I've already left one review about this company before and now leaving another one. Since the last review that I made I had ordered a shift boot for my car because my buddy had a BFI knob laying around that he gave me. The shift boot surprisingly did show up at my house and it's a very nice shift boot but i honestly don't think it's worth close to the 100 dollars they want. After I got the shift boot i decided i didn't like it with the knob my buddy gave me so i tried ordering a new knob thinking maybe I'm not going to get the run around from the company again, but I did so I decided to just cancel the order completely and not give my business to this company again. The way they run there website is awful they don't update on what is in stock and out of stock so your playing a whole guessing game, they say to give them a 2 week manufacturing time which is fair and can understand but you will still end up waiting 2 months before hearing an update about it if you are lucky. You would think that a company that says they love the car community especially the VW community and wanting to help complete your build would be easy to work with but they are not. So now I have a BFI shift boot laying around that I can't do anything with because guess what it only works with there shift knob and adaptors. Does not stand behind their workmanship. Ordered a set of MK7 control arms with solid bushings installed. BFI says its their bushing and they come pre installed. It is nice not to have to press them in myself. Not 4 months later, the main rear bushing came pressed out of the control arm. The original arms lasted 7 years. So much for a product that claims "In addition to the added performance benefits, the solid rubber bushings will last longer than the original OE style as they cannot tear and fail as the factory design is prone to doing. If your car has anywhere near 50k+ miles on it, then you will surely benefit from this simple upgrade!" Was told this was not covered under warranty from a supervisor even though they offer 1 year for defect and workmanship. So with the $300 for their control arms, shipping to hawaii, installation, and now new control arms from another source, shipping to hawaii again, and installation I am out quite a bit of money for trusting BFI. I should have just pressed the bushings in myself instead of trusting BFI's expertise. Nothing like tossing a new set of control arms in the scrap bin. If you are going to buy anything be aware there is no warranty, even on vital suspension components. Order from a different supplier if possible. read more

AVOID THIS COMPANY. Their customer service is severely lacking, and they are unresponsive to simple emails. Phillip Perry, specifically, has been extremely difficult to work with and does not belong in customer service or sales. I purchased a shift knob for my VW GTI MK6 with a 6-speed coin, along with a boost gauge, oil pressure gauge, and brake pads that were on sale. After placing my order, I was informed that the sale prices on these items were supposedly a "system error," and I'd have to pay full price. After a frustrating back-and-forth, I reluctantly agreed to just move forward with the shift knob (should've known better). Weeks later, the shift knob arrived without the 6-speed coin... How did I know something like this was going to happen. When I reached out to customer support again, I was met with no resolution, despite my invoice clearly showing the 6-speed coin was part of my order. They simply just do not care once they have your money for subpar knob.. TRUST THE REVIEWS. PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY. They appear more interested in profit than in providing genuine service to the Euro enthusiast community. I will NEVER buy or recommend BFI ever again to anyone. First time to Black Forest Industries. I typically order on line but happened to be in the area. It's not a large showroom but certainly what you would be looking for parts for your Volkswagon, Audi, BMW, Porsche, and Minis. They do installations as well. I went in for a shift knob. The sales person was excellent. Helped me immediately and was extremely helpful. I appreciate customer service like that! Worst company I've had to order from. Unfortunately for me they have the only decent quality shift knobs on the market. But their customer service is horrendous, their honesty is non existent. Took a total of 14 weeks for my shift knobs to arrive when they said in writing and I have the emails to prove that it should have taken a few weeks. It was always " oh next week" and then that turn in to the next week until finally it became 14 damn weeks. How about just clearly state that the item is a back ordered item or made to order therefore no exact time frame will be given. Further more, they don't even throw in express shipping. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DAMN COMPANY!!! I seen all negative reviews, but still decided to place some orders and regretted of it. Their level of responsibility is the worst ever!!! I made two orders. The first one wasn't fully assembled, they sent it partially without saying anything, and then when i called them and said that this is not full order, they sent the missing parts later. Okay, that happens. But it got worse. I made a second order at the beginning of May (by the way, there is no information on their website about having to wait months for a part, at all.) A week after placing the order, I tried to contact them to check the status. I sent emails and made calls for a WHOLE WEEK. No response at all. Finally, after a week, domeone responded the phone call, and they said they were at some event whole Last week, thats why they did not respond on my calls. Ok, but it would have been nice to at least respond to an email (the order was for $1100). By the way, did anyone reply even after 2+ months? No.When I asked how long I would have to wait for the part to be shipped, an employee of this shady company said it would take 2-4 weeks because the order had to be placed from Europe. Okay. Has one week passed already? Yes? No) since they were having fun all last week and never even placed the order. But they charged the money right away, of course.Alright, I waited for 4 weeks. I called, and the same guy said, yeah, there's a little problem, and it will take not 4 weeks, its should be another 1-2 weeks. Okay, fine. I said, at least give me updates on the order because I'm the one always calling.After 2 weeks, I called, and their boss, John, who doesn't give a damn about the customers, said, yeah, you need to wait another 2 weeks (total 8 already) Okay. I called the next day, and asked where's the refund? They said I had to wait a couple of days. Fine, I called again after 5 days. Where's the refund? Ordered a set of engine and transmission mounts and had a little issu. Called them and fixed the issue sent me another part no questions asked. Actually use BFI quite a bit for a lot of my VW aftermarket parts and they're always top qualit. 10-10 would recommend them. read more

