Wow! Finally had the chance to stop in to Blacklist to grab some breakfast and it did not disappoint. We arrived right at open on Saturday morning as they seem to sell out pretty quickly. I would recommend pre-ordering the week leading up if you can't get there early. We went with the BEC on a cheddar everything, spicy boy on a cheddar jalapeño bagel and a hash brown on the side - YUM. The bacon egg and cheese was our winner, but each item was delicious. The everything cheddar might be my new favorite bagel in Grand Rapids! The spicy boy did pack a punch and did live up to the name, with a lingering heat. Those who love spice would be big fans. Set in such a cute area and the interior is a very cute, inviting space. Service was wonderful and inviting as well. Can't wait to be back to try more bagels! read more

I was finally able to walk here this Saturday morning to try Blacklist Bagels! It's run out of Chef Shack, which is a small storefront that rents out to local chefs/businesses. They are only open on Saturdays 8-1pm, and I used to live farther away and it would've been difficult to make the trip to Eastown, but currently I'm walking distance to Lake Dr. It's a small store with about 3 tables inside, so mostly for takeout. I was expecting a line at 9am, but there were only a few people ahead of me! They do open advanced online ordering, which may help with the foot traffic. I ordered 3 bagels - everything, asiago, and za'tar ($8 for 3). They were out of sesame, and I got the last za'tar bagel. I wanted to make my own breakfast sandwich at home, so I didn't try their sandwiches or cream cheese this time. I also ordered a vanilla oatmilk latte from Toro Coffee (~$6), which had a pop-up stand inside as well. The bagels almost look "overbaked/overcooked," but they really just have that nice crispy exterior and fluffy inside that bagels are supposed to have! Being from the East Coast, I've complained a lot about there not being good bagels in Grand Rapids - but this is easily the best spot I've tried! Blacklist Bagels has been operating for a couple of years at different ghost kitchens and popups around town. They're currently working out of the "Chef Shack" incubator kitchen located at 1003 Lake Drive SE, as well as doing popups at local distilleries and some farmer's markets. I saw they posted a hot cheeto bagel which I was really intrigued by, so I ordered some items online and picked them up from their new space in the Chef Shack last weekend. There is some nice indoor seating available at the Chef Shack, so you can eat your bagels there or take them to go. I got the hot cheeto elote bagel, the caprese bagel with prosciutto, and two hash browns. The hot cheeto elote bagel was so good! It wasn't super spicy but I liked the chorizo and the corn was very fresh. The caprese bagel has been my go to for awhile - I love the fresh mozzarella and juicy tomatoes. The addition of the prosciutto was totally worth it and added a nice savoriness. The hash browns are the best! They're similar to McDonald's but better. Be sure to follow them on social media to see where they might be next. Definitely a must try for bagel fans. read more

We enjoyed some bagel sandwiches when we found these guys at the Fulton St Farmers Market. We made sure to arrive early because we heard they run out quickly. Everything on their menu was prepped before hand and was inside a warmer to quickly keep the line moving. I went with the Spicy Boy, and I loved it. It definitely has a kick considering the only ingredient without spice, is the egg. They give you the Ghost Pepper Aioli on the side, which helps to control the heat. The bagels are on the fluffier side but cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We will definitely be back! read more

The Monte Cristo - deep fried bagel, ham, raspberry-Dijon mustard, Gruyère cheese, topped with powdered sugar. Let's start with the bagel. I thought other local bagel shops were already amazing. You can really tell when baked goods are fresh. They just have that immaculate texture and taste. I'm not sure if it was because this one was deep fried but it had this incredible crunch on the outside while being fluffy on the inside. Ham was delicious. No fatty or chewy bits. Gruyère cheese was the perfect choice to complement this bagel. Subtle flavor but it gave it that delicious cheesy texture and mouthfeel. Powdered sugar was more so for looks but added a touch of sweetness that I enjoyed. Lastly, that raspberry-Dijon mustard sauce. I actually didn't know this had Dijon at all when I bought it (I thought it was just going to be a raspberry jam spread) and I kept thinking about how it tasted like honey mustard. Guess that explains it. I think this sauce really tied everything together. It had a tangy raspberry flavor and sometimes you'd get that ever so subtle taste of mustard. It was very creamy too which blended with the texture of the melted cheese. It just works. This was very, very good. I think blacknapkin is going to have some competition for my Saturday food spot. I've always heard/seen Blacklist Bagels around on social media, but have never had the chance to try them until now! I stopped by one of their pop ups at Sparrows and ordered a few bagels. I ordered the veggie sammich (hummus, micro greens, avocado, sliced radish, and fancy salt) on a plain bagel while my sister ordered the pickle pizza bagel (open faced bagel with a ranch sauce base, mozzarella, pickles, parmesan, and fresh dill). The veggie sammich was delicious and I loved the freshness of all the added veggies, especially the micro greens! My sister loved the pickle pizza bagel and said it was one of the best bagels she's had! I'll definitely have to stop by and try out their other tasty options! read more

We've been looking for a great breakfast sandwich in the area and this place delivers! They are operating out of Chef Shack and available on select mornings. My favorite bagel is the jalapeno cheddar! My husband and I both love the hashbrown double-down sandwich on bagel of choice. The dirty Denver is also a favorite. The spicy boy 3.0 was really spicy, I could not handle that one. I tried an everything bagel and it was a little too browned for me. read more

I placed a large order at Blacklist Bagels this weekend and was extremely pleased with the quality and flavor of the bagels. There's a large variety of flavors to choose from; my personal fav is the Asiago. The menu includes bagel sandwiches as well; I tried the Monte Cristo and it was to die for! Donuts are also on the menu and they are playing a nice supporting role; but the bagels are definitely the star of the show. I'll be lone voice of dissent here but these were just not great. The onion one and everything kind tasted like the toppings were burnt. The six pack we tried were all so incredibly dense that they were difficult to chew and eat. The portions of cream cheese were really pricey for the small amount. The checkout makes you feel like you have to tip. Combined with the fact that you have to plan, order and pay ahead, they were just not worth the hype. I'll stick to Bagel Beanery which has a storefront, better texture and more reasonable pricing. On the bright side, they were ready on time and the website was quick and easy. read more

The bagels are seasoned and flavored on BOTH SIDES! They are absolutely delicious! So many flavors to choose from. The donuts are equally as amazing. I'm planning on going back soon and trying the bagel sandwiches. I highly recommend! read more
