As a self-admitted NYC pizza snob, I was pleasantly surprised by Blaze's most popular offering, the pan pizzas. They have some cool combinations, including a local meats version that looked promising. We settled on the fig and ricotta. I loved the cornmeal crust and the flecks of seasoning and cornmeal studding the bottom. Hands down, the best thing we ordered. The deep fried Brussels sprouts, while tasty, were too salty and doused in some sort of soy sauce/teriyaki sauce that, for me, made more than a few bites impossible but my husband really liked them. The salads we ordered were meh, veggies a little on the wilted or mushy side (the roasted tomatoes just did not taste good), dressing also too salty or sour. The Maine lobster cake came as a fried, nuclear-orange puck. I think the pizza here is a pretty safe option and would come back to try the other combinations, and just skip the salads. read more

Pizza was just ok (we didn't feel the quality of the cheese was good and the pizza was very salty). Price they charged was way over. We only ordered a soda, an appetizer and one pizza and it cost us $60. The waiter was very bad. He ignored us for the most of the night. We had to ask for another waitress for a refill on the soda and only got one refill on a $6 soda. We also waited 30min for the waiter to just come for the bill even after another waitress noticed and said something to him. A lady next to our table asked for a taste of a beer and they charged 75 cents. We visited other bars in Bar Harbor and they all offered a taste for free. Very bad experience after a very good day of our vacation. We will never visit this restaurant again and don't recommend it any one!!! read more

Sat outside at 5:45pm on a Friday. Everything was...easy. Water carafe on table is a huge win for us. Service was good, and we felt we got good vale for our $. Had the jerk steak tacos with an included side salad. And dining companion had a wood fired cheese pizza, which he liked MUCH more than Rosalie's. Drinks seemed a little too pricey ($10 draft beer and $14 glass of wine), but maybe that's just Bar Harbor prices? read more

Delicious! Ordered fish tacos and a pizza and both were excellent! Sometimes you order fish tacos and get these skinny soft shells with scraps of fish inside, not here! These tacos were fat as hell with a nice portion of fish. Also the GF pizza was tasty, with a charred crust, delicious! read more

This is a cool little spot in beautiful Blue Hill. We just stopped in for a drink. We sat in the small lower patio right next to the babbling brook which fed straight into the Mt. Desert Narrows across the street. We ordered a cider and a beer. The server may have also been the bartender. We were there at a weird time of day. There were not many customers at the time. He was the friendliest and coolest server of the week. Three cheers for that. The drinks were cold and tasty. We decided to have some oysters and I'm glad we did. This is going to be short but to the point: this place is a home run. Stopped in at the bar - in the middle of COVID - looking for a drink and a bite. The bartender was wonderful (more on that in a moment) Ordered two featured cocktails: the Blaze Old Fashioned - which was a nice twist on the traditional drink, and the Blaze-a-Rita - a jalapeño infused Margarita that had a nice kick. We ate a couple of appetizers that were the BOMB. Let me introduce them: 1) Pork Belly Lollipops - crispy fried pork belly confit, glazed with a lemongrass Thai chili sauce. Holy CRAP these were amazing!! 2) Bacon wrapped scallops - Wood-grilled, U10 Stonington, Sunset Farms bacon and Maine blueberry and maple syrup glaze. Also Off.the.Chain. And - as good as everything else was - one of the best things about the evening was RICARDO - our bartender and Master Mixer of Amazing Libations. I went 06/26/20 and Blaze is now open for Dine in. They have indoor dining and outdoor covered patio dining that is dog friendly and an outdoor covered bar seating area. Lots of yummy food options and appetizers. Also a great place to hit after the Shore Walk if you start by the water and walk to the end. They have a pretty large drink list and the fun drinks looked like nice large sizes. read more

