Yummy drinks - peach ginger & berry teas
Vala R.

We went during LBFSW and got the 3 course meal. We all picked the Clam Chowder and it was really delicious. I had the Chorizo Empanada which came with 2 yummy sauces. Again - delicious. The Entree was a short Rib with mashed potatoes. Beef was incredibly tender. Food was 5 stars. Service was also great. Order at counter and food was brought to us. Funky little location, but a great LB find. I forgot to mention , they have a fun selection of Ice Teas - peach/ginger was bomb. Parking was easy on the street.

So much flavor! I had two pork belly tacos, one mushroom taco, and one shrimp taco. If you're hungry then four was the perfect amount since they're small. My favorite was the shrimp followed by the pork. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and sitting on a bed of cheese which I didn't expect. The spicy mango salsa complimented it perfectly. They also provided an amazing green salsa too but I used it sparingly not wanting to cover up the flavors. If you're a shrimp fan these tacos are a must. Since pork is in their name I had to get the pork belly. The meat was melt in your mouth tender and delicious but the skin was really hard to bite through. I used a knife to cut it up which helped. I wish it had more of a chicharron texture but I still loved them. The mushroom one was my least favorite. It was good but not much flavor. The green salsa came in handy for that taco. To drink I tried the "guava and spices" iced tea. She made this to order and I was blown away by the flavors. Service was friendly and the restaurant had counter, tables, and patio seating. Parking is nonexistent. Zero parking at 10:45am. Had to park in a residential area around the corner. I truly loved the food and will definitely be back. They had an interesting variety of choices on the menu from chillaquillas to porchetta with mashed potatoes.

Not what you would expect for the location. I was looking up burgers in Long Beach when I came upon Black Pork. I actually didn't even look at where it was located, and I assumed it was closer to the dtlb area. I wanted to try the burger with the black bun, but there were out of the bread and were currently making some more. Instead, I tried the chicken sandwich, and it was so good. First of all, it's HUGE. And gorgeous. It's truly Instagram worthy. That and the fries in the gold bowl. They really have their presentation down. I wasn't even that hungry, but I ended up eating every last bit of it. Now I want to go back and try something else.

The beet salad.

I finally tried Black Pork yesterday for lunch with my friend. The whole experience was wonderful. We had the guacamole with puerco, an Asada taco, a chicken empanada, a black salad and a beet salad. That would've been enough by itself, but I also got a cheeseburger with mashed potatoes. All of the food was fantastic. I also had a latte which was very good as well. The owners, Veronica and Luis, could not have been nicer. I originally wanted to try the spinach salad, but they were short on ingredients. Luis made a tiny spinach salad for me so I could taste it. It had caramelized pears and cranberries, and a delicious dressing. I will let the photos of the food speak for themselves. At the end of the meal, Veronica brought us each empanada. They were banana and dulce de Leche. They were heavenly and a great end to a wonderful meal.

A small neighborhood restaurant with limited space but food packed with flavor! Love their cute restaurant front and decor inside. Ordering is simple and service feels like you're getting a home cooked meal. The wait for food wasn't long but you know that your food is being cooked fresh since you kinda have an open view of the kitchen. I always gravitate towards chilaquiles when available on the menu, especially empanadas and tacos. Everything we ordered had good flavor and by the end of our meal, we were pretty stuffed. Give this spot a try!

This was my first time at Black Pork (I've been wanting to go for a while) and finally got to try them out during Long Beach Food Scene Week. They had an affordable three course meal that really gives you the chance to experience their food & service. If you've never been (like me), you order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. I arrived around 5:30 for a later lunch/early dinner and by about 10-15 minutes later all the indoor tables were full. I tried the mango & spice iced tea and fell in love. That's saying something because I usually don't like flavored iced tea but this one doesn't fall into the pitfalls so many do. It wasn't overly sweet and didn't have that fake fruit flavor to it. Whatever the "spice" was also added a nice depth to the flavor. I honestly started googling mango spiced ice tea at my table to see if I could find a recipe to recreate this at home. The mussel starter was quite good. I found them a little overly salted but not to the point where it impinged upon my enjoyment of them. Empanada: The outside was perfectly crisp and bubbly without tasting/feeling oily. I had the chicken and liked both of the sauces with it. Korean BBQ & Mashed Potatoes: So good. The person at the table next to me was complaining to his dining companion that the mashed potatoes weren't smooth but I enjoy a good chunky mashed potato and these were so flavorful. Scoop up a bit with each bite of meat and you have a winning combination. Service was very friendly and quick. Super happy to have finally experienced Black Pork.

