My teammates and I had a bout against the local derby team, North County Derby Alliance, and this was the after party. Great spot in a bit of an industrial area. Tons of street parking and a small lot. The venue itself is big. Lots of seating and lots of choices. The vibe is my fav. Dogs are allowed inside too! They have a food truck outside, so you can order food and go in. Lots of beers to choose from. I got the In My Darkest Sour, the pink guava one. It's a sour, but I thought it was light and crisp. Really good. Tried the other version of it, which was a berry one, and I thought that was good too. Overall, great spot! Staff didn't realize we were a big party, but they made it work and were super nice! Love the theme. I bought some cool shirts they sold too. read more

I've always heard of Black Plague but really didn't know much about it. One of my guys was telling how great it is and that I need to check it out. So I went and they had good old Metal Bugers outside grilling up some delicious burgers. I was sold on Black Plague just for having Metel burgers. Now on to the beer. I love a delicious hazy IPA and man oh man do they have some here. My favorite is the Nyjah, The Hazy Scandal, and In the Darkest Sour. I need to come here more often especially knowing that Metal Burger is here! read more

I went to the brewery for a painting class. Ordered the lightest beer and it was very good. Staff was very friendly and the ambiance is great. The only reason I scored down one is that it is hot. I mean totally muggy, sweaty on a hot day. Be great to open a back wall and get some cross ventilation. I walked outside during the class and there was such a great breeze outside. Not the fault of the brewery but the lighting for a painting class is poor. Otherwise, great place to hang out and it's dog friendly. read more

i've been coming to the oceanside location since november 2021. black plague is my go to brewery and a favorite for good beer and good vibes. i live in riverside county and i will make the drive to bring my friends, relatives and sometimes myself to unwind with a gothica [mexican lager] or their daywalker [red ale]. also, their food vendor full metal burger's alway's hits the spot when you start to get hungry and goes well with BP's beer. also, this location has plenty of tv's to watch some sports. i still need to check out their other locations, but i highly recommend this brewery. read more

The Bartenders here are awesome!! The beer is insanely good!! The Hyjah Hazy IPA is the best and so delicious!! Sometimes they have live music and the acts are always excellent!! I was very, very impressed with Black Plague. The decor is incredible, with skeletons, coffins, a giant guIllotine, and other spooky features. It's like a beery Haunted Mansion. The decor is kind of terrifying but in a fun way. The place itself is enormous with mile high ceilings. The beers are extremely well-made. They emphasize IPAs but they also do lagers (a rarity in the craft brew world), ales, stouts, sours, etc. I'm not a huge IPA guy but the Tony Hawps was pretty dead-on perfect for the IPA style. You can get a flight of 5 tasters for 10 bucks. That's a steal. We probably tried 9 or 10 different tasters and really enjoyed almost all of them. I was particularly impressed with their sours and the Gothica Mexican Ale and the wife loved the Samoa Cookie, which was very heavy on the coffee flavor. That stuff is pure motor oil but it has its fans. Check out their calendar for food and music events. They've got a nice stage for bands and it appears they regularly have live music and food trucks or other food vendors. They are kid-friendly, too, and there are some full-size arcade games and one pinball machine available. There's a reason they get so many 5 star reviews. read more

This is hands down the best brewery in SoCal. Not only Is the ambiance unique, but the employees are super friendly and helpful, and the beer is excellent quality. Most breweries in SoCal are either on point with their ambiance and have mediocre beer or great beer with mediocre ambiance. Black Plague is well worth the hour drive. Business operating during the pandemic, "thank you" Review #50 Black Plague Brewing offers an extensive selection of cleverly named beers (like the skeleton skateboarder on the Grim Ripper label -- it's all about marketing, right?) that's heavily skewed toward lagers and, most especially, IPAs. I'm more of a dark brew kinda guy, the legacy of teenage-years filled with disappointing fizzy, yellow beers) and enjoyed the MEDUSA (an imperial milk stout) enough to buy a hoodie. spacious, aircraft-hanger sized interior. most of the tables were full on a late Friday afternoon. because my son's underage, we ate our Heavy Metal Burgers outside. easily readable menu board of beer offerings is posted over the bar that runs nearly the entire length of the room. the folks I met who worked there were courteous and engaging. parking's a challenge. Black Plague's in a light industrial area and the neighbors are VERY possessive of their parking. there's an abundance of signage warning dire consequences if you use their spots. there's limited street parking but don't be shocked if finding somewhere to leave your car involves a hike. I was giving Wyatt a history lesson about plague doctor's bird masks (they figure prominently in Black Plague Brewing's iconic imagery -- Flagellants must feel left out) and generally making fun of people who thought the earth was flat long ago enough you can't blame the silliness on the National Enquirer or Fox News when I remember the wisdom of the Mass of Separation: "I forbid you to ever enter a church, a monastery, a fair, a mill, a market,​ or an assembly of people. I forbid you to leave your house unless dressed in your​ recognizable garb and also shod. I forbid you to wash your hands or to launder anything or to drink at any stream or fountain​ unless using your own barrel or dipper. This place was fun! Hidden in between a bunch of business you'd never know this place was here! They only have street parking, no parking lot. First walking in and I was blown away and how large the space was. Plenty of seating for everyone! The vibe of this place is unique and very fun. They had a great beer list, lots of IPAs which are my favorite. They even have a spot on the bar to set your beer to keep it cold. Now that's awesome! They also have merchandise to purchase as well. They do not serve food but they always have food trucks/catering outside for purchase. I came here for trivia night and it was a blast! The crowd is great and everyone made it fun! The staff is also very friendly and welcoming. The only downside was they did not honor my yelp check in for 20% off. I would recommend showing them the check in when you close out, so they don't forget to add it. I showed them when I ordered my first beer and it wasn't taken off when I got my final receipt. It has been a minute since I've been to Black Plague. I have to say that they have improved immensely. Especially their beer! Last time I was here they had one IPA that they just added different flavors to on the menu. Now they have nearly every type of beer! I dipped into both of their sours. Loved the guava sour so much and have been thinking of it since. The inside has remained the same. It's huge and has plenty of different seating. Hands down my favorite brewery in San Diego! I may be biased because I absolutely love the dark/death theme they have going on but I was impressed with everything else as well. They have a large selection of beer and a food truck/tent that changes on different days. I always get The Offering because I love hazy IPAs but I've sampled a few of the others and I was not disappointed. They are dog and kid friendly which makes it the perfect place to stop on a weekday for a couple drinks. If you're looking for some night time fun the Black Plague doesn't disappoint either! On weekends they usually have live music and I've never had to pay a cover to enjoy! Extra things that are awesome: they have a great selection of clothing/swag, they have games such as corn hole, foosball, jenga and more, they have a bunch of cool photo ops around, and there is a large projector which they play sports or other things on. I love this brewery. It's so uniquely themed. The IPAs and Ales are so good here. I recommend the guava sour, tropicus ipa, and tony hawps nirvana ipa. I love how there is lots of fruit notes on a lot of the beers so it's not too hoppy tasting. Also they have some really nice merch here. I'll be coming back again soon, second time here!
