Cheddar bagel with regular cream cheese

Adorable quaint bagel shop. They have indoor and outdoor seating and great coffee selections. I had cheddar bagel with regular cream cheese. 10/10 crispy, fresh and it had lots of cream cheese! definitely will be back!

Bellclaire with egg, cheddar cheese, and ham on a plain bagel

I've been wanting to try this bagel place for a while and it was a good experience! I ordered the bellclaire on a plain bagel. I wanted the vegan turkey sausage on it but they were out of that so I ordered it with ham. This was the in lit downside to my experience. The cashier was kind and the other staff made my order quickly. the inside of the bagel shop is cute and trendy with nice decor. I will be coming back soon to try something else on the menu. Definitely a great spot on east GR!

We stopped in for a quick brunch on a Saturday after walking around Reeds Lake. The Manhattan (ham / cheese / cream cheese / lettuce / tomato) sandwich was a perfect little treat! The staff was friendly and efficient, and the space is cute, clean, and there was plenty of seating options available to us when we were in.

We visited bagel kitchen to pick up a late breakfast and ordered ahead for pickup. When arriving our order was ready earlier than expected. We got the breakfast sandwich, one with chorizo and one with bacon. They were very tasty, just a bit smaller than expected. Overall, it's a super cute cafe on a cute street and the ordering process was easy/efficient. They were out of a few bagels and cream cheeses online when we ordered, so I would suggest stopping in earlier in the morning to make sure everything is available.

Lox w/pesto (no cream cheese) on everything bagel

Stopped in for the first time (Saturday lunch on the go). Came out quickly. When I asked about non-dairy cream cheese they didn't have any BUT quickly presented me with their alternatives (vegan butter, out of hummus, or pesto). I really appreciated it! Ingredients were fresh, crisp, and entire "sandwich" was just what I needed. It looks like their coffee/beverage menu is pretty great too, so I'll have to come back. They had a great selection of bagel/sandwich options.

Cranberry walnut bagel w/plain cream cheese Blueberry bagel w/ sweet cinnamon cream cheese Garlic salt bagel w/ chive cream cheese Caramel latte The cranberry walnut bagel was extremely fresh and tasted like a plain bagel with a mild fruity sweetness which was very pleasant. The garlic bagel with chive cream cheese was AMAZING. The bagel itself had a strong initial taste of garlic followed by a nice salty finish. The best way I can describe it is it's like eating a pretzel that has extra salt from the bottom of the bag. The chive cream cheese paired with it really really well. I loved these bagels and would come back again especially considering how cheap they are (only $3!!!).

Located in the downtown Gaslight Village area of East Grand Rapids, Bagel Kitchen is one of the newest spots in the area for a bagel fix. Nate and I were running some errands on a weekend recently and we stopped in for a quick breakfast. The decor inside is bright and cheery, which was great on a cold winter day. They showcase work from local artists inside the cafe, which I always love. The menu includes five sandwich options, hot and cold coffee drinks, 11 bagel flavors, and six spread options. I ordered the Bellclaire with bacon (+$1.50 upcharge) on a cheddar bagel, and Nate got the Ramona on a sesame bagel. The Bellclaire is your basic egg, cheddar, and spread - I went with the recommended chive cream cheese, but I'm sure you could switch it up. The Ramona is a lighter option with cucumber, tomato, lettuce (lettuce not listed on the online menu), and vegetable cream cheese. Our food was made quickly and the presentation was good - easy to take on the go or sit and relax inside. It wasn't too busy so we chose to ate there. I enjoyed the Bellclaire, especially the chive cream cheese which gave it plenty of flavor without being overpowering. The amount of cream cheese was generous, unlike some other reviews I saw. The bagel itself was pretty toasted, a little more toasted than I prefer, but the flavor of the bagel was good. The Ramona was super messy and difficult to eat, with all the toppings sliding around and out of the sandwich with each bite (my main complaint with bagel sandwiches) - a little less spread may have been useful here, or maybe the option to have it on the side would be the way to go next time. While messy, it was still tasty - light and fresh with crisp cucumbers and lettuce. In addition to our bagel sandwiches, we got a drip coffee and a peppermint mocha - both tasty! The peppermint mocha was creamy and not too sweet. They serve locally owned Schuil coffee at Bagel Kitchen. We even bought a bag of discounted holiday blend to take home, which was a fun treat. To be honest, I am not a huge bagel lover, but I'm glad we stopped in and I did enjoy the flavors we experienced - I just prefer a less messy sandwich. If we're in the area again around breakfast, I'd definitely stop by. There seem to be limited breakfast options in the downtown EGR area, so this is a great addition to the city.

