We arrived in Bar Harbor, hungry for something other than seafood for lunch. We decided on pizza. Since we have a Blaze Pizza back home we knew we could grab a quick pie that would be tasty. It is a chain restaurant But good. To our surprise this was not the Blaze we were familiar with, but a local place serving great pizza. I specifically want to mention the Fig and Ricotta pie. It was delicious and like nothing we'd previously tried. The waiter was super nice. The menu had much more than pizza. We sat outside on a nice June day and had a wonderful lunch. We ordered burgers which were above average but had a very unpleasant smoked cheddar cheese atop. We ordered drinks and a small bite. The chocolate milk stouts were great, and made by blaze brewery we found out. The sours, a little bit watered down tasting. Didn't like the blueberry mule at all, tastes of sugary water. And the duck fat fries came already soggy. The experience was tarnished a bit by the fact that I saw several employees with masks only over their months, and not covering their noses. We had two different bartenders over the three days, Matt and Josh, and both were fantastic. Reason being; the "diner burger" I had was not on any of the menu pics in Yelp reviews of this place. I think that's a cool trait for a restaurant. My wife had steak tacos, which she said were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We both had duck fat fries as our side. Personally, I didn't notice too much of a difference between them and "regular" fries elsewhere. I've had some awesome fries elsewhere in the U.S. and these don't rank among them. Disappointing. Felt like having some pizza after a few lobster roll meals. I had seen some great pictures of the surf and turf pizza, that had big steak pieces and lobster. I got takeout even though they had outside/inside seating (thanks COVID), but the pizza I got looked nothing like the pictures I'd seen. There was barely any lobster and I got some scraps of beef instead of the generous pieces that were supposed to be on there. Most of the pizza was just a plain white slice with some meat in the middle as consolation. Also got chicken yakitori as an appetizer. It tasted pretty good, although it was cold - but I'm willing to be reasonable and chalk that up to us being a few minutes late to pick up our food. Don't bother getting takeout. Definitely one of the hot spots in town! My friends and I were on a road when we visited this place. It was a long wait because of the weekend so we weren't able to get a table for dinner but we came back the next morning. Their pizzas were unique and pretty amazing! We tried this place because A dog friendly app suggested this restaurant. Their secluded patio can get rather warm. If you're interested in a high alcohol beer this is not the place for you. The food is pretty good and came out in a reasonable amount of time. However our server who was attentive at first decided that he was going to quit checking on us. We are so happy we ended up trying this place out before we left Bar Harbor. We called a few hours before and added our names to the waitlist and luckily got the table. The menu has tons of great options from wood fired pizza to burgers to sides to wings and it goes on. They also have an incredible selection of locally brewed craft beers including some by their own brewery. I am a stout lover and they had great options for me which is rare! We started with the the jalopeno cheddar cornbread and duck fat fries dusted with truffle Parmesan ( must try) and the special wild mushroom pizza + build your own pepperoni with smoked cheddar and ricotta based sauce! The best part was not even the food, it was the exceptional service. Our waitress had the right recommendations and was extremely accommodating and personable! (This is probably closer to 4.5 stars to me.) Blaze has outstanding food from a large menu of varied, creative options served by warm, friendly staff members. What we had - lobster-and-scallop risotto, steak frites, and triple fudge cake - was _perfect_. On the drinks side, there's an equally large menu of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and the beer list even includes wonderfully useful descriptions of each beer. Our drinks choices were excellent - a spicy margarita and a blueberry cocktail (that I should've written down the name of...). It was all pricey, but I felt like we definitely got what we paid for. The restaurant has a basic industrial look to me, with a warm and welcoming feel. It was packed when we visited on a late-Summer Sunday evening, having stopped here for dinner on a whim. The vibe of this place was pretty fun on the night before the MDI Marathon. It was crisp, late-fall weather but they had the patio enclosed and heat lamps to keep everyone warm. Other than that, it didn't impress. The food took a long, long time to come out which is less noticeable when you aren't dining out with kiddos, but hard to ignore when you are. When the toddler meal (burger and fries) finally came out, it was as red as the Yelp logo. She was about to go for it and I had to send it back which I hate doing. They got it right the second time but it added to the wait. The pizza was also just OK. We've been in Maine for a week already and if you can believe it, we've grown tired of seafood! That's why we sought this place out for pizza. I think the basil made it taste bitter cooked under the mozzarella instead of julienned on top after the pizza is cooked in high temps. I was astonished when the check came to see an "administrative charge" of 4 percent before tax in addition to the cost for lunch. When we asked about it the hostess said they were compensating for not raising prices. ??? Really? Now as a 23 yr resident I'm rooting for our businesses during the season, which is upon us. Went here for a nice dinner in Bar Harbour, Maine as we were in town for an evening. Ordered the Fruit of the Sea 2 person seafood platter for $95. Had a couple glasses of wine one sparkling water, our friend had a cocktail and a pizza. The platter for two was completely and utterly disappointing. Came out on an approximately 10"x10" cutting board.... for both of us....Did not get even close to filling either of us, had obviously sat under a heat lamp for a while as everything on the plate was rubbery. The carrots and potatoes on the side were so bland, unseasoned and over boiled that they were unedible. Was a complete rip off. The pizza was edible but nothing special. Thank God I had a glass of wine to soften the wave of underwhelm that they served us for dinner. Bill was about $250 and it's one of the only times in my life I've felt I deserved a full refund for food on a bill. Nothing was wrong with the staff, they were busy, polite and responsive, considering they are peddling subpar food for tips. A pint of beer was marked up pretty high for a beer not the quality of IPA's you find in Maine.
