Service was quick, friendly & professional. Quality and taste and temperature were all perfect! Another great Blaze experience!

Blaze Pizza's Spicy & Sweet Collection Menu
    Mark D.

I would drive by Blaze Pizza and think it was just another "dime a dozen" pizza place, but I was pleasantly surprised after trying it. My friend invited me to eat here recently and try their new Spicy & Sweet Collection Menu. We ordered the Spicy Cheesy Bread with Spicy Chili Oil Drizzle for an appetizer and a Spicy Pepperoni Pizza with Sweet Hot Honey Drizzle. Being a spicy-food lover, I was well pleased with our selections. A critique I have of pizza places is their overly greasy bread, but Blaze Pizza's bread was lighter and airier than I expected. The spicy items made for some zesty and flavorful creations. The staff were very helpful and wanted to make sure we took their super-brief survey to get free desserts during our visit. I got the S'mores Cookie, which wasn't half bad. The atmosphere was comfortable and casual as is needed with a counter-service restaurant like this. All in all, I agree with the current overall reviewer consensus of this being a 4 star big-chain pizzeria. I will definitely be trying Blaze Pizza again in the future.

Two 11 inch pizzas one is double crust and the other is regular thin

I have started going here regularly. It is a great bargain when you get the build your own pizza due to the selection of premium toppings. Like Subway or Chipotle, the pizza is assembled as you pick the ingredients, then cooked in a fire oven. My 11 inch pizza would have been $20 at a different restaurant. I got thin crust, tomato sauce, chicken, goat cheese, mozzarella cheese, spinach, roasted garlic cloves, fresh mushrooms, and after cooking I asked for hot honey drizzle. I gobbled up the entire thing. My guy uses this pizza for his low carb diet cheat meal once a week. His has a lot of meats, ovalini mozzarella, and mushrooms on the double crust (thick and puffy but not like pan pizza). They also have some good salads and cheesy bread. The dining room is pretty basic but clean and well decorated. I hope they keep with this same format and pricing.

A friend of mine discovered Blaze Pizza on his day off when he was in the area and invited me to go with him on another day to try it out. Thin crust pizza was not unknown to me. When I lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, I had my first thin crust pizza from a chain from England; and in Boston, another from a chain from California. So I was eager to go try out this new pizza place in Roanoke, Virginia. When we arrived at the place I liked the modern decor of the place which was very clean and organized. The ordering of the pizza was in the style of Chipotle, where you walk in line and ask for the items you want added to your burrito; in this case to your pizza. We were greeted by very friendly staff behind the counter, who took your order and went with the pizza dough on the pizza pan adding the ingredients you ask for or the ones corresponding to the pizza you ordered. I ordered the Signature Meat Lovers Pizza and my friend the White Top. It was nice to watch as the pizzas were being made before your eyes. I asks to see if they could include some mushrooms and they graciously complied. Then another staff picked it up and put it in the over to cook while we went to serve our drinks and table, where we waited for the pizza to be ready. The atmosphere of the place felt nice, clean, and relaxed. The pizza cook brought the pizzas to our table as soon as they were ready. This gave a nice touch to the serving of the pizzas. He was also very friendly and hospitable. The fresh ingredients of which the dough and pizzas were made, made the pizza taste delicious. And it was a pleasant change to the regular pizzas served at most pizza shops. For dessert we ordered the S'more Pie. And this was a disappointment because it was lukewarm, dry, hard, and tasteless. This was the main reason I only gave this restaurant four stars. For me, the Dessert is a very special part of a great dining experience. If the management can improve on this, I would definitely recommend this place for when you want to try a different type of pizza served by a wonderful staff, in a clean and comfortable place.

I will start with this: the staff and food were incredible -- except the manager. He openly screamed at the employees who were very obviously working hard and as efficiently as possible, all while being kind and courteous to the customers. He had made the base of my pizza (it works like a Subway / Chipotle), and only put a couple pieces of grilled chicken on the entire pizza. She asked if I wanted chicken and I said yes and she added more, to the amount a normal pizza would be, and he said she should never do that and always do the absolute bare minimum for the customers because he's trying to make as much money as possible... all while standing in front of an entire row of customers. This would definitely be a 5 star experience without him, as every other person went above and beyond.

I added vegan Parmesan at home - this one had less than half the toppings that I ordered
    Emily D.