When a New Yorker hears about a new bagel joint opening up you KNOW a visit is happening! Bagel Kitchen, in the Wealthy Street foodie enclave, is a bright, cheery space with tin roof tiles exactly like Yonah Shimmel's knish bakery. The 0640 smell of fresh bagels is just the greeting I needed, and the daily brew (this morning, Peak of Andes) is enough to get me through the menu. Sadly, no Nova Scotia lox nor capers to be found; this is a different clientele. (Lots of kids from the nearby high school come by.) Rather than an omelette on a bagel, I opt to go basic - it's all about free bagels, after all. The open-faced everything bagel, toasted well, with chive schemer that arrives (very quickly) is GREAT! Strong flavors, crispy on the outside and soft, chewy, and seasoned inside. I'm savoring the coffee as I write this, and as it cools there absolutely no bitter tang at all; drinkable down to the bottom. Thank you, brewers. Would I prefer the music be NYC local AM station, several copies of the Times be lying around, and lox, capers, Bermuda onions, and herring salad be here too? Of course, but this works too. Highly recommended for morning wake up, and if'n you need a PB&J bagel, the afternoons too!

Stopped in for a breakfast sandwich with my wife and daughter. The menu only has five sandwiches to choose from. My wife and I each got the Bellclaire and I added bacon to mine. Their menu says, "add bacon +7" but that's just the new total, it isn't actually $7 to add bacon, considering the sandwich is only $5.50. The sandwiches were both very good and the atmosphere is a cute little coffee shop with outdoor seating on the sidewalk. The staff was very friendly and our food was ready quickly. My disappoints come from them not having sausage, the bagels are pretty small, and they don't offer any juice or soda that isn't Brixx. I get the whole, "support local" thing but some other options to drink would be great.

Charming little breakfast spot. Stopped in to grab a fresh bagel sandwich. I ordered the Bellclaire. Staff were friendly, food was good and the cafe provided a small hometown feel. Want to go back and try the Cinnamon bites, they looked delicious.

Okay bagels. I've been here twice now. This last time I got the rosemary salt with herb schmear. The bagel was a little chewy and the schmear wasn't that great. Oddly my wife got a garlic bagel with chive soread and her bagel was amazing. Not chewy and good taste. The bagels are certainly the smallest I've ever had from a bagel shop, I venture to say mini bagels. Worth a try for something different. Overall, consider trying

We heard about this cute little place in East GR, and had to give it a try. I was immediately impressed with the staff, who were kind, welcoming, and attentive. We tried the Bellclaire with bacon and the Manhattan bagel sandwiches. The Bellclaire was delicious, but be sure that you pick the everything bagel if you really want a bold, garlicky flavor. I think that's why I loved it so much! My husband really enjoyed the Manhattan too, they aren't stingy with the ham or toppings , so you get a tasty, filling breakfast or brunch. My daughter & son in law tried the cheese bagel and a plain bagel with cream cheese. They were also very happy with the favors. The only reason that I did not give 5 stars, is that the decaf French press was very bland and diluted. If you could carry a nice rich decaf, it would go a long way for those caffeine sensitive customers! I appreciate that it was made fresh though..that's always a plus!

I have been waiting for a bagel company like this for a while to come in the area. Bagel Kitchen is a cute, bagel and coffee shop right in the downtown area of EGR. We ordered in advanced and had it all ready to pick up by the time we were there. The Bellclaire + bacon was good, but nothing special really about it. I loved the onion chive cream cheese as an addition to the sandwich, but it was lightly spread and it seemed to be just a plain bacon, egg, cheese bagel sandwich. The cheddar bagel was AMAZING, and honestly worth the trip for just bagel itself. I ordered a cheddar bagel with veggie cream cheese, and again, there wasn't a lot of cream cheese put on the bagel. I highly recommend putting the cream cheese on the side so you have enough for the sandwich. Also, was hoping to add both ham and bacon to the bellclaire but that wasn't an option when ordering online, maybe it's possible in the store. Definitely worth checking this place out if you love bagels like I do!

