This location always has a welcoming and warm vibe to it and is always generous with toppings. I appreciate that they always ask if they could add more while building the pizza. I tried their gluten free crust with their garlic pesto sauce and it's actually quite tasty! Very oily, but still tasty. Super glad that they offer a delicious vegan soyrizo option without charging extra for it. First time trying their vegan mozzarella bread sticks, which was basically just cheeze pizza, and had their spicy red sauce on the side. This is my second time coming to eat at Blaze pizza but this is my first time at this location. It's pretty similar to MOD pizza the only difference is that MOD has way more options for condiments to choose from in which I like... Blaze didn't have a lot of meats that I wanted and didn't have corn! (Yes, don't judge I love corn on my pizza) That's honestly the only negative thing I have to say about this place. Other than that the pizza's Come out quickly and they give out free ranch so, YAY! They also have outdoor seating and technically you're not supposed to bring your dog into that area but we still did shhhh lol The place is very clean and new and it's not the easiest to find parking since it's in downtown. Went in to get two pizzas, my partner wanted pesto and red sauce on hers, I just wanted spicy sauce. First Lady with glasses starts it then just puts red sauce on it and goes to press another pizza, cool no deal but then her coworker lady with short hair comes and ask what we want on the single one. We ask for pesto since that's my partners and she says that " putting pesto on is hard" so tells me they can use that one for me. I didn't want that type of sauce but I said okay it's whatever, they then got mad and defense and said " if you don't like it then tell us" and the short hair lady says she'll let the original person help instead since she " didn't want to deal with this". Extremely rude, walked away then kept coming back and made the original lady nervous and what looked like uncomfortable. When Blaze first opened I was excited about the concept - basically Chipotle but for pizza. It was decent but has gone downhill. Went by and there were maybe a dozen customers -so not busy- and about 6 employees. The employees looked disinterested and almost zombie like, it was very odd. My son and I each ordered a pizza. Mine was a below average pie and my son's order was not accurate - he says this is common. I also ordered a side salad that was room temperature and much too salty - as was my pizza. I had to ask for a fork and the cashier didn't respond but started looking through a pile of papers, boxes, and other detritus around the cash register and finally found one. I remember thinking that was pretty unsanitary. The tables were bussed (customers buss their own) but one table had a stack of unfolded pizza boxes that sat there our entire visit, and all of the tables needed a quick wipe down. Honestly there was so little talk among the employees or between employees and customers that I felt uncomfortable the entire time, just an odd tension permeated the place. when i tell you that the workers are lazy and unmotivated understand that it's coming from someone who has recent experience working in the line pizza industry. i worked at mod for a year, so i'm familiar with the stations and responsibilities of line pizza workers. i have never seen more than three pizzas on the line at a time and they are made SO slowly. i've come during rush and during off time and the amount of time i've waited has never made sense. even at the quickest of times i've waited at least 40 minutes between walking in the store and my food being ready. eating at this blaze is a time and financial investment that rarely pays off. I've ordered from Blaze a few times now, and it's always been fairly good. Not my favorite of these types of chains (I probably prefer Pieology), but since it's the only one in Davis I'll take it. However, tonight's order was ROUGH. I ordered delivery, as I always have. The pizza is not warm, as always. I get that it's delivery, but seems like they could invest in better boxes or SOMETHING to fix this, especially for how much they advertise their delivery in my email inbox. I ordered it with balsamic glaze, and the pizza is absolutely DRENCHED in it. There are serious pools all over the pizza! Balsamic is a pretty strong flavor too, so you don't need much! I tried to dab as much off as I could but it's still sooo strong. What employee would think that much balsamic was a good idea??? If I was in the restaurant I would have sent it back. Also, the base sauce was supposed to be pesto but I can't taste it at all, I only know it's there because I