The best vegan cheese ever!!! I loveeee making Mediterranean style pizzas there. The crust is perfect, the ingredients are fresh, and it tastes so flavorful. HUGE CON: they forget ingredients I order every time I get it from them. Half of the toppings are usually missing, and on top of that, they have yet to remember to top it with the arugula and balsamic that I order for it. It's always disappointing. It still tastes great, but how can they mess it up 3 times in row? I hope they improve. So DELICIOUS, but horrible accuracy

This place is wonderful all around. The staff is friendly and very attentive to the customers. For anyone who has never heard of the Blaze Pizza chain, it is similar in style to Chipotle or Cava where you can build your food to your preference and see the ingredients they add to your pizza or salad as you go down the line. We ordered cheesy bread, a meat eater pizza, white top pizza, a custom pizza, and a side salad. The cheese bread was amazing, perfectly seasoned and cooked with just the right amount of cheese for a cheese pull. You can get extra marinara sauce free of charge so I strongly suggest that if you like to drown your bread as I do! The pizzas (11") were the perfect size for a personal pizza with the crust being super thin but stable enough to hold all the toppings together. The side salad was great and filling - they used very fresh ingredients! Inside and outside seating was very clean and they have high chairs for toddlers if you want to bring the kiddos while dining in. We have been on the hunt for a pizza place that doesn't leave us with many leftovers but still lets you customize your food without breaking the bank and I'm so happy to say we found it here. We'll definitely be back for more!

A family-owned restaurant that has been serving locals, travelers, and late-night crowds from its classic 10-stool lunch counter since 1930, and continues to be strictly cash-only. A restaurant that has never been remodeled and whose menu has never been expanded, but that in this lies its real charm. A restaurant that despite economic hardship, tries never to raise prices and remain affordable. A restaurant that many people go to it because of their food, others because of their prices, and others like me this morning, because of the experience to sit at its counter and appreciate its character and charm while enjoying a classic breakfast of three fried eggs over easy with bacon and white toast basted with butter. That restaurant was and continues to be the iconic Texas Tavern, located in the heart of Downtown Roanoke. This morning I drove my pearl white Lexus up to it and parked in front of the sidewalk at the parallel parking with a one-hour limit. There is so much history behind this place that the excitement of the moment made the breakfast experience more momentous. Once inside, a young gentleman who has been working there for over two years now greeted me and immediately made me feel at home. He took my order and almost at the same time started making my toast and frying my eggs. In no time at all I had my order in front of me. I noticed and made him aware that one egg was missing. He made it right by frying me another egg over easy and I didn't mind because of his positive attitude and very unique personality. He also asked me how I'd like my coffee and prepared it just as requested with two creams and three sugars. Every one of the three eggs were perfectly fried over easy and I sprinkled a salt and pepper mixture over them. The bread of the toast was so fresh and tasty braised in butter. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the high-quality of their food. I'm looking forward to returning one day at lunch time to taste some of their menu items of which they are known for. Starting with their Cheesy Western, the tavern legendary trademark burger served with a fried egg, cheese, pickles, and a sweet-and-tangy homemade cabbage relish. Or maybe a bowl of their secret-recipe chili served with onions. Or their trademark hot dog served Coney Island-style with chili, relish, mustard, and unions. All comfort food that make you feel good and bring a sense of nostalgia, warmth, and satisfaction. I highly recommend this small, historic, eatery for a one-of-a-kind, memorable, dining experience. So let's start with the food. First off, NOWHERE on the menu does it say that the chicken is a sandwich. I opened the box and there was something wrapped in tin foil and when I opened it, it was a chicken sandwich with some kind of sauce and pickles. I HATE pickles. So GROSS!!! It also looked like the sauce was a mix of bbq and Mayo. Gross!! And let's talk about the size of the chicken.....the bun was one of those small burger buns you get from the store and the chicken was SMALLER than the damn bun!!!! It didn't even stick out!!! Like WTF?????? If I'm gonna pay for food I expect to get food. I sat there for a few minutes just looking at it cause I felt like I had been scammed and finally I go back up to the counter. I asked the guy if this is a normal sized piece of chicken and he tells me it depends which piece you get. What the actual heck???? I also told him that NOWHERE on the menu does it say it's a sandwich and he says "You thought it was a piece of chicken?". Yes, I did think that. He then went and had them make me another piece of chicken (same small size as the first) so that I had a little more. Tho there was BBQ sauce on it, this chicken had zero flavor. I never had a hush puppy before and it was kinda bleh. Fried crap if you ask me. And the onion rings tasted kinda mushy so definitely NOT good. The ONLY good thing was the shake. I got the chocolate Oreo peanut butter flavor and that was definitely worth the extra money. Would happily pay for another shake but 100% feel like I wasted money on the food. Probably not going back even tho they do have other things. I just don't feel like anything else would be worth it. And the portion size is NOT OK!! 100% never going back to this location.

