaten several of the options , however gravy is like water and jelly is the same. Just thicken these two up and everything will be awesome! I eat here often so hope your fix these two things read more

I HAD high hopes for this establishment. I recently visited and thought it would be great to bring the family over the weekend. While the first visit went great, the second showed their level of care towards paying customers. When we asked if we could get the clearly over done biscuit swapped out for one NOT burnt the server said yes and took it to the back kitchen. Moments later the manager or whoever was running the show brought out the same plate, burnt biscuit and all to our table. With a raised voiced she asked "what's wrong with this"? Responding again politely I said we would just like one that doesn't not taste burnt. Refusing to offer to make it right. I was truly shocked that this just happened. I went from telling everyone that they needed to come try this place to don't even think of going there. I, nor will any of my family be returning to support this place. Customer service and care will always out perform the level of food you produce. Blockhouse you lost my support and I will make sure to let everyone know. It's time for management training. read more

My first visit here was at lunch and it was amazing! So happy to have this new place in our area. It's cute, clean and the service was outstanding. We had the chicken fried steak with eggs breakfast, the cubano sandwich and the fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese sauce. That sauce was so good!!!! I was dipping my house made potato chips in it. Yumm! The end were perfectly cooked to over medium as my mom requested. The steak was thick and meaty but so tender with the perfect amount of batter. The gravy is flavorful with delicious bits of sausage. The Cubano was perfectly toasted with a great amount of meat and awesome house made pickles. I can't wait to go back and try out some pastries and hand crafted coffees as well! They offer a drive thru window and curbside pickup in addition to the socially distanced and clean dine in service. This is just one of those diners you should feel sorry for passing up. The only problem is, it's such a hole in the wall you won't even know you've passed it! Very cute place. The outside is very fun! I got fried green tomatoes and the jalapeno chicken and waffles. They need some seasoning!!! The jalapenos were just placed on the chicken and waffles. The chicken had no spice at all. The waffles were fine. The tomatoes could've used some salt and pepper. read more

We had a great breakfast experience. I ordered the blueberry waffle, it was light and fluffy with a buttery crisp bite #Delicious. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast plate, this was the star of the show! In Texas, chicken fried steak is a restaurant staple and everyone claims to have the best. Well the Blockhouse doesn't make the claim but damn it this is the best chicken fried steak I've ever had, and trust me, I've had a ton! #HighlyRecommend read more

I got the chicken friend steak sandwich and the steak was so small, that when I finished the the steak half of the bread was left. The service was ok, the servers seemed like they were in a bad mood. And there flies everywhere even for an indoor restaurant. read more

Coffee was cold and late. To go food took over 30 mins..honey butter chicken biscuits were sour and too strong of a flavor for AM or brunch. Bread was soaked in butter.. took it to go was very messy. No silverware or napkins packed. Waffelwich was bland.. potatoes tasted old and sweet? and had no salt. Restraunt was busy for a Thursday at 9am. read more

We decided to try this place as we live in the area and heard good things about it. You order and pay when you walk in. I am not a fan of this type of service as you are encouraged to tip prior to service. I ordered the omelette with tomato, apple smoked bacon, spinach and goat cheese with a side of salsa. It was absolutely delicious! 5 stars to the cook! My husband ordered pancakes and had the home fries from my order. He stated the pancakes were good, but home fries were excellent! He said the seasoning on them was what made them taste so good. The service was okay. I had to ask for salsa 4 times and ketchup 3 times before they made their way to the table. This is a new place, so I will give them grace as they are working out the kinks with their service. Our total bill was $18 for 2 entrees and water. We will definitely be back. read more

It came in a small, clear cup with lid and spoon which made it great for eating right away and then saving the rest for later without having to search for containers to store it in. It reminds me of the ice cream cups that used to come with the small wooden "spoon".

I had a great time at Blockhouse! It's a very cute restaurant set on lovely land, with beautiful view and peaceful outdoor seating. The service was excellent everyone was friendly and very attentive. Inside, they had a small section of items for sale and even a sign offering blankets during your stay (which I thought was unique). The place gives off a cozy, homey vibe, perfect for studying or bringing your family to hang out. I was able to try the Chicken Tenders, Brisket Breakfast Plate, Steak Sandwich, and Pozole Rojo (a special). The chicken tenders and fries were good crispy and served hot. The brisket was also delicious and something I would order again, though that plate and the pozole came out a bit cold, which was a bit disappointing. The pozole rojo didn't quite hit for me, but I'm glad I got to try several items on the menu. The steak sandwich was simple and plain not bad, but it didn't particularly stand out. On the sweeter side, I tried a butter pecan cake and an almond croissant, and both were phenomenal. Overall, I really enjoyed this restaurant and will definitely be returning. I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu, there are plenty of options that looked delicious. Thank you for a lovely meal! read more

I would strongly recommend this restaurant. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. It was my first visit, and they took the time to explain everything to me with smiles. All the employees appeared happy to be there. The atmosphere was pleasant, and for me, that contributed to the enjoyment of the food. I had a few seasoning issues with the fried potatoes, which I found a bit too salty, but they were still tasty. The beef fried steak was delicious. It's made with Angus beef, which I found very impressive. It truly tasted like beef. The restaurant was very clean, and it was enjoyable to be there. The dessert menu also caught my eye, featuring a variety of homemade options that looked irresistible. I decided to try the blueberry crumb cake, and it was the perfect ending to a delightful breakfast, brunch meal. Each bite was rich and indulgent, leaving me wanting more. Absolutely, love this place! We take everyone here. It is so much fun to bring our dogs or ride our bikes in and hang on the patio. They have rotating seasonal menu and drinks as well as a consistent one. So it's always fun getting "the usual" or trying fun new things. Staff is ALWAYS so friendly. A great family place. They also have a drive through. read more
