    Caprese

Blacklist Bagels has been operating for a couple of years at different ghost kitchens and popups around town. They're currently working out of the "Chef Shack" incubator kitchen located at 1003 Lake Drive SE, as well as doing popups at local distilleries and some farmer's markets. I saw they posted a hot cheeto bagel which I was really intrigued by, so I ordered some items online and picked them up from their new space in the Chef Shack last weekend. There is some nice indoor seating available at the Chef Shack, so you can eat your bagels there or take them to go. I got the hot cheeto elote bagel, the caprese bagel with prosciutto, and two hash browns. The hot cheeto elote bagel was so good! It wasn't super spicy but I liked the chorizo and the corn was very fresh. The caprese bagel has been my go to for awhile - I love the fresh mozzarella and juicy tomatoes. The addition of the prosciutto was totally worth it and added a nice savoriness. The hash browns are the best! They're similar to McDonald's but better. Be sure to follow them on social media to see where they might be next. Definitely a must try for bagel fans.

We enjoyed some bagel sandwiches when we found these guys at the Fulton St Farmers Market. We made sure to arrive early because we heard they run out quickly. Everything on their menu was prepped before hand and was inside a warmer to quickly keep the line moving. I went with the Spicy Boy, and I loved it. It definitely has a kick considering the only ingredient without spice, is the egg. They give you the Ghost Pepper Aioli on the side, which helps to control the heat. The bagels are on the fluffier side but cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We will definitely be back!

Preordered jalapeño asiago, cinnamon sugar, and asiago everything bagels. Service was so quick and kind. Bagel was delicious!

Bagels: salt, jalepeño cheddar, everything, plain.

Finally; chewy, boiled, REAL bagels in GR! On top of that: kind creators who take their work seriously and are happy to interact with customers. Welcome flavors (Everything seasoned on both sides!) and always a new fun sandwich or treat to keep you smiling. Focaccia= yummy and that hash brown=dangerous. Thank you, Blacklist.

    Monte Cristo

The Monte Cristo - deep fried bagel, ham, raspberry-Dijon mustard, Gruyère cheese, topped with powdered sugar. Let's start with the bagel. I thought other local bagel shops were already amazing. You can really tell when baked goods are fresh. They just have that immaculate texture and taste. I'm not sure if it was because this one was deep fried but it had this incredible crunch on the outside while being fluffy on the inside. Ham was delicious. No fatty or chewy bits. Gruyère cheese was the perfect choice to complement this bagel. Subtle flavor but it gave it that delicious cheesy texture and mouthfeel. Powdered sugar was more so for looks but added a touch of sweetness that I enjoyed. Lastly, that raspberry-Dijon mustard sauce. I actually didn't know this had Dijon at all when I bought it (I thought it was just going to be a raspberry jam spread) and I kept thinking about how it tasted like honey mustard. Guess that explains it. I think this sauce really tied everything together. It had a tangy raspberry flavor and sometimes you'd get that ever so subtle taste of mustard. It was very creamy too which blended with the texture of the melted cheese. It just works. This was very, very good. I think blacknapkin is going to have some competition for my Saturday food spot. Go here, you won't regret it.

Hashbrown double down on jalapeno cheddar

We've been looking for a great breakfast sandwich in the area and this place delivers! They are operating out of Chef Shack and available on select mornings. My favorite bagel is the jalapeno cheddar! My husband and I both love the hashbrown double-down sandwich on bagel of choice. The dirty Denver is also a favorite. The spicy boy 3.0 was really spicy, I could not handle that one. I tried an everything bagel and it was a little too browned for me.

I almost had a panic attack in my midsize SUV (but she's thick so...). It started off fine like "oh dang this is narrow but its a tiny corner lot so I get it." Then it quickly turned into my car sensors blowing up while I'm working out a 20-point turn to get around the corner without hitting the wall in front of me, the curb below me or the steel poles EVERYWHERE. But we made it. Rest assured. Next time, I'll just walk inside. :-)

Parking is nonexistent, so we decided to hit the drive through and eat at a local park. If you have a large vehicle (truck, full-size SUV, etc...) be very careful in the drive through. It is quite tight. Luckily we had my wife's Blazer, which was no issue. Service was pleasant, polite and fast. As for the food, it wasn't great. I ordered the Denver Bagel Omelette Sandwich. It had a cold Asiago bagel with a piece of ham, scrambled egg, green pepper slices and melted cheese. I think the cold bagel with the warm egg and melted cheese threw it off. It was just a weird warm/cold combo and I was expecting a bit of crunch from the bagel, but was left with a soft, blah texture. My wife ordered the Smoked Salmon Classic Bagel Sandwich. She had the same experience. While she expected a cold bagel with hers, she told me her salmon had zero flavor. She was expecting, salt, lemon, something. She ended up eating the bagel and cream cheese without the salmon. The coffee was okay and look, we are not spoiled high class restaurant critics. We just expect that food will have flavor and some thought put into what is being served. We paid $35 for two bagel sandwiches and two medium coffees. The food just wasn't worth a premium like that. Too many other places to try to come back.

A lovely agent moved us to an earlier flight that promptly canceled... then back to our original flight, which was still delayed, but they had a new plane inbound to get everyone out that day. They ordered pizzas to feed the masses & got us home. I can only assume that all the bad things happening that resulted in a good ending was thanks to these small fish shaped treasures blessing us with luck. I'm not even a huge fan of everything bagel flavor but I turned feral after having a bite. I hadn't tried the Nutella flavor during my last visit and it's exactly what I expected. It's Nutella. In a taiyaki. Solid. The strawberry matcha flavor was a new batter that they were trying out and honestly I think they still have a little fine tuning to do with it but I enjoyed the flavor. It wasn't overpowering or overly grassy like lots of matcha flavored items. If you haven't tried this Japanese street food, I highly recommend you stop by on their next pop up! The owners are incredibly kind people that clearly have passion and take great pride in what they do.
