Well, while I got any topping that I wanted, I got so little right from the start. For example, without even knowing what I wanted, when I asked for ham, I got like 5-6 pieces. If you know the size of the pizzas, this doesn't cover much. So when I asked for a little more, I got 3 more. Again, not covering much. I love the blaze franchise, but my experience at this location wasn't the best. The bottom of the pizza was mostly black and it was difficult to eat the pizza. There wasn't much cheese on the pizza either. I got the vegan chorizo and it wasn't spread throughout the entire pizza. I mean what can go wrong with a build your own pizza place?! I have always enjoyed the meals here and will continue to come back. Sad that the worthington location closed cause it was so much closer to home. Every year the pi day deal is amazing since you can try new combinations and test out how you like it without having to worry about ruining a full price pie. This year was the "meat lovers" combo I tried and loved it. The extra garlic really came through with each bite too. Cheesy garlic bread was ok, probably not good enough for me to get it again unless I'm splitting it with someone since a bread and a pizza are too much for one person. The pesto was less than desirable. Not a lot of flavor and didn't add much to the bread. Shop was BUSY and only two people working. Would like to see some other help in there to make things go faster. A 20 min wait at this location just to place your order is not what I expect it to be. On this particular day the workers didn't seem too happy to be there but I'm chalking that up to a bad day since I haven't had issues in the past at other locations. Overall, I love their pizza. It's easy, fun, and totally customizable. And on most days pretty quick in and out too. The build your own pizzas can get expensive if you order lots of toppings. It has vegan cheese to substitute for the regular. The pizza only took a few minutes to cook. It was crispy without being burnt. The vegan cheese was melted and the toppings were all cooked through. It's much better than any of the shitty chains. The service isn't really good but of course it's all college goofballs working here. I would get something again from Blaze. It's not bad for a fast cooked pizza. What was mind blowing is that this place is right next-door to the Newport music venue and I was grabbing some pizza after a killer show by the Mike Gordon Band, when lo and behold Mike and the band got in line for some pizza behind us and we got to meet them and thank them for such an amazing show! Now back to the pizza, I love fire grilled pizza so this place is right up my alley. It's basically like a subway where you start at the beginning of the line tell them what you want on your pizza, they make it, throw it in the fire and call your name when it's ready. I've been to other locations in other states and I love it a lot more than I used to. A personal pizza for around $8 is an absolute steal. It's build your own and thin crust! It's a good portion for what you're getting and you won't feel bad about it because you're not overeating. It wasn't busy when I came on a Thursday around 11:45 with 5 other friends for lunch. There wasn't a ton of staff so the same guy putting the toppings also did the register. He was busy. I did the two toppings with mozzarella, of course, then spinach and tomato. I kinda wish that blaze had a choice of lactose free cheese but that's something the franchise would have to consider someday. I'm lactose sensitive and can eat cheese but not a whole lot of it. I enjoyed it! I was definitely full, although it could've been the cheese making me feel full. I don't think you can make a wrong choice here since it's build your own. You can choose some specialty types as well if you're not into creating something. What's awesome is that you don't have to get pizza sauce either if you're not into it. So lots of choices! I inquired about the status of my order and I was told all online orders were being made, and a worker named Kevin refused to check on mine. And just like a record breaking blockbuster can fill marquees with imitators, a newish concept in foodery (just go with the word) can infest the doors of stripmalls all over town. And like every A Bugs Life has its Ants, so must we have the phrase written on so many Yelp reviews, that of "The Chipotle Of____. " I must not be able to get with The Chipotle Of pizza, as I've tried several pizza places trying to forge the pizza pallor with the pick-em fast casual concept and I have yet to be wowed. To me they are just repackaging as new something common place. I mean pre-formulated pizza by the slice or pie has been around since Moses was a child; and build-your-own is as typical as calling for delivery. So when you go in and have the manager give a machine-gun rapid spiel of the ordering process it comes off as "well duh." In the end, it is the taste of the pizza that matters. I selected Build Your Own, going with classic ( read: boring) ingredients. Ham, shrooms, pepperoni, cheese, sauce, classic dough, onions. They have a great selection of ingredients, even some more adventurous, for those that like to get wild. The pie was well cooked and came out fast. These are small single meal pizzas, the size becoming all the rage. Though well cooked they are lacking in something unique. Blaze is standard, almost mediocre. The ham was good, the mushrooms flat, the sauce decent but falling short. The crust is to bland. To be fair, at at $13 price it make a fast cheep lunch, but I wouldn't make a special trip if you are not in the area. They day I came the place needed swept and table wiped. There were too much debris and trash on the floor, plus crumbs on the tables beside me. No one came out and cleaned while I was there. I think a-ok is the right ratings.
