We went for lunch to celebrate my husband's recent milestone birthday and were bowled over. The oysters were bracingly fresh. His steak was perfect. For him, the highlight was the chips cooked in beef dripping: OMG over the top amazing! I had a Wellington with mushrooms and cheese (delectable) and a gorgeous Caesar salad. The sticky toffee pudding (my very first ever) was sooooo orgasmic! Husband had a strawberry tart that was fresh and creamy and served with a quenelle of mouth watering strawberry gelato. I was able to arrange a welcome drink for my husband on the OpenTable app. It came on a dinner plate with a happy birthday message inscribed in chocolate, and a single discrete candle. I had a tradition of celebrating my last night of holiday at the Hawksmoor. After tonight's service, I will not. The service was good until the end of the meal. Upon clearing my plate, the waiter asked if I would like to see the dessert menu. I asked for some time prior to looking. A couple of moments later, a person who I believe was a supervisor came over and presented me with the bill. I was surprised and stated that I had asked for some time before deciding on dessert. He gave me a minute before coming back asking if he should bring over the card reader. There were plenty of open tables, and it was still early in the evening, so there was no reason for the push. Prior to this, it was a great restaurant, but after this experience, I will think twice before returning. read more

We had a pretty bad experience at Hawksmoor at Knightsbridge. The chicken my wife ordered was dry and overcooked, the steak was barely salted and had to rely on the sauce to make it edible and the cows in a blanket were overcooked and tough. The toffee sundae pudding was extremely sweet (probably the clotted cream ice cream). Also I was not expecting to be served beer out of a can for a high end place like this. I would think they would at least have their own lager/IPA on draught. The person waiting on us had an extremely condescending attitude to every question we asked and they did not seem to be interested in helping out with any kid friendly options from food or drinks perspective at all. The reception and the host staff are extremely nice and the ambiance is fitting for a place like this, but that is the extent of it. They also tack on an automatic "optional" service charge. Overall a pretty bad experience for the amount of money they charge here. I would not recommend this place. read more

One of the best meals I have ever had in my life! I ordered from the Express Menu & what a value for your money! I started off with the Beef & Bacon w/ Yorkshire Pudding. The flavor of this meal and size could serve as a stand alone meal. A little more beef broth would have been welcomed to accompany the size of the pudding but it still was phenomenal. The main course was the Beef Rump (medium) w/ fries and salad. Wow! The Rump was cooked to perfection! The juices poured out as I cut the meat! The fries were perfect! Great flavor and the perfect amount. The sad was simple with a simple dressing made from Olive Oil which was a perfect compliment. I also had a side of the mash potatoes and gravy which were divine. The bone marrow gravy was perfect with the Beef Rump as well! Fu of flavor but not over powering the meat. Finally, The Sticky Toffee Pudding Sundae was the perfect ending to this amazing meal. I come to the U.K. And seek out Sticky Toffee pudding as soon as I land and this one is the clear cut winner. There is no way I can come to London and not visit this restaurant! 2020 (Pre lockdown 1) the Sunday Roast lunch experience was very good. Which set high hopes for the next meal here. August 2021 (post lockdown 3) and the Saturday steak dinner experience was poor. Before our trip to London, my girlfriend and I did an extensive search on Sunday Roast restaurants. After going back and forth between Hawksmoor and Blacklock, we decided to come here. Reservation was easy, and we both liked the restaurant itself. The food was ok. My girlfriend ordered Sunday roast. Just because I didn't want to order the same thing, I ordered ribeye steak. I don't know if it's our expectation was too high, we were both underwhelmed by the roast. My girlfriend was completely turned off by the "gravy." It's an orangish clear liquid made from bone marrow. As you can see in my photo, my steak looked terrible. Just a slab of meat that looks really dry. It was not a juicy steak as you can guess from the picture, but it was way more flavorful than the roast. Glad that we tried Sunday roast (check!). We do not need to try it again. The location worked out great for us. It's only several minute walk away from the Victoria and Albert Museum. We took a tour at the museum in the morning and came here for a late Sunday lunch. Delicious Sunday roast! Although their preset Sunday roast dinner stopped at 6:30 and we came after that time, we were still able to have a delicious taste of London's Sunday roast at the highly rated Hawksmoor! With the help of our waitress, she was kind enough to put together the dishes a la carte to make a tasty dinner including the rump roast, carrots, buttered lettuce, and Yorkshire pudding. The roast was cooked to medium perfection, the vegetables were very tasty, and the Yorkshire was soft and paired perfectly with the gravy. Wow!! We sat down at 6pm on a Saturday night with twin 6 year olds. Not only did we receive great service but the staff went above and beyond interacting with our kids and made us feel very welcome.