The menu is still huge and very overwhelming, but for this visit, I just decided what type of sandwich I wanted (turkey, ham, roast beef, corned beef, pastrami, chicken, sausage, vegetarian, vegan, or salad) and I knew I wanted it grilled. From there I mostly looked at the starred favorite options and went with the #35 Hulihee: Corned beef, pastrami, cheddar, caramelized onions, roasted tomato, garlic mayo on white or wheat. Most of the sandwiches come in half or whole sizes - the half is just a smaller version. For an extra $2 I went with the whole. The menu also includes soup options and salads. They'll give you a table number if you're dining in and then bring your order out to you. The sandwich was toasted and hot, and had a generous amount of meat. I didn't notice all of the other ingredients (I don't think I had any tomato? And didn't really taste a lot of cheddar), but it was saucy and tasty. I really enjoyed this sandwich and I'm glad I went back!

Shop was very loud due to the small space, music playing and people talking but thats expected. For me the cost seemed a bit high. The sandwiches just come on a standard size bread you would make at home and most of the options are just various ways to make a grilled cheese. And while they taste good, they are still $10 or more for a grilled cheese. Same for the soups, they taste good and lots of choices but for the small (12oz) you are still paying $8 or more. Which means even for just a standard grilled cheese and tomato soup you are spending $18 or more so it feels a bit expensive at that point. I had a Ruben (on standard sized bread) and a pastrami soup for $23. Also, no real need to upgrade for a $1 for the roll to come with your soup. Not really anything special about it. But again overall it did taste good on a cold day. Just which the cost was slightly lower and seating didn't feel cramped.

My cousin and I sat at the bar, and you can get full service at the bar. She ordered a hot dog and I had a pizza. The hot dog came with that weird neon relish, in typical Chicago fashion, and was on a poppyseed bun. The fries are crinkle cut, and I don't know what seasoning they use, but it was so good! A little sweetness mixed in with the spices. The pizza was good; thin crust and cut square style like they do in Chicago, which I forgot about and kind of hate. I should've asked for silverware, but didn't. Next time I'd ask for it pie cut instead. The flavor was really good though. It was a bit pricey for what it was - it was a 12" pizza, and each topping an additional $3. $21 just seems high to me for a thin crust pepperoni mushroom pizza. I had draft beer and my cousin had a mixed drink. She had no complaints about hers, and mine was quite good! So many places draft beer tastes a little soapy, whether it's the way the clean their lines or how they wash their glasses, but I didn't taste any of that here. There aren't many choices on draft but was a good variety. They also have a full bar and lots of canned beverage choices. They don't have the healthiest menu, but that's not surprising since they're known for Chicago hot dogs, Italian beef, and pizza. If you know what you're going for it's perfect! The vibe is good. The space is pretty open, gets a decent amount of light, is clean, and there is parking! The restrooms are tiny, but clean, and I appreciate that after you wash your hands the door opens out so you don't have to touch a handle. We went on a Monday after work, which does turn into karaoke night, but we had time for a couple drinks and food before that really got going. It also wasn't crazy in there and we could still carry on a conversation at the bar without having to yell. I'm glad I finally made it in, and fully appreciate having them in the North Monroe area. I will definitely plan to have more happy hours here!

When I walked in, the place was packed. It's a small space, and it was bustling around 1 pm. I was noticed by a kind employee who let me sit at a cozy booth. The menu is huge and includes tons of sandwiches, burgers, wraps, and salads. It was tough to choose but I went with the Irish reuben (grilled pastrami, corned beef, bacon, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, thousand island on marble rye). Sandwiches come with chips, or you can upgrade to fries (regular, sweet potato, or Southwestern dipping fries) - I went with the Southwestern dipping fries, which are seasoned potato wedges. My food came out quickly and I was amazed at the large portions. It was a full basket of fries and a sandwich that would equal two full sandwiches elsewhere. The sandwich was super hot and delicious and packed with meat. I think it's one of the tastiest reubens I've had in awhile. The fries were good, but I think I prefer regular fries. Glad I got to try them, though. They have a daily special where a specific item is discounted, which makes it an affordable option for lunch. I was there on a Tuesday so the special was a spicy fried chicken sandwich or wrap for $12 served with chips or fries. That's a great deal! I will definitely be back for one of their specials. The employees I interacted with were all very friendly and kind and working really hard. I always appreciate good customer service and I found that here. Finally, they serve beer and wine, so if you want a drink with lunch, that is an option as well. The only downside is the small dining area, so I wouldn't say it's great for large groups, and they are only open Monday through Friday for lunch. Luckily I have a flexible schedule, so I'll be back for lunch again soon!
