David is wonderful! We stopped by to get our glasses tightened, and David made the experience wonderful. It started with his greeting and offer of water on a hot Texas day and ended with glasses tightened to perfection. Thank you again, David. read more

This is a review of the online shopping experience from Black Optical. I was able to acquire a pair of limited run Jacques Marie Mage sunglasses from the Dallas location. Black Optical - Jacques Marie Mage Lankaster in Beige color - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - Dallas, Texas

I came in here with my two neighbor friends, who couldn't find what they wanted at Warby Parker the day prior. Effy, an associate here at Black Optical was working closely with other clients when we arrived but assured us she'd be with us shortly while we perused the diverse selection of options. After an hour and a half, Effy was still serving us with the same level of enthusiasm as when we first walked in. This was a slow day but I really appreciated the customer service and patience Effy gave us, which wasn't easy. I'll definitely be coming back when it's time for a new pair of sunglasses for myself. read more

He is truly an expert and knows every detail about each frame. I highly recommend booking an appointment with him. The team at BO, especially Green, were amazing in helping me find what I needed! Will definitely go back to them in the future.

Great customer service (Green helped me out) and excellent selection. I picked up a new pair of Mykitas to replace the ones I've been wearing for the past 8 years. They were patient with my contemplation and I'm really happy with the pair I have! read more

Not sure who answers the phone but terrible etiquette. Just said hello and paused and I had to ask "is this black optical?" I also called twice prior and no one answered. I was recommended here but it seems they may be to great of a company for my business. They also don't accept vision benefits. Hard pass. read more

This place has a lot going for it, but the prices are quite high. Pros: + Amazing selection of frames + Unique one of a kind + Great knowledgeable staff + helpful Cons: - Pricey - I would have otherwise given this place 4 stars. It's just that they don't take insurance and that they are extremely extremely expensive. read more

If you know me, you know that my glasses are basically a part of my body, so when my favorite/main pair broke and I lost the screw I was worried I would have to replace the frames completely. Coincidentally my favorite pair of prescription sunglasses also went through the same misfortune during my latest vacation. I searched for optical repair in Yelp and this place popped up as the closest to me, so I popped in. This is one of the cutest optical shops I've seen in Dallas. Modern decor with an cozy ambience accompanied by a warm greeting from Lisha the Optician working that day. I showed her my frames and she was optimistic that she could repair both of them. While she worked on my glasses I perused the multiple options of glasses they had on the walls. It was an array of quirky, geometric frames to more traditional ones, with an additional wall of luxury frames. So many cute options, that I'm certain anyone can find a pair they'd love. In less than 20 minutes Lisha presented me with my fixed glasses. I was so grateful she even cleaned and tightened them as well. And all of it free of charge! Service was friendly, speedy and great and when I'm in the market for new frames next year, I'm definitely coming back to Black Optical. read more

Walked in to look for a new pair of frames for prescription glasses. Although the store was empty, I was questioned on if I had an appointment. The sale person proceeded to follow me around the store, staying within two feet of me at all times. She effectively ran me and my wife out of the store. It was an uncomfortable experience. read more

This place seems mostly about making the sale first and foremost, even if it means costing you additional trips later. Lisha did not disclose that my lenses might have a thick frosted edge and that the transition lens wouldn't darken enough to hide my eyes. I had to make two additional trips to fix these issues. Other places polished them at no charge without even asking. On the two follow up visits, the associate didn't even offer an apology in regards to the situation. She was trying to make a sale to someone else during one of the appointments. The purchase of an expensive pair of glasses should leave you feeling very happy--not an uncared for and frustrated customer. read more

Let's get this out of the way right at the start: the frames that are sold at Black Optical are unique, high-end frames, and they are priced accordingly. Just know that going in. So, why go to Black Optical? Two reasons: 1) Style -- You're not going to find these styles at your big-box optical store. These are unique and beautiful and you'll be blown away. 2) Service -- Here's where Black Optical shines. Their customer service is unsurpassed. I've had occasion to work with Lisha, Deanna and Yen at the Dallas store at various times and they all provided superb care. "I want this; I want that; can you do it this way; can you find me this?" No matter what I wanted or asked for, they were always quick to help and to work with me. This is the reason you go to Black Optical -- you want those glasses to look and feel just right, and they deliver on that. read more

