So I've been to the blaze location in Riverside and now this one. It's night and day. The one in Riverside is so much better. This one was messy and not kept clean. There was food bits all over the counter and burnt pieces in the oven. When you are cooking pizza in the oven, those little pieces of charcoal are all over the bottom of the pizza. Seriously?!? At lunchtime, there are usually 3 of us that hang out and hit up the local eateries. Normally, we frequent the same places but on occasion, one of the guys will suggest the mall to check out the "talent" aka hotties. So off to Brea mall we went and we hit up the food court. Having been to 800 degrees before, I knew what Blaze was all about. Service was efficient and lunch was 9.00 without a drink. I don't believe the oven is wood burning but the pizza came out crispy but not soggy. I think the trick is not to go too heavy on the veggie toppings. Mmm I'm so glad they added this place at the mall! My mom and I shared one build-your-own pizza today. We each ate 3 slices, which was surprisingly very filling! I love how you can add as many toppings as you want without additional cost. We got a pizza with the classic red sauce, mozzarella, gorgonzola, pepperoni, bacon, chicken, italian sausage, turkey meatball, artichokes, spinach, basil, red pepper, mushrooms, and zucchini. I came in here only a few days after they had opened on a Saturday night (they had opened on Thursday, a few days before I came in). The employees were still in that I'm-super-excited-to-have-a-new-job phase and super enthusiastic, so that was a good thing but I was really displeased with the way their ingredients were displayed in their containers. Side note: I LOVE Pizza Studio in Buena Park. I frequent this place at least once a week at lunch because I work nearby. This place is my fave build-your-own pizza place: quick, clean, and delicious. They also offer various crust flavors, which Pieology and Blaze don't offer as far as I know. I went to Blaze expecting it to be similar to Pizza Studio. It was in style, but I could tell these people were amateurs. I really did not like that ingredients were dropped into other ingredients--for example there was a nice, fresh looking container with fresh basil in water.........with a fat chunk of meatball or sausage in it. That is SO not appetizing. I'm not a vegan or vegetarian or anything, but that was just gross, even if it is all going on the same pizza--at least pick that shit out of the water, geeze! So gross. Overall I did not like it as much as Pieology or Pizza Studio. I felt like I was eating stuff I didn't put on my pizza because it had fallen into ingredients I had picked--which defeats the purpose of this style. I've been to pieology before but I stumbled upon this in the brea mall and it totally blew pieology out of the water! The spicy red sauce is delicious and their choice of topping has a long list as well. Basil, salami, and of course pepperoni. The crust is thin and crispy as well. As for the speed of service it was great. The employee was attentive, polite, and quick on adding toppings and putting my pizza together. I am definitely coming back when I come to the mall again. oh! And try their blood orange lemonade which was recommended by the manager who seemed to have a great concern that myself and my girlfriend were getting what we wanted on our pizza in a polite and timely manner. read more

The staff here are pretty chill. But this review is for a certain employee; caucasian male with a buncha tattoos. He went out of his way to make sure my niece and I had the best experience. I ordered a custom pizza with half the pie as cheese only. As he was cutting up the pizza, he cut the cheese only side a bit more to accommodate my 5 year old niece. Totally impressed me. Every time I come here I tell myself I'm never going there again. But pizza sounded good so here I am. Ordered online and 15 min later I show up and they rudely say they never received anything. I pulled it up on my phone and they say it never printed. What a waste of time. Had to go thru the line even tho I was in a hurry hence why I ordered online. Yes yes yes!! Blaze pizza has finally opened in Brea Mall. The store looks AMAZING. The signature pizza oven is the star of the show. Finally we can try the Chef created artesinal pizzas or get inspired and build a pizza master piece which your taste buds will never forget. My big issue with this location is like the others it claims to have gluten free, but here they cross contaminate like crazy and even my husband had issues when he went in and had a pizza made for me. He asked for a glove change yet they still used the same olive oil and sauce that they use on the other pizzas meaning they use a brush and a ladle that's rubbed on pizza that has gluten! I love blaze pizza... hate this location and I've been very concerned and thought about writing someone higher up to make sure their employees are actually educated about gluten intolerance! Definitely a step below the many non-mall located Blazes I've eaten at. the pizza making area was a mess and there seemed to be fewer toppings on offer, but that could have just been my negative impression based on the messiness. Also, although some of the workers seemed really nice and did a great job making other customers' pizzas, my "pizza maker" could not have cared less and almost seemed to purposefully only put toppings on one side of the pizza. I only ate half my pizza and rather than taking home the other half, as it was already packed in a to go box, I threw it away, which is something I have never done before. Overall, pretty disappointing compared to other locations, but I'm still giving it 3 stars because it's pretty decent for food court lunch. read more

