we popped in on a whim yesterday evening and were seated immediately (group of 4). the restaurant is very pretty, open & spacious. also very clean! i wanted to try the calabrian piadina but they weren't serving it (or my backup choice the carbonara pasta) so the server suggested the erbi pizza which turned out to be a good choice. it was cooked well and had good flavor. another option that my friend wanted was sold out so he had to choose something else, too. our meals came out quickly, though! we came in 1.5 hrs before close on a saturday so i'd go in at an earlier time next time to avoid sold out options. read more

I was excited to try this new, upscale pizza restaurant. Three of my friends and I came here around 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was beautiful, decor was interesting, and the atmosphere was very nice. We were seated at a table on a heated patio. Even though it was a very cold day the heater kept the room temperature very comfortable. Our server did a good job of explaining the menu items. We ordered meatballs for an appetizer. For our meal we ordered two chicken piadinas,, a Calabrian piadina, and a pizza. Unfortunately we were all disappointed with the food. The chicken was dry. The pizza and piadinas all needed more sauce. They were all dry. The piadinas were mostly bread with a small amount of ingredients. We asked the server for a cup of marinara which we shared to add to our piadinas to make them less dry, and to the pizza. It took our server three attempts to get our bill correct. Overall, this was really good, and I would definitely come back. We all loved the cheesy garlic bread with three different dips. (The pesto was amazing!) My husband ordered the Etna pizza because it apparently won an award, and I ordered the Lazio because I love prosciutto on pizza. Both pizzas were very good. I liked my Lazio better than the Etna, but was disappointed by the very skimpy amount of prosciutto. There was maybe a total of half a slice of prosciutto on the entire pizza. It still tasted great. The Calabrian chili gave a nice little kick, but man, I could've used more than a few tiny tid-bits of prosciutto. Cocktails took a long time to come -- over 15 minutes. And the wine list is weird. I like the wine we ended up with, but you have to order somewhat blind because they don't tell you what the actual wine is. I ordered the "Rosso Riserva," which ended up being Cosimo Taurino Salice Salentino. I liked it a lot, and it was fair for the price we paid, but it's just weird that they don't list on the menu what the actual wine is. Black Sheep Pizza opened earlier this month, located in the new mixed-use retail & residential complex in Westfield called Grand Junction Plaza (portions of the building are still under construction as of 12/2025). Our party of four was impressed with all aspects of our visit: Food: The pizza is Neapolitan style, with an excellent char on the crust. They have both red and white sauce options, and we had one of each. The pizza was top notch. Lots of excellent 'signature' cocktails as well. Service: The service was spectacular, proving that a brand new restaurant CAN indeed get this part of the dining experience right, if they just try. I've been to a lot of new restaurants in Carmel, Westfield, and Noblesville this past year that had horrible service, but management has obviously made friendly, prompt service a priority here. Ambiance: The interior of the restaurant is a bit small, but they do take reservations. There is a large bar area, and noise levels were decent. Overall, Black Sheep Pizza gets a very solid thumbs-up from me. This is a food genre (curated, artisan pizza) that has become saturated with competition in this area recently, but they've created something special here. Nicely done. read more

Perfect addition to downtown Westfield. This is a more upscale pizza/Italian restaurant right in the heart of where all the action happens. It's a corner location and you'll easily spot it once you pull down the street. We didn't have an issue with parking, but we were also there late on a week night. It's on the smaller side and there isn't a ton of seating, especially for large parties, but I thought I saw a patio attached too that offered even more space. The inside is moody and trendy. It feels nicer and elevated, but not fancy or stuffy - great job with the design and ambience. Ideal spot to grab drinks with a friend at the bar or for a date night. I know they just opened last week or so, and they're still in the process of learning and getting staff trained. Everyone was friendly and did a great job. Service was quick and the food was fantastic. The Chop Salad was perfect to share and plated beautifully. The pesto vinaigrette was delicious and not overpowering at all. The Brussel sprouts sprinkled in are a perfect addition - definitely would recommend. We also tried the Steak Piadinas which is an open faced calzone with filet mignon. This is big enough to be your meal for sure - the bread is super fluffy and doughy and the meat was great. If you're not in the mood for pizza, I'd also recommend this. We shared a pecora nera pizza too (half with no meat) and it was good! The crust tastes fresh and I love the Neapolitan style that's thick yet still airy and a little charred. Next time we go (for sure we'll go back) I'll try a different pizza - they have multiple unique pizzas that have some interesting combos - A lot to pick from and for all types of preferences. Everything tasted of quality here and you can tell they put a lot of thought and effort into ingredient sourcing and making it look nice. Highly recommend. Stopped for lunch after a long Monon trail bike ride. We sat on the lovely patio on an unseasonably warm March day. We did wait extra long for water to be brought and we had to ask for a cocktail menu, but there seemed to be only one server on duty. We ordered the chopped salad to share. It was huge--enough for 4. Service was outstanding and so was the food! We had an appetizer of meatballs and garlic bread. I shared a potato pizza with my daughter, my husband had the truffled ribeye (cooked perfectly) and my other daughter had the steak bites appetizer (Spiedini) as her meal. We really liked the decor and the atmosphere of the restaurant. The food was a bit disappointing, though. My husband's "Rita" crust was really chewy. The red sauce was super garlicky. He got 3 small blobs of cheese and 3 basil leaves. I ordered the "Erbi" on GF crust. I loved the crust and the arugula, but once again, the other ingredients were minuscule. 3 kernels of corn, 3 small bits of artichoke, etc. If you love garlic and ambiance this place might be for you. Great food, ambiance, and staff. We went on New Year's Eve and the manager said they had only been open 24 days. We loved the salads and the Neapolitan style pizzas. They have more than pizza (including a delicious sounding ribeye), but the 4 of us opted for pizzas because that pizza oven looked legit! (See pics). Here's the amazing part, especially in these days of typical poor, uncaring service: One of our pizzas was burnt on the bottom and one was incorrectly made. Our family doesn't like to complain but when asked, we will tell the truth. The waiter and manager were very apologetic and quickly remade the pizzas. Without our asking, nor expecting it, they comp'ed both pizzas AND at the end of the meal, brought us some delicious tiramisu's for dessert. To me, this was the perfect service. Especially on such a busy holiday night and only being open a few weeks. If they keep up this level of caring and service, they will be so successful! Let me start by saying the aesthetic of the restaurant and the service is excellent. However, this is, after all a pizza place. With that, I have to say the overall experience was a huge disappointment. We got two pizzas and on both, the crust was burned to a crisp, the toppings were pretty much raw, and the cheese was still cold. I think oven management was completely off. Hopefully they will get the kinks worked out because there are way too many good pizza joints around to go back if the quality doesn't improve. read more

