It was a great experience, I went with my girlfriend for a social occasion and they started us off with a glass of prosecco. Our server gave us some suggestions from the menu. We decided to get the all in option, compromised with a mix of juicy meats. (lamb, beef, and pork) we would highly recommend getting this. You get to have a variety of their fine meats. It was our last day here and I wanted to have one of those big chops. Went with the smallest bone in sirloin (450g) and to finish it off I had thier white chocolate cheese cake. The cheese cake was very light and creamy, was not too sweet. I was afraid I would be able to finish it after eating so much meat, but after finishing the cheese cake I regret not asking for more. 10/10 would come again. Starting out, this is a review of Blacklock Covent Garden, why is that not an option in Yelp? As I expect all Blacklocks, this one was super busy on a Sunday, lucky we had reservations, and it was fantastic. We opted for the All In and were not disappointed. All 3 of the carved meats were moist and tender and delicious. The veg and roast potatoes were excellent and when our first gravy boat ran dry, they gladly replenished our supply. I had heard about this place from the Insider Food guys, Harry and Joe and I'm happy we were able to take in one of our precious Sundays at this place. read more

Went for Dinner Food - 4/5. The pre-chop bites were an absolute delight providing different flavors and textures. The potted meats & kimchi were my favorite as the strong meat flavor paired well with the equally strong funk of the kimchi. From the all in, the lamb chops were fantastic. It was a perfect medium rare, tender, had no gamey flavor and the fat was rendered well. The thickness was just right to give you a satisfying bite. Pork was similar to the lamb in having all the excellent qualities, although falling a bit short in comparison. Fries were very rich with beef flavor and while it was delicious at first, the flavor quickly overwhelmed the palate. Luckily the slaw helped act as a palate cleanser with its refreshing crunch and sour flavor. Gravy had a lot of depth and the rich flavor elevated the meat. The beef, which I imagined would be the star of the show, was disappointing. It was a smaller piece than the other meats but seemed to have been cooked the same amount, resulting in a medium well that was tough. It must have had very little marbling as the beef flavor was entirely lacking. Even with the gravy, it was a chore to eat due to how flavorless and tough it was. The flatbread was very hard and dense, barely soaking up any of the meat juices. Service - 4/5. Friendly and courteous. Value - 4/5. Their portion sizes are very generous, with the all in being served with a heaping pile of meat, sides, and pre-chop bites for £27 per person. The sauce was extra, at a reasonable £3 for the gravy. Most items were excellent, except for the beef. The website really sold the idea of quality Cornish beef that made me decide on Blacklock so despite everything else being amazing, I could not get over the fact that the beef was lackluster. The timing didn't work out for us, but it seems like visiting on Monday for butcher price big chops or Sunday for the roast are better options. Was skeptical at first with it being a chain, but damn that meat was divine. Went on Butcher Special Monday. Got a rump of lamb, sweet potatoes and bread soaked in gravy. Quite surprised with the slew of Chinese tourists at 2pm on a Monday, but the restaurant was accommodating and very good at keeping everyone served. The venue had a cool vibe, the service provided by Ida was top notch, there were brilliant Brazilians grilling all the meat choices from our entree the All In One (customized for 3 instead of 2) with 3 sides plus drinks handcrafted by a gifted man from Spain and the dessert from the war with a scoop of ice cream was spoon licking bowl scrapping good. Make a reservation on Sundays! I made a reservation well in advance of a recent trip to London and it surpassed all my expectations, the food and the service was all on point. Even though this post was a little further away from my hotel, having read and watched several reviews of their Sunday Roast, I knew I had to give it a try. The Sunday Roast was just an amazing plate of meats; beef, pork, and lamb. The combination of 55 Day Aged Beef Rump, 28 Day Aged Lamb Leg and 21 Day Aged Pork Loin was roasted over open coals and English oak the traditional way was amazing! Each bite was incredibly tender and delicious, with the Blacklock gravy and accompaniments. Do yourself a favor and do not make yourself choose just one meat, go for the all-in and get all three because I honestly could not tell you which one to choose if you are to choose only one. I read some reviews stating that they could do without the pork loin but I'll say that was the most impressive part of the plate. I've never had a piece of pork that was so incredibly melty tender that I mistook it for the lamb initially! The beef could not be mistaken for anything else it was so beefy. I'll never turn down a bite of this lamb ever! Make sure you are nimble with your dinner companions as everyone will want seconds from this plate. Along with the meat, each plate is also adorned with a giant Yorkshire pudding, duck fat-roasted potatoes and much seasonal vegetables. A combination of sauces specifically for the pork and lamb and rich thick Blacklock gravy is provided on side as well that is so sticky delicious, if you accidentally knock over some on