The worst customer service i have ever experienced, they asked me why i didnt message them sooner even though i was well within the 30 day return window. Product arrived damaged . They hassled me, instead of offering me a return label or replacement. So i had to go through paypal for a buyer protection. Online shopping experience is not as straight forward as it should be. Bought Audi puddle lights and the description says "Fits cars with built in entrance lights as standard", which most Audis have. Did not say which years or models it would fit. After raising an inquiry for a return slip, they said they are unable to accept the return since my year/model was not on the list. Confused since I didn't see any such listings, I go back on to the site to see that they now added models and years after I requested to return the item. I have placed a order for a oil catch can from BFI through one of their vendor in 11/30. Initially I was told it will take one to two week to ship. Between the holidays and the pandemic, I can understand that. After the two weeks passed without any notification, I contacted the vendor who in term contacted BFI and was told my order will ship out the following week, which will be the week of Xmas. Well today I reach out to the vendor again since I still haven't receive any email regarding my order, and now are being told that my order is actually still in production queue and will not be ready unit end of next week. I called BFI directly to inquire about the completely opposite response from the two occasions. The customer service rep say that he has nothing to do with the prior reply and that all I can do is either wait or get a refund. I asked how is providing customer with false information and wasting customer's time acceptable and the customer service rep just rudely replied that I can either wait for the order or get a refund, then hung up the phone. If this is how they are treating customers, rest assure I will not be making any future purchase of their product!! read more

Terrible. I had my clutch replaced here. They did the service and seemed to be in a hurry when performing it. They should not have told me to come back and pick up the car the next day if it wasn't going to be ready. I had to wait about an hour and a half while they finished it when it was supposed to be done the next day. A few weeks later, the car left me stranded on the side of the road. As it turns out, the axle bolts FELL OUT. They didn't torque them properly, I guess, or maybe didn't apply any "loctite?" I am not a mechanic, but it was clear to me that after 80K miles with no issues, a clutch service, and axle bolts that went missing 2 weeks later, they were to blame. I went back to the shop about a week after I got the car fixed at a different place on a Saturday (since BFI isn't open on Saturday) and explained the problem. These guys have a good reputation and I figured it'd be no big deal. WRONG! I was told that it wasn't their fault and that there was nothing they would do. They absolutely would not refund the $72 worth of bolts and labor and would not refund the tow. When I mentioned that was absurd and said that it was clearly their fault, the guy laughed at me and told me that there was no way I'd make it two weeks if that were the case. After the other shop installed the bolts, I drove the car another 30K miles and guess what? THEY DIDN'T FALL OUT! Avoid these people at all costs - I hope you agree with me that a shop who does not admit their mistakes does not deserve your business! read more