Best selection of glasses and sunglasses in DFW. I've been shopping here since 2018 and have gotten 1 pair or Mykita optical glasses and 2 pairs of Jacque Marie Mage sunglasses. The service is always impeccable most recently Brittany helped me get a pair of JMM glasses and her knowledge and experience was top notch. Any time I have an issue with fit or if I need my hinges tightened they're always available to help. read more

Came here for a Yelp Elite event but in the market for new glasses. The prices are steep but the staff was incredible. I thought Yen was great and meeting the owner was a nice treat. The have some very simple and elegant designs which are practical and whimsical so they don't look standard and like everyone wearing the same style. There isn't really a gender specification so you can get whichever style feels right for you! I saw some geogeous designs from Germany and Japan and really liked the light weight functionality. Some wicked cool sunglasses as well. The best part is that you can use your FSA dollars! Don't let it go to waste, treat yourself. They will do a fitting and adjust the lenses for you. It doesn't take that long to get them and they can even deliver the ready pair to you if you don't have time to stop in. The customer service in store was great and made me feel comfortable. I told them what I was looking for and what they thought would fit my frame and they would give me 2-3 choices from all over the store which is great because it shows they know their inventory. I will be back soon to buy my new glasses! read more

Excellent and fast service, they repaired my glasses in no time flat. The owner was very professional as well

I really like this shop. They always have a great selection of unique frames, and the staff is super knowledgeable. Yen and Lisha are great at what they do and have always been helpful. I never get bs feedback here; they always lay it out there. If something doesn't look right on my face, they say so! I've also been very happy with all the prescriptions they've filled. The saying you get exactly what you pay for is true! I was the queen of two pairs for $100 but could never see and always had headaches. I also had to carry around two to three different pairs of glasses to wear at different times during the day. Black Optical changed all that! They use technology to measure your eyes and the result is absolutely perfect progressive lenses!! I LOVE this place!! The staff are so friendly and welcoming! What a wonderful experience! Whether you're in need of prescription eyeglasses, designer Rx sunglasses, or both... this high-end optical boutique has an uniquely curated selection of eyewear to compliment any face shape. My experience was very personable. Yen and Orlando who where the opticians on duty were very accommodating and knowledgeable about their frames. They each made great recommendations on different styles I should try on. The owner Gary, was also super hospitable! He offered to clean my personal frames as I continued to try on others. He's been in the business for years, so it's legit to say that Gary is a optical connoisseur. Not only is he passionate about the business, he's equally passionate about providing his clients with great eyewear design. Black Optical is definitely a trusted brand when it comes good style, service, and quality. The selection of frames were impressive and the best I've ever seen. I was easily able to find frames that I actually really liked. Also, FSA is accepted and depending on your insurance you can file for a reimbursement up to $120 on your prescription lenses. If you aren't convinced already to schedule your visit... just take a look at my stylish selfie inspired photoshoot. read more

Gary & Yen are all the things! Yen greeted me & was super knowledgeable about everything prescription, protection & even aesthetic for my eyes! I am obsessed w/facts & Yen brought her "A" game as she told me about her recent seminar experience where she expanded her expertise in a field she's been in for years (IMPRESSIVE). They offer transitions (where the script can go from regular to sun protection in a couple min, blue light anti-glare, etc.). I was blown away by this cute boutique style shop. The owner actually strolled in while I was there & offered his advice for my eyes. It's RARE to find a place like this where people actually CARE about what they're doing & expand their education by going to seminars. I can't wait to go back & pick out a pair of shades that not only make me feel great but give me peace of mind while wearing. Thanks Black Optical team for being authentic & real in a world that's tragically being depleted of such. read more

Bought a pair of Barton Perreira sunglasses online. Although it took a while for it to get here (weather related issues), I was assured that it wasn't lost as I was able to track it by the tracking number they gave me.