the table (like my clumsy self did) will require an army of servers to help clean up. You'll definitely want to ask for more! Once you place your order, you'll have to temper your excitement as you start to see some of the gorgeous plates being served around you. Be patient! Excellent food, great service, and just a really fantastic experience. We made reservations for right when they opened and got seated with no issues, but it filled up fast with no seats open when we left. Service: Our waitress was awesome!! Passed my water test with no issues. Since it was our first time, they gave us a complimentary cauliflower side and even the white chocolate cheesecake which was totally unexpected and so nice of them. Everyone was just so friendly which was awesome! Food: Freaking amazing!! + Sunday roast trio: Comes with succulent beef, lamb and pork along with a fluffy Yorkshire pudding, crispy potatoes, juicy carrots and broccolini. At first I thought I'd only want the best, but everything was so tasty that I ate it all! For sauces there's the wonderful gravy along with mint, apple, and horseradish sauces. Their flavors really helped balance the meat sweats. :) Everything was fantastic and blew my expectations out of the water. + Cheesy cauliflower: Good and cheesy + White chocolate cheesecake: We were already full but decided that this sounded too good (always room in the dessert stomach anyways right?). We got lucky and made a reservation for our our 4 kid, 4 parent table. This place is small for sure, so big parties beware. The Sunday roast here is the obvious star, and really reasonable pricing. What I love is that they saw we had 4 little kids (all under 5) and instead of charging us 30 pounds per kid, they just added a few extra sides and we were grateful. For an American (damn yankee) the meats were flavorful but to me, were a bit under cooked. I like a medium rare steak always, but I struggled sometimes with a slightly too rare cut, and the meat wasnt the most tender (but we had to be reasonable what to expect here). Still, a great value, and great experience. And yeah, the lasagna dish of cheesecake is worth it. read more

Oh my gaaa.... Normally as a veggie I wouldn't go to a meat heavy roast style restaurant let alone suggest it ot others BUT holy shit this place is good. They go out of their way to include vegetarians without trying to emulate the carnivore experience. They are masterful in crafting a roast of celery root roast with all the trimmings including a veggie gravy. I cannot express enough how well it's done. I waited months to get this Sunday booking. We had the pig's head as starter... It was ok.a bit salty. We also had the squid with bone marrow which seemed burnt and tasted slightly bitter... Both dishes were disappointing to be fair. The main dishes took forever to arrive. Longer than others and we're not sure why. It arrived after we chased it. We had one lamb roast and two mixed roasts (2 people minimum). The pork was super tender and juicy, however, only half of the meat was edible as the other half was fat. The crackling was crispy so that was good. The beef was nice. The lamb we had was extremely chewy and impossible to cut with the knife provided. However, the waitress did come over to ask how it was going hence I informed her. She therefore went to speak to the kitchen then gave us two pieces of replacement lamb. These two pieces were very tender and delicious. Everything seemed medium rare as we were never asked how we wanted our meat cooked, therefore, do let them know if you have a preference. Yorkshire puddings were Instagram worthy as they humongous, however we hardly touched it as it was just too big. Each Sunday roast came with carrots, potatoes, broccoli (which was chewy and hard on the end as they hadn't cut off the dryer, older ends...) And sauces for the meats. Mint, Apple and horse radish. Overall, we would go back but will not be ordering starters and shall be speaking up if we don't receive a decent cut of meat. Everything tastes good if you drown it in gravy. The veggies were ok -- carrots, potatoes, broccolini. My son who lived in the UK said it was a decent roast but not the best he has had. We made a reservation for my friends 50th birthday. When we ordered we said we do not eat lamb. We said should we order one beef and one pork or can we do the Sunday All In with no lamb. He said yes that is not a problem. We finally get our food. They looked at it and said they didn't put any pork on the plate they put all beef. He said to keep it and that they will bring the pork on the side. I asked again is this lamb. He said no. The first bit that I took was lamb! I specifically asked several times. When we ordered then when the food was dropped off! This is very poor service. It ruined the meal! They didn't even recognize that we were celebrating a birthday. We came here looking for a relatively cheap place to eat and my friend wanted steak. The wait was about an hour so we got drinks in the area and came back. There appeared to be a glitch in the app which caused our reservation to disappear. The hostess was able to find us something maybe 15 minutes later. She apologized and gave us complementary drinks. I ordered a small beef chop, the beef dripping chips and the kale parmesean. I wasn't super hungry so this was the perfect size. The chop was perfect! However the kale parmesean wasn't special and I didn't like the beef dripping chips. I expected more flavor. Overall I had an okay food experience but the friendly staff makes up for it.