Loved the food (pizza, burger, beer, cider). The hostess was not very friendly, there were no tables available so we sat at the bar and waited. Had to go to her while she was smoking at the entrance to ask if the empty table was available for us, which it was but she wasn't in a hurry to get us seated. Our server, Amoy, was friendly and available, but can't say that about the other server working tables near by. The setting was good, pub style and felt comfortable if a bit crowded. Highly recommend! We had lunch here after a morning of walking on Ocean Trail. It had an energetic vibe and there was football playing on the tv. The waiter was okay. The menu was expansive, but we came here for the wood fired pizzas. We ordered two - one custom and one veggie. We liked them! There is a great selection of beers and cocktails and all of the drinks we ordered were delicious. I ordered half a dozen Pemiguad oysters and was happy with my appetizer. Blaze was the first place I visited on my recent trip to Bar Harbor, and I was very appreciative of them being open on Easter after a long travel day. I was sat at the bar, and found the service to be fairly good. They were busy and were attentive to the people that were coming in, but also seemed to have issues with seating that lead to me feeling pressured to leave. The food was a highlight, I got the duck burger and it was delicious. It was thick, difficult to eat, but the flavor was amazing and the fries were crispy and flavorful. They also had a great soundtrack playing in the background, which may not mean a lot to everyone but was a bonus in my book. I would definitely recommend! read more

Pork Belly Lollipops: favorite dish here! The pork belly is well cooked so that it is very soft. The sauce is sweet and spicy, nice! Nachos: not special. It has meat so not vegetarian. Grill of the week: this week is sausage hotdog. It is just so so. Not a fan for this sausage, like Italian sausage? Surf and turf: this dish is $140 for this week, which contains a grilled lobster and tomahawk steak(maybe? Never had it before). The steak is ok, not bad not too good. The owner I believe came to apologize later that night. Service was just very slow and unattentive. Unappetizing is a kind description...and I actually like pork belly. I ordered chicken tacos. The meat was pulled, sweet/spicy and wet, sitting on a a few pieces of shredded red cabbage. Blaze was a perfectly average dinner spot. The beer and cocktail selection was solid, I'd rank that as the most impressive part of the menu. And service was great, with attentive wait staff who were good about checking in at appropriate intervals (without making me feel rushed). Food was good - I had the "wagyu" short rib panini, and it tasted like a decent panini should. I thought it was decent bar food, but nothing to write home about overall. This place gets a ton of hype, with long lines and corresponding wait times. We were seated inside quickly. I decided on a bottle beer and my wife had 13.00 glass of wine That was about 4 oz. , really can't get two. East coast chefs should not sell Tacos. One was pulled pork with slaw and bbq sauce. Ok , but shouldn't be on a corn tortilla. Came out sweet. And the other was a Jamaica jerk beef and it should just be on a plate. Made a real chewy taco. But the French fries were excellent. And the house salad was very good. The pulled pork would make great sliders. Beautiful, small, kinda upscale spot right on the main drag in Bar Harbor. There is outdoor and indoor seating - we sat at the bar so we wouldn't have to wait. The bartender was very courteous and was happy to serve us food at the bar. I had a Bissell Substance (yay for Bissell being up in MDI!), and also ordered a half and half pizza of the Blaze Neapolitan (red sauce, oven roasted tomato, fresh & smoked mozzarella, fresh basil) and wild mushroom (ricotta base, mushroom medley, baby spinach, shallots, balsamic). The kitchen was nice enough to do a half and half for me! This pizza was DEE.LISSHHH. You could really taste the authentic wood-fired taste. I loved it. They didn't skimp on ingredients. These pizzas are on the smaller and more expensive side, so I'd suggest getting one per person. The super fresh ingredients and perfect cook make it worth the money. A fun little spot - I felt underdressed and not quite fancy enough here, but the food was so good I didn't worry much. Definitely come here if you love artisan pizza and don't mind spending $17 or $18 for it. read more

As a year round resident of Bar Harbor my family tries to support the restaurants that stay open year round. Our last couple of takeout orders from Blaze were pretty horrible - burnt, missing items etc. During our last visit we ordered takeout pizzas and, again, burnt to a crisp. I called the restaurant, asked for a refund, and offered to send pictures of our food. The manager stated it was not necessary and offered a refund to my credit card. I never received the refund. Unfortunately, we will not be going back to Blaze again. It used to be one of our favorite restaurants but there are more consistent options in town. read more

Nice little patio seating, great for people watching, good service and decent food, make for an enjoyable dining experience. Portions are large, albeit a bit pricey (but then that's Bar Harbor). The Poutine was savory but seemed more like cheese sauce instead of cheese curds. The Pork Belly Duck Burger was okay, but surprisingly lacked any significant flavor. The When Pigs Fly Pizza was good, but very rich, and seemed to have baked unevenly as the crust was scorched in places. The size is more than adequate for two people, or more if you share a salad or appetizers as well. read more