And a few people were dining inside as well. I noticed that the windows and the glass door were very clean, and this fact gave a nice first impression of the restaurant. Once inside, I noticed the cleanliness of the place and contemporary, comfortable furniture: booths as well as tables and chairs. The color combination of gold and black made the place look elegant yet relaxed. The decor was minimalist with a wide screen color TV and a few signs decorating the walls, and a nice lighting treatment that came down from the black ceiling above. When I arrived to the ordering counter, I noticed all the employees were working very motivated and with a purpose, all doing their assigned duties enthusiastically. A young lady up front greeted and welcomed me with a smile and seemed very happy to hear that this was my first time here. She gave me some time to review the menu that was placed where all fast food restaurants have them. I ordered the Zaxseas Surf & Turf combo, and a Chocolate Chip Cookie for dessert. The order was efficiently taken and I paid with my credit card. It contained 3 Chicken Fingerz, 8 Shrimp with Zaxtail sauce, Texas Toast, Crinkkle fries, and a small drink of Dr. Pepper. Everything in the order came out so fresh and hot. The Chicken Fingerz were crunchy in the outside and juicy and tender in the inside. Same with the Shrimp. The Fries were also very well fried and freshly served. And the sauces were amazingly delicious. As I was leaving, I saw who seemed to be the manager seated at a table interviewing a young lady. Burger King was founded in 1954 in Miami, Florida by franchisees James McLamore and David Edgerton…read more In 1957 McLamore created and introduced their signature flame-broiled Whopper, which was designed to be bigger and more distinct than competitors' standard burgers. And throughout all these years the brand and it flagship burger have not only survived but strived to the point of becoming the second-largest fast-food hamburger chain globally, operating under parent company Restaurant Brands International. Most of us were probably not aware of this information but do remember the very first time we had a Whopper and how we looked forward for the weekend to arrive to go with our parents to visit The Home of the Whopper. And enjoy eating this gigantic and flavorful burger which was called "The Whopper." Today, I still look forward to having a Whopper, have the Burger King app downloaded on my cellphone, and am a member of their Royal Perks Program. But somehow I find that the iconic Whopper has lost its mystic. The size has diminished. It no longer is staked high. And we no longer have it our way. I'm so glad Tom Curtis, President of Burger King has also recognized this and is doing what is necessary to make the iconic Whopper great again. He is modernizing the restaurant's decor, making quality team training a priority, and once again allowing us to have the Whopper our way. Just like it used to be in the good old days. Today I decided to take advantage of an offer from my app for an $8.99 Whopper Meal, by visiting this Burger King located at 2626 Franklin Rd in Southwest Roanoke. I arrived in my pearl white Lexus to their large parking lot. Their parking lot sign had the new logo but the sign itself wasn't modernized. Hardly any landscaping surrounded the building. Inside, the restaurant had been remodeled somewhat, however nothing spectacular, and they were using the dining room up front as a storage room, creating a feeling of not valuing its customers that much. At the ordering counter two of the employees greeted me and took my order. It was quickly prepared and placed on the counter. The manager asked me if I wanted any ketchup and placed some packets on the tray after I answered in the affirmative. Once I got my ice and Coke from the softdrink machine, I took the tray to one of the tables. The fries look good and even better after I poured some ketchup over them. The Whopper's bread was fresh and even though it was wrapped and not placed in a box, it was not squished. Inside it had fresh ingredients, however in very small quantity. It only had one slice of a very small tomato, very little lettuce, two slices of pickles and no onions at all. I had to pour some ketchup on it. It tasted good with the lack of items I mentioned but it wasn't as satisfying. The feeling of being full and satisfied just wasn't there. The "You Rule" logo that was written on the employees t-shirts just was all words and no substance. Don't get me wrong, it tasted good, but it lacked substance. The definition of a whopper is: "Something usually large: An extraordinary large or impressive example of its kind." "The Burger King Whopper is the flagship hamburger of the Burger King fast-food chain, famous for it size." If there is something that needs to improve is not minimize the amount of ingredients the Whopper should have. Hopefully management and corporate read this review and does what needs to be done so we can eat like a King once again in this restaurant as like in many others that have changed for the better.

