Sandwiches were toasted perfectly and the ingredients were so fresh! Tomato basil soup was creamy and chicken farrow just comforted my soul. The sandwiches for me were big and filling! A few dishes worth calling out specifically: the Tea Leaf Salad, Sesame Chicken, Coconut Rice, and the Pad Thai. Haven't been able to get to anything else on return trips. One note if you're a heat seeker -- the Pad Thai doesn't get very spicy, even when requested. I like extreme heat, so factor that in accordingly. Most people will find it perfectly seasoned. On my last visit I tried the black rice pudding with ice cream. Don't skip it if dessert is on your radar. Dogs are welcome on the patio, which is a great perk. One thing to be aware of: the gate can be a little tricky to navigate -- something to keep in mind if you or anyone in your group has mobility challenges. My Burma has my business. Highly recommend.

They felt slightly overcooked and not as soft or buttery as I was hoping for. I really think they could have added more butter or richness to bring the dish together. The wait was also pretty long, and for me, it did not feel worth it in the end. The overall style reminds me a bit of Crepeville, but with a more modern look. That being said, I would personally rather spend my money at Crepeville and get better quality food. Overall, the atmosphere is really sweet and enjoyable, but the food just did not hit for me this time. Maybe I did not order the right thing, so I might be open to trying it again, but based on this visit, I was not fully impressed.

Overall, I am really glad I gave this place a second chance because it completely changed my perspective. If you are unsure about raw fish like I was, I definitely recommend trying it here.

Once we both walked in the manager (around 6'2", beard), from behind the counter told us very abruptly: "If you want to order anything it has to be to go, because we close in 10 minutes. If you want fries, order them now because they take 10 minutes to make." The way this was communicated was not professional or welcoming--it came across as rude and dismissive. There was no greeting, just a sharp directive. Despite this, we went ahead and placed a to‑go order for a tri‑tip sandwich and a Greek salad and paid. I completely understand that businesses have closing times and need to clean and wrap up for the night. That's reasonable. What's not reasonable is speaking to long‑time customers, or any customer, in such an unkind, abrupt manner. A little courtesy goes a long way. Because of this experience, we won't be returning. There are plenty of other local options in Davis that will take our money, while valueing and respecting their customers, regardless of when they walk through the door.

But that should not distract from the yummy Mediterranean food that you can find at Shah's. It's totally worth the hassle with finding a place to park. The interior is on a smaller side, only few tables inside, and the ordering is at the counter. Pick an option from the menu-either a wrap or platter-and the friendly staff will make it in front of you. You just add stuff to it as you go. Think of it as a Middle Eastern Subway or a Chipotle. For the meat options they offer chicken or lamb, but there is also falafel and fish options for those with different dietary needs. We tried both the chicken and lamb, in gyro and platter form. The portions at Shah's are very generous and you can make it even more filling by adding more condiments and toppings to it. Warning: the spicy sauce is actually spicy, not "American spicy", so take that into mind when ordering. I also noticed Shah's also carries burgers and sides such as fries or chicken nuggets, but we did not try that on this visit. For filling and quick meal, Shah's is (still) one of the best options in town. It is great that they're open late and now have a brick-and-mortar presence, so we don't have to wonder where the truck will be parked.