can see some on one piece. Ratios are way off! And lastly, the pizza was barely cut. Smh. Every time I order online and something is always wrong with the order. Always. Loved the pizza here. Came in for Sunday lunch. The service is fast, friendly, and the pizza is delicious. They do personal Pizzas so if you're hungry maybe get some extras, like salad, breadsticks, or or extra pizzas. We had a hot pepperoni, hot link, veg out, and Caesar salad. This happens to be the spot I first experienced Blaze. I have gone to other spots after, including other similar style pizza joints too. But this still has to be my favorite spot. At least for a quick slice. They were super friendly to us, helping us make our special pizzas. The place is well kept and clean. It's nice bringing my young boys there. My only issue with Blaze is their 'keto' crust pizza. I'm giving them 4 stars because I honestly believe their build your own is the best way to eat pizza around Davis. With a huge range of toppings it's pretty friendly to anybody who could walk in the door, they offer gluten free crust and will always ask if you need a change of gloves which is great for someone who's celiac. They offer vegan cheese and vegan meatballs as well as a huge array of veggie toppings, olives jalepenos, chopped garlic, roasted garlic cloves, onion, mushrooms, a seasonal veggie - I've seen it be squash or Brussels (you'll be amazed how good they are on pizza) peppers, arugula to finish - there's a tonne of options here! They offer four sauces, classic and spicy marinara, cream sauce and garlic pesto. - LOVE the garlic pesto A variety of meats - sausage, pepperoni, ham, bacon, meatballs, chicken And plenty of cheese - highly recommend getting both the fresh mozzarella and the shredded. They also offer gorgonzola, feta, ricotta and Parmesan I'm sure I'm missing some toppings and I'm sure they change from time to time too! But I think you'll gather that you won't be short of options here! And then there's the Keto Crust - I did a really detailed review of this for my blog myfairfitness. com so if you're curious on my full thoughts on ingredients to after effects feel free to check it out! I think it's too much to include on a review of blaze as a whole. But what I will say is if you're strict keto the ingredients aren't friendly, if you're just trying to stay low on carbs it's fine. The texture is ok if it's anyway over cooked the cauliflower in it turns bitter, you can definitely make a better Keto Crust at home. It's crispy and a little smaller, not worth the extra dollars in my opinion... and the effects it had on my stomach were not good. Ordered 2 BYO pizzas at 7:00pm, app said they would be ready at 7:45pm. Already, a 45 minute wait seems a bit insane. Then, I still had to wait until 8:10pm, nearly 30 minutes past the expected time, to receive my 2 pizzas, where one of which, was completely burned on the outside. So, in the end, I waited an hour and 15 minutes for one pizza and a burned pizza. The service here is normally less abhorrent, but still seldom excellent. The workers claimed to have been staggering online orders and in-person orders, but 5 full lines in-person were helped in the time I was waiting. You could see at least 10 mobile order receipts just piled up with no one paying any attention to them. It seems like you need to hire more people or train them to be more efficient. I have been craving 'normal' pizza ever since I found out I am allergic to gluten and now I have found Blaze Pizza. They take being allergic to gluten very seriously. They have several gluten-free pizza crust to choose from and I was asked if I needed a glove change (yes, please). They use a new sauce spreader on my pizza, placed the pizza on a special mat while it was in the oven, and they have a designated gluten-free pizza cutter. ALL this was done without asking!! Came here with some of our friends on a Saturday evening for dinner. I always get this place mixed up with Blast 825...Blaze, Blast..same thing. When I heard we were coming here, I expected something similar to Pieology. And that is exactly what I got.. which isn't a bad thing! The place is open and bright, and the menu is easy to read. Something that stood out was the customer service. They were super nice and each person who helped with the toppings would call you by your name, thanks to the first person who takes down your name and type of order (premade combo or build your own). I went with a white sauce, ricotta & parmesan pizza with red peppers, spinach, sautéed onions, artichokes, meatball, and bacon...pretty much what I would've gotten at Pieology. I'd have to say I think they're more generous with toppings here at Blaze. Also, the food was QUICK!
