I tried this place out with my colleagues from the office for lunch. This place wasn't too shabby, definitely wasn't pack for lunch hour either. Everyone order burgers or dogs. While most of us added their stores tots as a side. Parking limited in the front but I believe there is parking in the back as well. I ordered the chili dog loaded with onions and cheese. Again, it wasn't too shabby. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Definitely a great place to bring a group for lunch. My friends stated their burgers may have been to well done as their patties were dry and not juicy they said. I can't believe this was my first time at the lodge! I had been wanting to go for years and never had a chance. I was not disappointed at all. We sat outside on the patio with our dog. There's decent outdoor seating in addition to the interior bar/restaurant. Our service was attentive, and the food came out fast & good. I had the Chicago dog with fries and had leftovers! I was so full, gang. I've had said dog in Chicago MANY, MANY times and I can tell you Black Sheep does a decent job. My boyfriend got a cheeseburger and tater tots. That burger was HUGE! I had a little bite and had to smash it down with my hands to fit it in my mouth. The burger was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Not dried out as some larger burgers can get. He also had the seasonal spike hot cocoa-had a sip and yeah, it was spiked. Black Sheep Lodge is an Austin staple. That said, I don't think I ever made it over until I moved to San Antonio and I'm not sure why. We frequently stop in when we make our way into town. The service it usually really awesome. I think we've been once when our server clearly didn't want to be there or around us, not sure which. This is also a hot spot for sporting events, so plan accordingly because it can get packed! Their burgers are always juicy and delicious. The chicken tenders are my usual order and always crispy and hot. The tater tots are my must have side, but the fries are equally delicious. On my last visit, I decided to try a salad and I was not disappointed. The chicken and avocado salad was topped with a generous serving of nicely seasoned grilled chicken and avocado, and blue cheese. The wings really very delicious, I did ask for them well done so they were crispy. The second time I went I ordered a burger, fried pickles and jalapeños, and the wings again (The wings unfortunately weren't as crispy as they were the first time but they were still good) The burger was delicious and the Fried Pickles/Fried Jalapeños did not disappoint. Black Sheep Lodge please don't ever change. I like you to the way you are and have been for the last 4+ years (since I did a review here). We come here to watch sports, eat good food, and hang out with our 4+ friends in a group all doing the same thing - watching our teams! Seating is first come first serve so find a spot and hold it down while your friends make their way in. Parking is limited in the back but still findable and doable if you try. I always end up finding a spot just when I think I won't. Taking a rideshare over is always my preferred way to show up just because drinks are affordable and if my team is doing well then I will drink more so be responsible and get dropped off right in front off of S. Lamar safely. Cheese curds still slam, Chicago Dog will fill you up, and their burgers are big ones so get ready to chow down. Service is always attentive and great. Our waitstaff were super cool with us and patient as we brought in more friends to join us and had to move to a larger table. They were down to help us find more seating and make room for more company. read more

I always wanted to check out the Black Sheep Lodge and took my wife there for a surprise lunch. First thing I noticed was limited parking where I drive behind this place to see signs saying I could park there. You have to walk back around where to back door was for employees only. They had outdoor seating but was a bit hot so we ventured inside to find a pretty large sports bar. They had all sorts of games to play with a pool table in the back. This place had it. I loved the atmosphere of this place with cool artwork on the walls and the weathered look. I ordered a draft beer and the Bone- In Wings with Ranch Dry Rub. We had great service and soon our order arrived. The chicken wings looks very presentable and smelled great. They were delicious and among the best I had. I was extremely impressed. My wife had a burger and she also said was excellent. I guess from reading about this place they one of the best foodie hangouts in Austin. read more

We came by at lunch today and were pleasantly surprised with top tier service from our waiter, Hunter. Mid-week lunch can be a mixed bag when dining out, but we had prompt service from a happy/smiling employee, who was alert, attentive and friendly. He really made the difference in a regular visit and something that stands out. BSL is a great place to come catch the Astros game with the sound on. They have several areas you can go enjoy the game (even if they have a few dif ones on at the same time). Food was great (had the Buffalo chicken wrap). The only thing that could be better was if it was a tighter wrap. Had to handle carefully to keep it from spilling out, but flavor was on point! Very affordable and surprisingly amazing food for being a sports bar!! My favorite are the wraps or the chicken strips. The ambiance is dark/casual and very neighborhood friendly. I've been here many many times and only had positive experiences until this last Saturday. Our server just had a terrible attitude, was rude and short with us, made us feel awkward/killed the vibes, avoided eye contact, and then made us close out when we weren't ready. He also charged me for ranch when every other time I had been here before I have never been charged for dipping sauces with my chicken strips. Also- we paid and then afterwards he came to tell us that they were out of what we paid for already and did not offer a refund. I never leave reviews because i usually just lets lot of stuff in the service industry go, but thought I'd add a comment for this joint because I've been here before and never experienced this type of ignorance and lack of professionalism in a bar before. After ordering a beer with the server using my unexpired ID that was clipped after renewing at the DMV, she requested my paper Identification. I was more than glad to go grab it from my vehicle, considering I had my wallet and phone stolen recently. After coming back, I decided to order from the bar where I was not ID'd and purchased a beer and closed my tab. After further consideration with the staff, they requested I provide both my identification again to verify my age. Both were valid, I continued drinking and they came back requesting that I return my beer and that they would withhold my Id's and debit card. I finished my beer in front of the "manager" and she in that moment decided to not return my debit card, luckily I was able to retain my ID'd which were both valid, however the unprofessionalism and childish behavior I experience from the staff at black sheep lodge really made me question the cognitive validity of the staff. I was belittled by all the servers and bartenders to believe that I was in the wrong for something they were clearly making an incorrect notion about due to a bias the manager was claiming. I promptly apologize half heartedly for the argument that became of the situation, but they kept my debit card and told me I should call the cops if I wanted to get my card back, thinking none of this was worth my time, I left there with a belly full of beer and an opinion of the staff being brain dead retarded. I get they were just "doing their job" but they were doing it wrong. This place is a hack and they treat their customers poorly due to lack of knowledge and rely on the hierarchy of staff to control the decisions made regardless of fair treatment. Black sheep lodge is not a good business and should reconsider those staffed. read more