Went here the other day to try it out for the first time with my boyfriend. We both got a pizza and ordered one drink to share. When they called my name to get my pizza, they told me they had burned it and needed to remake it in the oven. I work at a pizza store so I totally understood that these sort of things happen and went down the line again. While in line, a person who I'm assuming was the manager offered me a free drink! I sat back down and when I came back up again, he handed me my pie and two complimentary s'more pies! You can tell they really care about their customers satisfaction and I wish I had cash to drop into the tip jar. The only negative side is some of the employees seem bothered at the fact that they have to make your pizza, and although there is a great selection of toppings, they barely put any on. read more

I've been here 3 or 4 times. The workers putting together the pizza are very friendly and are more than willing to explain how to order. I most recently came on a Wednesday night around 8 pm and there were only 3 pizzas in the oven, including mine. Somehow, the guy manning the oven managed to burn the bottom of my pizza. I saw him picking off charred bits of cheese and dough while slicing my pizza. I ended up just eating the cheese off the last few slices and then saw a dark HAIR embedded in the dough on the last slice. Mostly likely, I won't be back. read more

I am surprised about the complaints. I've eaten at a few Blaze locations and they all have been very consistent with regard to their quality and service. The build your own option is always the way I go and i get what I want. Once pizza fills you up and the ingredients are always fresh. I came to try the pizza the day they were free! :) i actually raced from my break from my campus to make it on time for the free pizza :) it was pretty yummies. I really liked how they had a variety of items where as pieology has fewer items. None the less I love pieology aswell. I love pizza in general :) i actually work at the brea mall so ill be a frequent customer! :) The owner I assume, was very nice and so where the employees. Placed an online order today for three pizzas, didn't get the "Pi Day" deal for a $3.14 pizza but assumed you would have to order in the restaurant for it to apply. Didn't mind, just wanted to order online and pick up three full priced BYOP pizzas for me and my coworkers to eat during lunch at work. Online process goes smoothly, I received an email saying that my order will be ready by 12:25 and that I just need to check in by then for it to go in the oven. I get to the mall by 12:20, skip the line for $3 dollar pizzas because mobile and online orders can go straight to the front and literally just get told that from the cashier/final topping prep guy that "They are not receiving mobile or online orders and that I would have to go to the back of the line and order again." I repeat that I have already ordered three pizzas for full price online and received a confirmation email saying that my order would be ready by 12:25. Cashier repeats, "no online orders or mobile orders will be processed today, go back to the end of the line and start your order there." There was no apology, no explanation as to why my order which was confirmed was not even in their system, and no confirmation whether if the credit card I used to charge a $30 order would go through or not, even though I would not be getting my order on time and therefore having them steal money from me. Best part is that the guy putting pizzas in the oven seemed like the only person that wanted to know what the problem was, and while the cashier was telling him my situation, this tiny female employee just splits the both of them up, clearly and loudly tells both of them to "Ignore me" and to only focus on people ordering $3 pizzas. At that point I just gave that girl two thumbs up, a smile, and a big thank you for misinforming a customer and then telling the employees to ignore me when they literally have not explained anything to me. Those two employees either need to be retrained or put in the back because there won't always be someone like me who will let your mistakes slide and cut you some slack just because this is the busiest day of the year for you. Also pick up your phone when customers call, this is the only location that has never answered my phone calls when I have questions about my order. Lastly when I check my bank statement this month and see that you guys processed my $30 order for 3/14/17 when you have denied me any service, you guys should expect a call from corporate asking for explanations. Came in here for the first time yesterday, had a really great time ! The pizza was delicious but one thing that stood out to me that other "Build-Your-Own" pizza places don't focus on is customer service. Esmeralda