Just wanted to share another disappointing experience with Black Forest Industries (BFI). Three days ago, while searching for a grille and lower grille blend for use on my 1986 VW Jetta, I found what I was looking for, and placed an order via the BFI website. Today, I received a call notifying me that the grille is on back order with a delivery date of approximately three weeks, but they have the lower blend. The caller also told me that he'd sent an email with two other options. one which was the same price as the part I'd order and the other about $20-$25 more. I told him that since I didn't need it right away, I was willing to wait and asked if they would just send me the lower grille blend. The caller told me no problem and we hung up. a few minutes later he called back to tell me that they couldn't split the order because it would incur an additional shipping charge. The problem I have is, that the website didn't state that the product was on backorder and they processed my payment for both items. Why is it my fault that they have to pay shipping for the second item because they didn't annotate the products' availability? Very frustrating as I have had this problem with them before. read more

I've been a VW enthusiast for a long time, and although I never had a reason to work with Black Forest beyond ordering a part here or there (which was always solid reliable and issue free), I ended up in pinch while traveling and they came through in a big way. I was heading south through NC and noticed that dreaded coolant smell...not exactly uncommon on VWs, but one of the only things that can leave you stranded. After stopping to check things over I saw a small leak was developing on a coolant hose on my VR6. (previous owner had installed wrong and it was rubbing the fan assembly) Being aware they were relatively close, and me being 5 hours from home, I called in, priced, ordered my part and picked up later that day with a bottle of G12 to go along with. Dan even stayed a little late after normal hours so I could make the pick up. It was a detour, but a necessary one. I've worked in similar shops and I know what it's like to try and provide the best service as a small business while managing time and still making a living. Coming through like that saved me a potential tow, big money and showed they are willing to help out a fellow enthusiast in need when they can. We've all been there, and it's nice to know that even though it wasn't a million dollar sale they made the effort and I appreciate it. read more

Own a 2016 Audi A3 Convertible. After owning a 60s classic and then a TT, the A3 was kind of boring and I was going to get rid of it ...and then someone at the dealership suggest I talk to the people at Black Forest Industries. The techs at BTI laid out a number of options. With a coil-over, an upgraded rear sway bar and an AU software upgrade I feel like I'm driving a different car! They've pumped a boatload of performance and handling into a car I once thought was boring. AND they've offered to bring it back in for any adjustments to make sure it was perfect. The car settled a bit after a couple weeks and started making a clicking noise at low speeds. They took the car in and spent a day readjusting it AT NO CHARGE! The car is awesome and I love it. It's all due to the expertise of the techs at Black Forest Industries. They turned a mouse into a lion. Now this car deserves to wear the Audi rings. I HIGHLY recommend Black Forest Industries for any of performance needs. read more

I placed an order for the APR VW catch can but only moments later saw the inconspicuous notice, at the very bottom of the product page, that the part required the use of the APR intake. I tried to cancel the order the following day. As I tried to explain that the notice of additional parts were required was not obvious the rep began arguing with me. But apparently he did not take my criticism as a request for cancellation even when I told them I was not interested in an intake. When I received an email notification of shipment I called once again to say that I had cancelled the order and was told to send an email to receive an RMA and that there would be a restocking fee of 15%. After following these instructions I received 2 messages insulting my intelligence, yet no RMA. They did send me a copy of their return policy which stated that the 15% restocking fee is charged simply for cancelling an order. I'm certain this policy is a major form of revenue for Black Forest Industries, but does not retain many future customers. I will spend my money more wisely in the future, at one of their competitors. read more

