Half Jalepeno crunchy turkey with a cup of chicken tortilla soup,a pickle spear and half sweet tea with lemonade.

Food was tasty, service was quick and the restaurant was clean. I would return for lunch. Lunch specials are around $11 plus tax

My to-go club sandwich with tortilla soup!

I've been to this location before so surprised at service here today. Food was good as usual. However, food took so long in coming out I had to ask for a to-go container because I simply couldn't stay any longer. I think they were just short staffed. But the person working the register just kept smiling and kept her composure despite the long line and dealing with to-go orders. Kudos to her!

    Spud Max

The service was good. The potato was terrible. I ordered the Spud max minus ham and there was nothing "max" about this spud. Definitely didn't look anything like menu which I never really expected it to but this was laughable. I also ended up picking out the processed "turkey" pieces.

My husband and I went to this restaurant yesterday and the items that were bought are: 1. French Dip 12"(Dry and tasted stale), Fresh Fruit (Pineapple, Honeydew, and Cantaloupe (?), but, it was kinda hard and sour). 2. Angus King Club w/ Pepper Jack Cheese 3. Smores Cookie (receipt says Smores but, the lady said it was a Snickerdoodle). 4. Chocolate Chip Cookie 5. Large (Lemonade & Unsweet Tea w/ Black Cherry syrup). It's so hard to think that the sandwiches were not good because, we go there a few times within a month or so, and we've loved the food in the past but, from what we ordered last night, we are having a hard time thinking if we're going back to this location. I also checked the bag with the items in it, and they made a mistake by not including the French Dip sandwich until I said something. Thank goodness, I looked into the bag. We didn't even finish our food because, it didn't taste good and the fruit I paid $0.70 extra for tasted stale and was hard to chew (kinda like it was unripe, and the pineapple was sour). Our bill was $46.65 and it was already expensive for two sandwiches that didn't taste well at all.

McAllister club & McAlister's Club Wrap

Placed an order to go and this is what we got. No sauce. No pickle. Wrong chips. Wrap looks like it was smashed even wrapper was open.

She knew portion sizes, flavor profiles, and made sure we were happy with food selections. Ambiance: place is trendy. Decor was really nice and the place felt welcoming. My spouse and I could converse in a regular level and never felt as if we needed to shout to be heard. Food: Delicious! We opted for the 7 course prefix meal and it didn't disappoint. We added the shrimp and Brussels sprouts appetizer (which we took home). As this was our first time, we don't realize they had different menus. Everything we had was phenomenal. We will be back. But once we sat down, it made sense. Everything is made to order, and you can taste the difference. There was only one server handling the entire floor, and when a rush hit all at once, it definitely got busy fast. But here's the thing... she handled it with grace. Even when you could tell she was juggling a lot, she stayed attentive, kind, and kept checking in on us. That kind of effort deserves recognition. Now let's talk about the real star of the show... The Texas French Toast. Oh. My. Goodness. Thick, golden, perfectly cooked slices topped with homemade whipped cream and fresh berries that tasted like they were picked that morning. It wasn't just good, it was indulgent in the best way. Sweet without being overwhelming. Rich but balanced. I couldn't even finish it (which says a lot), and happily boxed the rest up. The only regret? I ate all the berries first. Rookie mistake. My husband ordered one of the hash plates and said it was solid comfort food... hearty, flavorful, and filling. He couldn't finish his either, so I'm definitely sneaking a few bites later. Overall, we left impressed. The food feels intentional. The flavors feel thoughtful. It's the kind of local spot you want to root for. And the fact that they serve pork lumpia for lunch? Say less. We'll be back for that. If you're looking for a cozy, made-from-scratch brunch spot in Universal City, this one is worth the wait. Good food takes time, and this place proves it. ***This review is based on my taste buds. Both dishes were overwhelmingly salty, and the salt overpowered the flavors of each entrée. The biscuit served with the eggs bene was dry, and the ham on my eggs benedict tasted like cheap lunch meat, which was really underwhelming for a dish like this. While the eggs themselves were cooked well, I couldn't help but wonder, where was the Hollandaise sauce? The key part of the dish was missing. The pulled pork biscuit was tasty, but again - it was overly salty.

AH. WANTED TO LOVE IT, DIDN'T END UP EVEN LIKING IT. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE THOUGH!…read more Service: 4/5 It looked like a one man show- I can appreciate that. The man who I assume could be the owner, was a server, cashier, and the cleaning crew. Haha. He looked a bit serious but he was very kind. Food: 2/5 I hate to admit it, but just like some of the lower reviews said- the food was so bland. I mean, not a taste of seasoning. I ordered a chicken fried biscuit with gravy, and it came with potatoes. My sister ordered a bacon croissant. I'll start off with mine. They did give me a rather large hunk of chicken; the batter slid right off and the chicken itself was tasteless, I do mean absolutely tasteless :( The biscuit was so dry, and crumbly. Possibly day old? Not sure. I slapped some of their homemade jam (Now that jam was wonderful! ) however they don't give too much of anything (butter, gravy, jam) so I do feel the sandwich would be better if it was maybe made smaller? I'm not sure. It was just a huge biscuit with nothing to slather it with. The gravy portion is really not fair, lol. Since the biscuit was super dry and again SUPER bland, I do feel they should make the gravy a bigger portion. My sister said her bacon croissant "was nothing special. I could've made it at home." I also want to throw out there that their drinks also need some help. I ordered a strawberry lemonade, my sister did a "freshly brewed tea" ah. The tea was bitter as heck and the lemonade tasted like it was pure strawberry syrup. :( Price: 2/5 I spent $30.00 on two plates, that Indeed we could've just made at home for 1/3 of the price. I know food is at an all time high right now, but this meal was not worth my hard earned money. We couldn't find one thing we actually enjoyed about it. Overall: 1/5. I hate to be honest because I really want to see small shops thrive; whenever I go to a restaurant I ask myself "Would you come back?" And the answer for Happy Cafe is absolutely not. The food, the atmosphere, the drinks, everything was just not for us. The restaurant itself needs some deep cleaning, an upgraded menu, and maybe some new tables (ours were peeling and super sticky) however, if I'm being honest I can get past that- but I simply will not return due to the food. As some of the others said, I don't know how this place is so highly rated (love that for them) but it just wasn't for me and my family, maybe it will be for yours.

Hawaii local food is that old school plantation days multicultural mix. Japanese, Filipino, Portuguese influences and more, all blended by Hawaii's cultures. Not strictly indigenous Hawaiian food. The vibe was lively and welcoming, with that busy pre-Mother's Day energy throughout the restaurant. The decor has a casual American grill feel with lots of quirky items hanging on the wall, and a fun atmosphere that works well for families. Even though we were exhausted and starving, the environment made it easy to relax and enjoy the evening. Unfortunately, we were so hungry that I forgot to take photos of the food. I ordered the flat iron steak salad with broccolini. The salad itself was fresh and enjoyable, but the steak and broccolini were both pretty bland. The steak was ordered medium, but came out more well-done on the ends and medium only in the center. It really could have used more seasoning, some aromatics, and maybe a finishing pat of butter to bring out the flavor. Next time, I'll probably order Lt. Dan's Grilled Shrimp instead. My dad ordered it, and it was seasoned much better and looked like the stronger dish overall. Our server was friendly, attentive, and did a great job keeping up with the busy crowd. I've been here a few times over the years, and while the food hasn't always been the most consistent for me, my son loves this place, so we usually end up coming back whenever we're in town.