helped take my order and was very understanding that It was my first time and assisted me with a smile on her face. Nancy helped finish the pizza and helped me at the register, she introduced me to the Blaze app; works like a reward system to earn a point every time you come in. Joey was the person who cooked my pizza, as I waited for my pizza he kept me entertained by explaining how he cooks with an open fire. Before I knew it my pizza was out. Short wait and worth the price. Surprised by the amount of pizza. Fully loaded and I only ate half for lunch. I asked and got extra garlic for health reasons so that did impact my pizza taste. Let me start out by saying, I absolutely love Blaze Pizza. I go to the restaurant 2-3times per week. I am on the email chain, I take pride in having full blown Conversations with Blaze pizza on Twitter about how much I love their pizza. I just celebrated a Birthday and was gifted a gift card for blaze pizza because everyone who knows me, knows I go hard for Blaze. This location, the Brea Mall location, is the closest Blaze pizza to me. But I find myself going the extra 2 miles out of my way to go to another location because this Blaze is just so stingy with their toppings. On multiple occasions I have had to ask 2 and 3 times for toppings or more if the same toppings. Many times, I have noticed the pizza artist being reprimanded by their manager, and the artist responding that's how she asked for it to be. On October 7th, I was forced to go to this location as my family wanted to eat in the Brea mall food court. I found myself having to beg for toppings yet again. Once I got to the register, I asked the cashier why they are so stingy with toppings, did it come down from their manager? Everyone in earshot stopped what they were doing and looked at me. The cashier said no, the request to be stingy with toppings came down from corporate. I told her that was funny because Ive been to all of the blaze locations in Orange County and none of them are as strict as this location. She said again that the request came from corporate. I let it go. Later when I came back to pick up my pizza, the same cashier asked me if I asked for extra sauce and i said yes. She then showed me my pizza, all of the toppings had been pushed over to one side of the pizza as if it had "fell" or been dropped. She asked me if that was okay...HELL NO it wasn't but I wasn't in the mood to fuss. Plus, I didn't pay for the pizza, I used my Birthday gift card so, I just said yes. Then their manager, the same one i had seen reprimanding them for putting too many toppings on a pizza saw my pizza and immediately told them to make a new one. The cashier said I said i was ok with it. She looked at the pizza knowing it was way below Blaze's standards and did her best to plate it so that most of the toppings moved back in place. I was so pissed off that these workers were trying to "teach me a lesson" about toppings that I tweeted to blaze pizza. However, I thought better of making a yelp review because I wasn't sure if I was over reacting. I went 10 days without going to blaze. Maybe I needed a break. But today, I was jonesing for it and decided to stop by the La Habra location to finish out my gift card. I ordered my pizza as usual, they were not stingy with the toppings, they cooked it perfectly, and it came out looking delicious. In fact it tasted delicious. I wasn't exaggerating. The Brea Mall Blaze Pizza location is stingy with toppings and needs to work on their customer service skills. I missed 10 days, thats at least 3 trips to blaze because the workers and manager at this location dont understand the meaning of "Build Your Own". I will never return to this location again which is disappointing as they are the closest location to my house read more

I have eaten here a few times since they've opened, and it's been consistently good each time. I agree that they need to scrape their oven more consistently, but hopefully they read these reviews and fix that minor issue. This is a great restaurant if you are in the area! The employees were friendly and helpful and the pizza was quick to receive. However, I don't recommend it to anyone with a gluten allergy/sensitivity. Since I am not allergic, the employee marked my order with "gluten free preference". I was skeptical about this, but I did not really see too much that would be cause for alarm. The pizza itself was pretty good. However, that evening I had a reaction and realized what had caused it. If you must eat here, ask them to use the "allergy" preparation even if you are not allergic. Hopefully I will have a better experience(myself) next time. read more

I made the mistake of getting Gorgonzola on my BBQ chicken. I don't know if it was the cheese or me but it did not taste good. I could barely take a few bits of 1 slice.