The food here was incredible. Great flavor, quality, and presentation while being affordable. We had the beet salad, mussels, pork belly skewers with mashed potatoes, and criollo shrimp. My favorite was the criollo shrimp and beet salad but they were all hits. The establishment is small and casual which is in itself an appeal since you can enjoy a high class meal in flip flops. It's an order at the counter set up but they bring out the food to you. The woman (I believe she is the owner) who took our order was SO patient, helpful, and attentive. She mentioned they make all of their teas and syrups in house so will definitely need to try it out next time I go.

Fantastic food and excellent service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh. We'll definitely be back!

Today I tried Black Pork's food week tasting menu and omg. The service was great and everyone was so kind. Now this menu felt like I was eating at a Michelin star restaurant. The portions were perfect and everything tasted so good. If you can come this week and try this menu I would 100% recommend it. (I took a bite of the rib and ate half the empanada which was too good.)

Delicious and savory food! I went in last week for take out and phone ordered 3 empanadas.. to my surprise they gave me 3 extra as Veronica said they had a BOGO deal on empanadas that day. They were all flavorful but my favorite were the pork and papas con chorizo. Then the sauces they give you to go along are just chefs kiss! I previously dined in with my husband during LBFS week and I still haven't gotten over the curry mussels, so tasty and full of flavor! In addition to the BOGO deal on the empanadas Veronica and I had a heartwarming conversation. It felt as I was talking to a comadre I had known for years! Good vibes and delicious food.. what more can you ask for? Can't wait to return. Thank you for your hospitality Vero!

Where do I even start about this restaurant?…read more The atmosphere? Welcoming and friendly. The food? Let's just say I was contemplating what dish I wanted to try next WHILE eating my meal- incredible and fresh! I ordered the Butifarra Sandwich, Lomo Saltado, and a PB&J Latte. Butifarra Sandwich: flavorful and super satisfying. It was tender and the bread was soft AND crunchy? Amazing. The yucca fries were a perfect accompaniment. Lomo Saltado: it just hit the spot. This felt like eating a home cooked meal in the very best way. Wholesome and flavorful and fresh! PB&J Latte: this was a cheeky choice for a weekend treat and I was NOT disappointed. Smooth and sweet without being overly sweet thoroughly impressed me. It was pure comfort in a cup. I've been dreaming about this restaurant since trying it for the first time.

Both were really good and very filling--definitely didn't leave hungry. The house-made ham was a standout, and the Chimu chicken has a great specialty seasoning. It came with a side sauce that was really flavorful; I love spice, so if there was any heat in it, I couldn't really tell, but the flavor was definitely there. Next time I'll ask if they have a Rocoto sauce for a bit more kick. Solid spot for authentic Peruvian flavors and huge portions. I'll be back.

The curry and beef stew were also huge surprises. The curry was delicious, and beats most curries I've had at my favorite Thai places. The beef stew was really special, and to me tasted almost like "concentrated" pho. Like if you took pho, but just made it 10x more dense in flavor. If you like pho, I think you'll absolutely love this. The prices are outstanding as well. I can get several entrees here for $30-40. Overall, highly recommend!

I noticed most people got their food to go. My husband and I ordered the fish sauce chicken banh mi and from their new items menu, a crispy pork spring roll. Once we got our order, you can automatically smell the fish sauce chicken banh mi. If you're not fond of the fish sauce scent, it might turn you off, but I like it lol. The banh mi was very flavorful and the fish sauce gave the chicken that umami. The banh mi had a good amount of filling and ratio of meat to veg. From the new item menu, we tried the crispy pork spring roll. I love the texture of the spring roll cos you get that soft texture from the wrapper and veg inside as well as the soft, white meat from the pork. Then you get a crunchy texture (my favorite kind of texture to a meal). You get the crunch from the crispy pork skin and inside there is some sore of fried element, maybe a fried egg roll wrapper? I also ordered a Thai iced tea with boba. The drink was good. Not too sweet and the boba had good texture. It wasn't too chewy or too soft. The prices here are reasonable, so it's definitely work a try.

There were some additional umami flavors in the savory sauce and the handmade gnochetti are amazing. Was tempted to take some fresh spaghetti home, but I'll be back later this week to pick some up!