Black Forest Industries Don't take your car to BFI. At first sight, in person and on there web page, you would think that these "guys" run a reputable business and are on par. Like me, you are greatly mistaken if you believe this to be true. Sit back, relax and grab some popcorn as tell you about my nightmare of events with these bunch of clowns. My first encounter with BFI was for a simple gas cap. I was referred to them by a salesperson from Leith Auto in Cary. I was in need of a gas cap for my 2005 BMW M5 and did not want to drive all the way to North Raleigh to Leith BMW. When I first walked into BFI, I was pretty impressed with the office/garage. They had a nice waiting area, all sorts of cool parts on display, complimentary coffee/tea, water access to WiFi and even an arcade machine for your entertainment as you wait. They had all the makings of a good service shop and seemed like a good candidate as the go to shop for all my M5 needs. I ordered the gas cap and it arrived 2 days later. On my second visit to pick-up my gas cap, I saw an Audi R8 in there parking lot. I inquired about the cars status and the sale tech told me that the owner brought it in for an ECI firmware upgrade. I was sold at this point because if this place was good enough for an R8 then it's good enough for my M5. But that's where I was wrong. The gas cap they ordered was not for an M5 but a regular 5 series. No big deal I thought, popped it on and shortly after the warning light on the dash went off. As the saying goes, it was all down hill from there. My first really horrible encounter with BFI was when I bought my car in to get the oil cooler replaced. They replaced the cooler but, my bumper was not re-installed properly and they shorted the auto leveling chip on one of my headlight when they power washed the engine bay. Since I did ask them to give the engine bay and under carriage a good wash, I accepted the responsibility for the headlight. I decided to give them another chance and took my car back for two persisting issues. One was a throttle body failure on one of the banks and passenger side mirror that would not pitch down when shifted into reverse. They ordered the mirror from Leith BMW, but it failed to work. BFI said that the part was faulty/DOA and requested a replacement from Leith. Leith's policy on defective parts is that they will test the part and install the part. If the part is indeed bad, then they would replace it. However, if the part is fine or the problem is with the car then "someone" owes Leith for labor and diagnostics. Long story short, Leith was able to install the mirror in less time then it takes to do this write up. They determined that the mechanics at BFI "didn't know what they where doing". BFI management was extremely upset that BMW fixed it and didn't call to tell them what was wrong or that it was fixed until I arrived to pick up my car. Basically, they where upset that they got stuck with this bill from Leith BMW. Now for the straw that broke the camels back. At the same time BFI "replaced the mirror", they also "fixed" my throttle body issue with a replacement throttle body. This part was covered by my warranty company so they shipped the part to BFI. On there first attempt, they said they "fixed" it but after a week of driving, the same symptom and errors came up. At this point I was tired of paying for rentals as they don't have a loaner. I was tired of missing or arriving to work late because there "shop" does not open until 10AM and everyone clear out by 5pm and they're not open on the weekends. I had them pick the car up from my job and I took a cab to pick it up around 4PM. At first look/drive everything seemed fine. I was happy that my car was finally fixed and all my problems where behind me.....so I thought. I drove home and made sure to drive it hard just to see if any lights/errors would show. Once I got home and parked, I opened the hood and did a visual inspection of my engine. This is where I flipped my lid and drove back to BFI faster then I left. These POS clowns failed to clip/secure several parts back into place and even broke a few plastic pieces. When I got back to there office, I gave them a piece of my mind and even stood over them as they fixed there screw up. They asked me to leave the garage several times but that wasn't happening. These clowns even went as far to say that I bought my car in with the broken pieces. Needless to say, I wouldn't even take a broken clock to these clowns. You have been warned, take your car to them at your own risk. These guys strike me as they type that would fix one issue and break something else on purpose just to keep you coming back. Beware, Beware, Beware!!! You have been warned!!!! If you think I'm fabricating this story, look at the pictures and judge for yourself. read more

Not pretty honest with there online shopping experience because i bought 2 engine mounts from there website first they post the listing that price was onsale from 134.99 to 89.99 and no aftermarket word on the listing. So that led me to buying it okay than 2nd when i recevied my parts it was just wrap with scratch brown paper with rubberband and not in original packaging maybe they try to save on shipping but i pay almost 20 buck for shipping. 3nd the parts doesnt look so great it look crappy hope it doesnt break down and how would i know if they didnt give me some cheap mounts and still make profit on it. Now when i check the web again they have 2 different one now one is oem and one is aftermarket if i know i will pay more to get the oem instead! Very disappointed read more
