I know Black Rock has been around for a while. Unfortunately, there aren't really any in my area which is a bummer. I took advantage of the area I was in today and was off Broadway. Conveniently, there is a location off of it. Since I have never been in before, I didn't know if it's just a drive thru or if there's actual seating inside the venue. I was on a tight time frame and didn't have the time to check it out. I just opted to go through the drive thru. It was when I was pulling around when I realized you can enjoy your drink inside the joint too. That will be a must do the next time around! I did check out the big drink menu. All sorts of goodies available! But what caught my eyes were all the pumpkin spice options! There was a huge sign with photos of your pumpkin options. Being a visual eater, I was immediately sold on the pumpkin spice chai. It's never too early for pumpkin spice, even if it's 100 degrees outside. So, today I grabbed an iced pumpkin spice chai with almond milk. I was greeted by a handsome smile. He got me all squared away, got my number started for their loyalty program and handed me my drink. My drink looked tasty! I took a sip of that baby and mannnnnnnnn was it good! It tasted like holiday happiness in a cup. It was creamy, sweet and the spices were very noticeable. I love chai but that pumpkin spice added another level of yum to it. The almond milk was thick, it wasn't watered down like some other almond milks I've had. It was perfectly made. The drink is on the sweeter side so if you don't like your drinks that sweet, I would ask for it to be made less sweet. I appreciate sweeter drinks so it was a great first drink from this joint for me. I will have to make sure I stop at Black Rock when I'm around one. They sure did push out a great drink! I normally get iced americanos so this was a nice change. I'll have to try an americano next time but I'm hooked from my drink yesterday. Looking forward to my next pumpkin spice chai from this joint. Especially during the upcoming fall season. read more

Pretty nice getting a FREE drink when signing up and downloading the app. Unfortunately, the drink I got wasn't all that special. I asked for a Iced White Chocolate Mocha and it was mid. Tasted like Milk more than anything. The service was fast and excellent. Not sure of the vibe , I did not go inside. The drive thru is in the alley which is a bit odd. read more

I love coffee.. lol I of course had to try this place. The girls were great and attentive. So service was on point. They sell these donut holes in a cup that were super convenient for the kids. ButThe only thing that was kinda like wow.. was how the whole drive thru set up is. It's like in this little circle and the way traffic was. Was terrible. People had to back up and move to let the cars coming out go. So if you're in a rush, this wouldn't be the place to go. But if you're looking for something new to try and have time to wait then go for it. Oh yeah pricing was reasonable as well. read more

This was my first time visiting Black Rock Coffee Bar and I liked the vibe inside! It's a small, free-standing coffee shop with a drive-thru that looks very new and modern inside. I ordered a medium-sized ice latte with a dribble of chocolate sauce, which came out to somewhere in the range of $5-6 (+tax) - it was a little more than I wanted to pay, however the M size seemed pretty big to me anyway. The taste was as I expected for a latte with the extra sweetness from the chocolate! They also offer hot and iced premium drinks like their Iced Mexican Truffle or Hot Caramel Blondie (a caramel white mocha). There are also coffee-less drinks to choose from. Personally, I would akin their selection of drinks and drive-thru to that of Dutch Bros and like other large coffee shop chains, they do have an app to order and a loyalty program. Delivery and pick up are also available. If you want coffee on the go and want another coffee chain to go to besides Starbucks or Dutch Bros, consider coming here. I have been wanting to try a different coffee place for a while now. Then I realized that we do have another coffee place other than Dutch Bros and Starbucks. I found Black Rock Coffee Bar on Broadway. For the most part I am pleased. What I dislike is the lack of space at the drive through. I entered in a spot that seems like the exit. Broadway does create a challenge to enter or exit any business, so they cannot help this. I received good, energetic service when placing my order. When I was driving up to the window it was a tight squeeze and you can tell that other people struggled because there are these huge scrapes on the side of their building. I mean, it is Idaho and many people drive vehicles intended to drive up hills and haul stuff. Why limit the space? Luckily, I have a car that can manage this situation. Just a work of caution if you drive a big truck. The staff is pretty quick. As soon as I placed my order they already had my coffee ready. I loved my drink; it was better than Starbucks. read more