Yet never in my wildest dream would I have imagined that it was designed by a kid, the nephew of the owner. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Subshack in Salem, Virginia, is the perfect example. After arriving to this Sub Shop located in a small strip mall in the middle of nowhere, in Salem, Virginia, the friendly owner of the place, who has a wonderful personality, gave me a warm welcome and immediately, in a nutshell, told me the story of how this place came to be. Born and raised in New York and having lived for many years in North Carolina, the opportunity of opening up this business here in Salem, Virginia came up and he literally went for it. And aren't we lucky he did because it is an ingenious little Sub Shop, a product of two persons who let their imagination run wild and then worked hard to see their dream of owning a little restaurant come true. And don't be confused by its name, it simply means a small place where large Subs are made for people to savor and enjoy. Thus we have: the "SUBSHACK." This restaurant is mostly for orders To-Go, yet outdoor, in front, it has a picnic table, for customers who would enjoy eating there during the warm Seasons of the year. They bake their own Sub bread in-house daily, and also have daily Specials. Today's Special was: "BUY ANY LARGE SUB GET A FREE DRINK & CHIPS." So I ordered their large Italian Sub. The Sub bread was gigantic and their Deli meats were also quality and huge. On top of this there was a large list of ingredients you could add to the Sub. I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review and see for yourselves. Besides Hot and Cold Subs, they also serve Paninis, Desserts, and Milkshakes and Smoothies. I can't wait to return and try their Cuban Panini. In conclusion I definitely recommend this Sub place as a very unique place if you're looking for good food, prepared in a welcoming and friendly environment, by a warm and kindhearted individual.

There are so many Sub restaurants out there, weather they be independent businesses or chains…read more Today I decided to try out the Firehouse Subs located at the Towers Shopping Center in Roanoke, Virginia. Before entering this restaurant I reflected on "What is the main mission of a restaurant?" I concluded that It is "To serve great food, in a casual, relaxed environment by friendly and knowledgeable people at a fair price." As I entered the restaurant, I noticed how clean and organized it was and how besides the food, the decor focus was on local firefighters with framed photographs all around the restaurant and a large artwork reflecting on the Hotel Roanoke Fire on July 1st 1898. The menu was displayed in a large sign on the wall behind and on the counter, explaining the steps to go about in ordering your food here, and very well illustrated: Choose your bread. Choose your size. Hot Specialty Subs. Build your own Sub. Salads. Sides. Make it a Combo. Kids' Combos. Extras. Just as I was feeling comfortable with the easy ordering process and with the appetizing selection of Subs, I am warmly greeted by whom seems to be the manager of the restaurant and who takes my order. I ended up ordering the Firehouse Steak & Cheese, with white bread, in the large size; and finshed making it a Combo. I was ringed up and paid with a credit card. Then giving a cup and went to get my soft drink as one of the employees prepared my Sub with my instructions on what I wanted on it. The soft drink machine was modern and very impressive. One could chose a particular brand drink or make it a combination of brands.. The only other restaurant that I had ever seen a soft drink machine as this one was at Moe's Southwest Grill. I ended up making an Iced Cherry Dr. Pepper. When my Sub was ready, I was called to the counter to get my Sub which was placed on a paper over a red tray, and asked to pick up my Chips side from the shelves in front of the counter. The first thing I noticed was how fresh and soft the bread was, the reasonable amount of meat inside, and the quality melted cheese. As I was eating, a friend of my entered the restaurant, made his order. And joined me at my table. He also was very impressed with the quality of his Medium Italian Sub. What an amazing Sub dining experience. Right then and there I looked forward to returning to try out another of the Subs from their menu. I highly recommend this place and can assure you won't be disappointed by doing so. On the contrary, you will probably make this restaurant one of your favorites, just as I did.

The people are great and so are the employees, but the food itself just isn't. The bread is almost stale and kind of tastes like they keep it in a freezer. Same with the meat, just slimey and gross. Bad quality all around. I like their mission, and that is was founded by fireman... but they do need to up the food quality a bit with their pricing. But I do understand in this economy. Just wouldn't be my pick of a sandwich place.
