I came to Dr. Chong for my first physical since 2016, expecting a serious and thorough evaluation. Instead, he ignored my extremely high cholesterol levels and my documented family history of multiple early cardiovascular deaths. That is a critical red flag that should have prompted immediate action. His only response was, "LDL cholesterol elevated," with no plan or explanation. I had no idea what that meant, and when I asked for more information, he gave me generic wellness advice. I had to consult medical professionals in my family on the mainland to actually understand my lab results, which clearly required urgent attention and statin therapy. When I asked about statin treatment (perception medicine) and addressed his lack of explanation and billing practices he sarcastically replied, "Clearly your medical knowledge is advanced and you are free to find another physician to care for you." He then abruptly ended the conversation and cut off all communication. This was not a misunderstanding. This was a doctor refusing to treat a serious medical condition, dismissing standard questions, and pushing a patient out the door. He also billed me for an unnecessary ultrasound, despite his office requesting my MRI weeks earlier and never reviewing it. That is either negligence or intentional overbilling. The waiting room feels more like a sales floor than a medical clinic. Based on other reviews, non-Asian patients are regularly treated as an afterthought. If you care about your health, go elsewhere. I have been a patient of Dr. Chong's for over 20 years, he and his staff are nothing but professional, warm and welcoming. Being an extreme athlete I have suffered many injuries throughout the years, in-fact I have had arthroscopic knee surgery on my right knee and a disk removed in my neck due to overuse. Fast forward to 2015, I had yet another surgery scheduled for my other knee and then...I got notice of the big C. Being that breast cancer took presidency over my knee, I put that surgery on hold. Since then Dr. Chong got licensed to perform PRP shots, a non-invasive shot using your own blood to heal. I received three shots in the knee I had put the surgery on hold and two shots on my right knee that I had surgery on in the past (this worsened because arthroscopic knee surgery removes part of your meniscus, which you actually need). I honestly never thought I would be able to jog or hike again and now I have zero pain. Even though insurance doesn't cover this yet, I would have payed way more after insurance for the surgeries not to mention they would have removed pieces in my body that actually belong there. Dr. Chong values and morals supersede most, so rest assured he doesn't just inject anybody. Both my Sister and Cousin were turned down because their situations were such that he didn't believe PRP would help them. PRP is great for arthritis, meniscus tears, rotator cuff injuries, plantar fasciitis and much more. I highly suggest scheduling a consultation to learn more about it and if can help you like it did me. A little bit about PRP... Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is a substance that' promotes healing when injected. Plasma is a component of your blood that contains special "factors," or proteins, that help your blood to clot. I have been a patient at this office for over a year and have only been able to be seen once as he is always too busy for appointments or simply does not respond. Any time I have tried to make an appointment about a health concern he is pretty much in denial that something could potentially be wrong and will not schedule me so I've had to go to urgent care or other doctors for help. Unhelpful staff and doctor ignoring calls for months. Don't trust with Medical Files (I'm not the only reviewer to say so). I was trying to get into this doctor for about 6 months. I have chronic pain and needed recommendations for Physical Therapy. They requested that I send my entire medical record over to them before they would take me which was new. I've lived in several states and I haven't had that experience. Once they received the records I was told for weeks they were reviewing it. I would call once or twice a week for a long time. They would tell me that doctor would respond and they'd call me back. They seemed annoyed that I was calling so often and didn't issue any condolences or apologies for the Doc's and their lack of communication. I found another doctor thankfully. I wouldn't recommend this doctor or his rude misleading staff. read more

Been seeing Dr Blane Chong for a few years now. Has always diagnosed and fixed my injuries everytime. If you call the office they leave you detailed dates and times they are open so he isn't a walk in Dr you should go to urgent care if you need immediate help. But he is worth the wait if you want a doctor that has a lot of experience with sports injuries I went to Straub ER paid 500.00 to sit in a hall. Then ultrasound the next day that showed nothing. Went to Dr Blane 3 days later got PRP treatment and was up and moving the next day. Ill take him over anyone that has openings all day. If they aren't busy maybe it's because they aren't as good. read more

I was delighted to receive a quick first appointment and had hoped Dr. Chong would be a decent primary care doctor. He treated me like garbage, presumably because of bipolar 1 and PTSD diagnoses. I brought my wife to help with my credibility having had issues with medical professionals owing to prejudice against patients with mental health issues. When I got to the Q & A about my conditions my diabetes 2 in remission came up. I told him I'd gotten the diagnosis in 2008. He asked when it was last monitored by a blood test, which was, in fact 6 mos ago and it was in remission. Before I could answer my wife, misunderstanding honestly, says "2008?". I say no, it was this year. Before I can refer him to Waimanalo Health where the test was done and is on record, Dr Chong starts to admonish me about simply answering the questions. My annoyance with his patronizing tone and impatience was not disguised in my tone when I told him, "I'm ready go ahead and just ask the questions, what I was trying to say was the test was done 6 mos ago and I was remission." He personally escorted us out the door in front of the patients in the waiting room trying to humiliate us. Nobody yelled, no foul language was used but he went from being concerned about my not having a CPAP machine and updated prescriptions to high handed lay firing me as a patient, my wife was shocked and could not see what motivated him. Prejudice we presume. He is unprofessional now I have to wait at least a few days to have my health issues addressed. read more

Good guy, good doctor! I like and respect him. Really nice office staff! I have seen him several times for various reasons. Spends time to listen and really good at explaining. Practices what he preaches and follows his own healthy advice. I like that he gives back as a coach in addition to being a doctor. I recommend Dr. Chong! read more

Dr Chong is a good primary care doctor for you standard preventative care visits... you annual physicals and referrals and labs. He really does have good bedside manner in spite of what other reviewers may have said. I typically get morning appointments at 8:30 am, which appears to be the earliest appointment slot (not really 8am like the hours say). Just be sure to work around his schedule because he has limited office hours. read more

I have been a patient of dr. Chong for over 25 years. I don't go to the Dr. unless i really absolutely need too. I just tried to call the office today cause I feel really sick and couldn't kick the cold on my own. When I ask if they have time to see me the lady says hang on. Then comes back and says sorry that last time you seen Dr. was 3 years ago so your considered a new patient. We can schedule you next month WTF?!? I tell her I have been seeing dr. Ching since I was a kid over 25 years. Not to mention what the fuck would seeing the dr next month do if I'm sick now! She says well sorry since you haven't come for 3 years your no longer a patient. Really thats ridiculous. The way see it is you guys didn't make any money off me in 3 years so I'm no longer a patient? Maybe if your office hours weren't so ridiculous I would have come sooner but you guys are never open when I'm free. Then I finally have time when your open and I'm not a patient. I still like dr .