A little confused on the current tea special that you are having from Jan 18-22!....I ordered a Med Chai Tea Latte, states on ads, mediums are to be $2.00, am I incorrect? I was charged $3.22 with a topping of whipped cream, I was charged $1.00 extra for whipped cream???? And are we to be asked if we have a phone number attached? Do we still earn points for buying drinks, snacks, etc.? I'm a little lost on any loyalty points we may earn for a possible free drink???? While I did get a fantastic tasting drink, their customer service was not that great. First the drive thru mic supposedly did not work but when I drove past it the car behind me got service. From what I heard (becuz the customer behind me kinda shouted at the mic) she was a regular there and the guy speaking on the mic knew what she wanted Then when I asked to use my free drink reward the employee there still asked for my card for my rewards (when they could've just asked for my phone number) and I got charged for it. The reason why is becuz the drink I ordered was a summer drink that they were having a special on ($1 off). We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the black rock coffee bar cool logo cool vibe fireplace to sit beside. However we found the coffee to be normal, nothing really that special, my drink was not that strong compared to other coffee shops, thus my four star rating. I don't know that I would come back just for the coffee or make a habit of going, but I enjoyed the atmosphere and the creative design of tables, rollup doors, outside area. read more

We solved the split lid mystery. The mct oil used in the Bulletproof coffee, eats through the lids. We tested by ordering just regular coffee with heavy whip instead of bulletproof. After 15 minutes, no splits. Made it back to the office with the lids intact! read more

I figured going inside would be faster since the car is outside was wrapped around the drive-through. I had placed my order before other cars had even gotten to the drive through menu and those other cars were getting their drinks before me. I went to BR this morning after a wonderful hike with my bff, Joanne, and she ordered a blended americano. Seems pretty simple, but apparently wasn't for them. They tried to charge her FIVE dollars for coffee and water blended together!! Stopped here on a Saturday morning @7:15 on our way out of town b/c we thought we'd try something other than Starbucks. Big mistake--at least if you're actually using the drive-through window. We waited for almost 30 minutes--for only 3 cars ahead of us!! This while we saw people walk in, get drinks, and walk out again in under 5 minutes! We would have done the same if we could get out of the lane... but we couldn't, b/c it was a loop of landscaping. When we got to the window, we saw only 3 people inside... 3 people, on a Saturday!! The service was friendly, but no apology for the wait. Don't go unless you're willing to give away half an hour of your life... and to top it off, my $4 mocha didn't have actual chocolate in it--they used chocolate milk!! And my husband got a regular coffee w/cream, which seemed like it had more cream than coffee. I always see them working hard when I come in, but today I happened to come in and do some homework while the espresso machine was down. They were super accommodating and did the best that they could to make my friend and I along with the other customers happy. This review is for the atmosphere not for the coffee. I love the coffee at black rock. Sure it's not real coffee just sugary "coffee" in a cup. I enjoy their Caramel truffle or caramel blonde. This store to me is just really unprofessional it's 24-7 employee social house almost like a frat house. To me it's rude when all your off the clock employees come in the whole night getting free drinks/treats for themselves and their buddies while you are paying full price. I get it love your job yet to me their front facing bar arena is constant social hour with off clock employees. The employees come in when not working and conduct long loud conversations lots of work drama, fbombs/cussing and overall life drama that I didn't really come to the coffee shop to hear all night. It's really unclassy to me to come into a coffee shop that has great coffee yet the atmosphere is very odd and takes away from the feel of it. Black Rock is the only coffee shop I actually enjoy the coffee from. They are always super friendly and are very appreciative when you tip. they also give a student discount if you're a BSU student and do rewards. I get a free coffee every so often. only thing I would say is the drive thru speaker box is 90% of the time broken. you have to wait till you get up to the window to order. it slows things down a bit but I don't really mind. read more
