Have had Holiday Pools service my in-ground pool for years (20+). They were great for a long time -…read morefriendly pool cleaners, great service at a reasonable price. The last few years though... I don't know if the business changed hands and has new ownership, but it feels like it. The friendly, helpful pool guy we used to have was replaced by someone who's primary goal was, seemingly, to get in and out of there as quickly as possible. Corners were being cut and the level of service was falling, while the cost kept rising. Many times I wasn't sure that the guy had even come that week - there was no evidence of him having been there. I called the office about it and was told to call the service tech. I did and tried to have a conversation about what seemed to be happening. He immediately got very defensive and refused to speak to me. His boss got on the phone and started arguing with me about how they were actually doing the level of service they promised, despite the obvious reality. This animosity died down eventually and they continued to maintain our pool, and were actually doing a better job. The pool almost always looked pretty good despite the short weekly visits. The prices kept going up though, eventually reaching $160/mo for short, 10-minute weekly visits. They complained about the number of trees surrounding the pool but still managed to be in and out in under 15 minutes every time no matter what. Just this week we found a note on the door saying that Holiday Pools is breaking up with us as of the end of the month. No reason, just "call the owner if you have questions." I'm not going to bother. It's time for us to move on as well. Too bad... a great old Chico business slowly pricing and complaining itself out of existence.