We ordered 2 cocktails, both were spectacular. The vibe is great, upscale pizza spot. They even have some long bar seats facing the pizza oven which is cool. Only complaint here is no TVs around the bar which seems like would be the one thing missing. Plenty of other upscale restaurants in the area, think a better bar vibe could separate them. We ordered a 12" Rita pizza and the grilled Caesar salad. HC Tavern had just removed their grilled Caesar from the menu and it was one of our favorites. This one didn't live up to any expectations. It was hot, wilted, and soggy. Would not try again. The pizza was the biggest disappointment. It came out with the crust completely burnt and the toppings were cold, less than ideal combo. We love char on our pizza, but half of this pizza was inedible. The flavor of the pizza was spectacular, just wish it was cooked right. We did save half the pizza that the crust wasn't completely burnt on, took it home and re-heated and it was great. In fairness to the staff, we didn't call out the bad pizza when they asked as we were in a bit of a hurry to get out of there and they had just gotten really busy. We will definitely be back to give it another shot and hope things continue to improve as we know they are just a week in! read more

I implore everyone reading this to absolutely avoid this restaurant at all costs. Do not let your mother in laws or sister in laws talk you into thinking this is a place you want to step foot in....The previous reviews about the service and food quality are not hyperbole and neither is this. This is the worst dining experience we have had in recent memory in indianapolis. Atrocious service and food that is average, at best. Blown away. If there really is a wood fired oven back there, you have to go out of your way to make the pizza they serve that mediocre. Lunch special they served the god damn flavorless arugula salad on top of the f*#ckin pizza....the server never returned for refills and the food took over an hour to come out. Then 20 minutes to get the bill only for her to run it incorrectly to pay for a very large tab for another party. Then another 10-15 minutes squaring that away. The prices they are charging are comical for the service and quality of food you receive. It is painful to have to pen this review. I am a born and bred Hoosier IU graduate. Upland is sacred institution in this state. What they have done with pizza venture in Westfield is an unmitigated failure and it needs to be corrected immediately. Seriously- do not go here. There are way too many high quality dining options established in that area and opening every week to throw away your money at this Italian nightmare. read more

I went to Black Sheep on a weeknight between Christmas and NYE so I think it was a bit busier than a typical weeknight. We had a reservation for the "outside" which was a fully covered patio with a heater. The temperature varied a lot while we sat out there so if you do this, plan to dress in layers. It was very warm (close to 80 degrees) when we first sat down but if the heat was turned off to let it cool down it got cold pretty quickly. Not a huge deal- just a heads up. The inside of the restaurant though is super cute but it is pretty small so I can see why they want to use the patio to maximize the space. Our server Brooke was really great and attentive. I got the "Spaghetti straps" cocktail and it was a delicious and legit craft cocktail. We got appetizers of garlic bread and meatballs. I think it might be the best meatball I've ever eaten. I love the flavor of their red sauce and pesto, very well balanced in saltiness, acid, and sweetness. The pizza was also awesome, their dough is really flavorful and it's a very nice elevated brick oven Neapolitan style. Everything we ate was amazing. We did have a longer wait for food (other reviews recently mentioned this). I believe that since the restaurant is brand new, they are still working out kinks plus it was probably an unexpectedly busy weeknight. We were also told there was an accident with kitchen staff who had to be take to the ER. Luckily we were out for girls tonight and were not in any kind of hurry so we didn't really mind the extra wait. Despite not complaining at all about the time, the manager came out and profusely apologized and gave us a generous discount. In today's world of poor customer service almost every place I go I would give this a 10/10 customer experience. Just acknowledging and taking responsibility for things that go wrong even that are outside of your control goes a long way. I'm giving this 5 stars because even if it wasn't "perfect" I believe good customer service is responding well when things do go wrong. We will definitely be back and I look forward to spreading the word in Westfield about this great new spot! read more
